All us foreigners living in Thailand should be grateful that the Thai Government allows us to stay here long term. If you don't like the laws, live some place else.
Reciprocity. Should Thai people get the same treatment in our countries? What makes them so special that the system is not balanced and we accepted 500,000 plus of them in Europe and America. Then give them all the rights as a citizen. What foreigners are asking in Thailand is not citizenship but logical balance.

Its a bit of a perfect storm. Embassy letters ending, longer stay of your 800,000 THB in your bank account. Now add on TM 30 and you should note that the welcome mat is long gone. Time to move on if you can and for those who still wish to call Thailand home will need to find another place as Thailand has become very unpredictable.

What a nasty lot of people on here. Why would you talk so badly about people you dont even know or that you perceive to have less than you? Who is they and who said "they" havent left for anywhere else? Do you have any numbers or stats to back up this nothing post?
I wrote this terrible diatribe 2 days ago and then came back and just deleted it. It was the same as you have noted and showed how terrible some people are. Someone asked about the TM30 and why falang cant muster a united front like Asians in other countries. I wrote simply because look at TVF and see how many penis competitions we have each week about who has money and who is a loser. I note too that Chinese abroad can lobby because they dont do this to each other. Another thing ... people who have real money not Baht money dont talk about money. I am yet to talk to a multi USD millionaire and have him talk about how well off he is.

Agreed Australia should treat Thais exactly how Thailand treats us ! Besides 90 day reporting and TM 30 what about 800000 in the bank or 65000 per month whilst in Australia ! Also banned from buying real estate in Australia and maybe the UK ,USA and the EU should do the same ! Just wait for the Thai rich elite 's response !
That is something to advocate for --- reciprocity laws. You cant have globalism without reciprocity laws. They can no longer become citizens in our country. Once they get divorced -- off you go. No longer buy our companies or property since we cant do it in yours. I have the feeling that the day will come!

It's time Australia introduced a TM 30 and 90 day reporting for all aliens!
Unlike all of us here they are more likely than not citizens by now. Might need to revoke citizenship's and give them 11 month visas as well as a TM30 and 90 day reporting duty. After all, what is good for us is also good for them.

You:
1. They are poor; OR
2. They like the nightlife;
Maybe:
1. The cost of relocating is a pain; (sell house/condo into a soft market)
2. Too old to move and start again;
3. Procrastination and gotten used to the uncertainty;
4. Hoping it changes; (which I doubt)
5. What to do with Thai wife and/or kids; (they are now a liability)
6. Just to lazy to do anything other than moan;
7. Hoping it does not affect them later as they can still wiggle for now.

Perhaps one in the chain was a single child and gay?
Sorry I added that the caption on the story and the body of the story is not the same. The caption says great-great-grandfather but the main story says great-grandfather. Yes the last kids could have all been gay but the story look suspicious.

1. His wife was 15 when he married her. The op doesn't say how old he was.
2. Where did you get the 25 from?
Basic maths -> They had 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. (Notice there is a generation or two missing?)
Example : Jiroemon Kimura (115 years old) -- 7 children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren
There is a generation or two missing in his heritage. 25 years I would say would be the average age of someone today getting married and having kids. People had kids younger than that 30+ years ago. If they had kids younger then he would be younger than 90 as well.
If he is 128 years old as he claims then he should have great-great-great-grandchildren. He only has great-grandchildren. He is two generations of grandchildren short for the age of 128 years old. The caption on the story makes it even more stupid as it says (Thai caption: Ha Ha! Great Great granddad survived six reigns. He's 128 years old) Now he is a great-great-grandfather but the main story says great-grandfather. Either way he is a generation or two short as I said.

Expect more job loses as exports contract, tourism slows: NESDC
in Thailand News Headlines

Ok... so is the inflation figures correct or not? Everything in Thailand changes daily, from export figures, tourism numbers and now inflation calculations look odd as well. Thailand has had a low inflation rate but look at the prices of processed foods in Thailand and it has clearly gone up more than what they say it did.
