i was sensible enough ( a rarity) to photo copy my passport before sending it the the Embassy. I am hoping that will help. i have developed a good relationship with the new head officer at IO. (fruit & wine) :)

latest is a response from Embassy, to my request for a letter explaining the situation, addressed to Immigration: ' Well noted and please accept our sincere apologies that we misplaced your passport. But if we could not find it – we will issue you an official letter for Thai immigration. its difficult to get any sense of urgency on their part. there are 3 weeks to go to the annual retirement extension deadline.
