1.) They not complain about the country they want to live in.

2.) Not complain about the US people, say they hate them. If they do hate them I would ask “why you want live there, all the bad people”

1.) Correct because the country works. It is based on equality and they can setup their business without problems.

2.) Sure they do. They complain about the blacks who steal from their shop. Why do they live there - they make very good money. The children get a good education. They dont need an American to own 51% of their shop like you demand in Thailand.

Same western country. 1.) My friend want to buy small house before in Australia. The law says can not. 2.) USA want to build wall. Brexit. 3.) Your education not so good if you not know about that.

4.) Maybe you blind. In Thailand you can buy some real estate. Same as foreigner western country.

1.) The law says you can if you live in Australia on a 12 month visa but can only buy one house once pre-approved. (temporary resident). Now like your friend also needs approval but can only buy new property or old property that is going to rebuilt. (non-residents). In Thailand you cant buy a house as a foreigner only a condo where 51% of the units belong to Thai people.

    2.) Thats not an argument.

    3.) Thats not an argument.

4.) No you cant. 51% of condo units must be owned by Thai people. Nobody here on thaivisa owns their own house. Its in the name of their Thai wife or in the name of a Thai company otherwise it is illegal. Some might have a superficies but that is not ownership of the land the house is built on.

It's hard to hide a dog.  It's not hard to have a cat.  What they are doing, is encouraging you to look into other's condos and take a photograph or just snitch on them.  I find this type of behaviour to be reprehensible.

Yes its normal in Thailand but not very unique. You will notice in societies that have very little individualism that people tend to rat on the person who is not performing in coherence with the collective. You will notice this not only in Asian societies but also in Middle Eastern societies. Outside of culture there is also the issue of ideology. You can as an example see a snitching culture under communist rule and how East Germans used to rat on each other.

  3. I have asked about this over the years as Bangkok is sinking much like other major cities in Asia. China has the same problem and they have banned people from drawing ground water in certain cities. Also adding all that concrete does not help by adding so much weight to the surface. There was talk about moving North to Ayutthaya but that was many years ago to get out of the valley that Bangkok is located in.

Nobody I have ever met has thought it possible as you needs loads of money and some people would not like the idea of downgrading Bangkok to a lesser city and lower the value of their property investments. Time will tell but this is the first time that I know of that someone of note has brought it up.

I’m visiting my gf in Chon Buri on the standard tourism visa, and was wondering if I’d get into any trouble helping her sell food in the market. Not getting paid. Anyone know if this is alright?

Too much trouble in the anti-foreigner Thailand today. We used to have a friend maybe 10 years ago who had a market stall in Pattaya and my wife used to sit there and talk to his wife the whole evening. When the day was done I would help him pack up everything and put it into their pickup truck. It was fun watching the world go by, but I would not do that today. I have seen over the years too many silly problems from emptying an ashtray to .... someone cutting his own lawn at home. The last one I am not pulling your leg. Just too many jobsworths to be bothered with.

They showed up and no witness. She had a death in the family over the weekend. The three Immigration Police said, no witness, no extension.

Never heard of this insanity before. Since when is a witness needed as if we are applying for citizenship. Since this is in reality an 11 month visa do you need to get a fresh witness each year and do they have to point at you or not in the photo?

Thai has the 10th largest motor industry in the world - bigger than the UK's.

They have also the biggest electronics and high-tech industries in s.e. Asia after China.

th baht is strong because unlike other currencies in the region Thailand owes little and is cash-rich.

I know there are some Christians here. My wife and her family are Christian. But, she has never heard of the Pope. Are there alot of Catholics here? There are only about 750,000 Christians, from what I hear. How many of those are Catholic? Seems an odd place to visit.

In 2003, there were 278,000 Catholics in Thailand, which constituted 0.44% of the total population at the time.

As of 2018, there are 379,975 Catholics in Thailand, a figure that represents 0.46 percent of the total population of 69 million.

I never used to see it going on when I lived in BKK 20+ years ago.

Now it seems they are everywhere, waiting only for some unsuspecting foreigner to drop a cig butt.

I got a fine 10 years ago on Sukhumvit in broad daylight of 500 THB and he gave me a receipt. Its municipal police if I recall. I could see from the other receipts in the book that they had been mostly Thai as the 500THB fines was in Thai writing.

Oh, I forgot to mention, also mentioned my address in 13 extensions of stay.

Would they know my address by now?

Maybe they did not figure out yet that you are not a criminal either and use logic and save trees by drawing less home drawn maps and the same paperwork each year. Maybe they might even give you a 2 or 3 year visa so it shortens the immigration lines.
