British man’s Thailand trip goes from heaven to prison hell (video)
Hockeybik replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That's what I was thinking. There's always his story, their story and the truth. Nevertheless, this guy was treated badly. My big takeaway is to stay away from Airbnb and no drinking. -

Someone once told me about Thai roads that "Civil engineering is not a Thai strong suit." I think that pretty much sums up most Thai engineering. A structure like that should be carefully designed and manged. I'm going to bet that the builders and designers were pretty much "winging it". After all, it worked before.

Thailand’s Casino Complex: 90% of Patrons Expected to be Locals
Hockeybik replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wouldn't it be a logical question to ask where this casino complex might be located? If the location hasn't yet been determined, maybe the reporter could find out what areas are being considered. -

British man dies in failed parachute jump from Pattaya condo
Hockeybik replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
The parachute in the photos of the body is a blue or purple. The open one is green. Probably a stock photo used for the story. The media should make note of that but they often do not. -

In fairness the Thai banks, green and blue, have their stuff together. Apps and online work pretty darn well. Government, well... I agree with you there. -

Hockeybik replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
No, he meant that the Taiwanese Embassy is at least calling for an investigation and that he doesn't think the Canadian Embassy would do the same for one of their citizens.- 102 replies

Dead body of American man found in Chao Phraya River near Bangkok
Hockeybik replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
That's the first thing I thought of too. So, now the homicide squad (such as they are) has to deal with a body that has been moved. I realize a body in a river has moved from where it went in but I would think the police should be involved from where the body was first found. -

30,000? Even on A380's that's more than 50 trips and you know it won't happen.
