Change it to "I don't understand the difference between sex and gender, cos i am smooth-brained" and you will be on to a winner

Not if an individual of a non female sex, regardless of gender, enters a competion for the female sex.   The clue is in the competition title, "Miss Netherlands" not "They/Them Netherlands".

If wanting to stay near Andaman Sea @ Phang-Nga, then just north of Sarasin Bridge.  Think I was one of the only farangs in the area.

Great for a sunset with plenty of local vendors around ... my snaps:

Might see one of my friends, cruising for a munch:

There are a few good resorts between Sarasin, along the 3001 rural road up the 20km or so to Thai Muang, however, they're all in the 3000baht+ category.   Also, apart from the hotels themselves, limited in food options apart from the occasional stall.   The beach road just north of Thai Muang has a few restaurants and some camping next to the national park at the end.   The sea isn't recommended this time of year though.

  3. I would recommend Phang Nga province, but away from the Andaman coast (some good resorts there, but you'll pay for them).   Closer to Phang Nga town, there are numerous natural attractions, virtually nil farang tourists, and easy reach of the northern most areas of Phang Nga Bay.   I've cycled quite a lot in that area, and the roads are good for two wheels, whether powered or not.   A quick Google gave me this, with a reasonable span of cost options.   Less than one hour from Phuket airport.

  4. Very poor factual reporting.   The scumbag is the boyfriend of the deceased's 31 year old Aunt (he is 29 years old).    She had been living with them since being abandoned by her own family, and was apparently always in trouble.   This occasion they caught her stealing dietary supplements that they were packing for sale, so he decided to beat her to death with a baseball bat.

  5. Must be around 4 or 5 years ago, the same thing happened to my wife's Honda Accord.   Not unheard of, and the cause was attributed to Thailand's humidity levels, which as those of us who actually live here are aware, destroys adhesive (don't know how many pairs of my shoes have lost their soles because of this).

Honda dealer wasn't very helpful, but a shop that did seat and trim recovering were great.   They actually got hold of the exact same material (leather look alike) that Honda use on the door trims, and much better than the original.   A really professional job, you'd think is was the original installation.

Can't help with location as this is in Phuket, but I'm sure there will be something similar where you are.

  6. Usually these cruise ships, although the vessel itself may be on location for around 12 hours, the actual time for passengers to spend onshore is circa 8 hours.   What tours or excursions could Pattaya offer within that kind of time frame, other than trips to malls and a daytime visit to Walking Street?   Remember, these vessels will almost certainly have come from Singapore, so shopping other than topping  up with essentials, is very low on the list of things to do.   In the couple of years pre Covid, on two occasions friends of mine were on cruises that included Phuket on the itinerary, and I collected them from their coming ashore at Patong and spent the few hours that they had with them, so I'm reasonably familiar with what takes place.

  7. Returning to the UK is the only sensible option for the OP.   His reserves of savings have been decimated by health treatments, and has no other source of income.   There is little point moving to adjacent countries such as Cambodia/Laos/Myanmar/Vietnam if you don't actually have any money or income.   At least in the UK can obtain free healthcare and come under their social security umbrella.   No, it will not be easy, and no doubt much anguish and soul searching along the way.   However, in general, the UK population is a compassionate one, and he will stand a much better chance of getting himself back on his feet there than anywhere in SE ASIA.   He has literally and metaphorically nothing to lose.

  8. What was your UK working background?   Were you a member at any time of the armed forces or any other government occupation (local council, civil service etc etc).   These entities have charities and benevolent funds that may be able to help.

I think the very first thing you need to do is at least get an address to be able to register for NHS treatment, and Social Security.   Wherever you might end up, there is likely to be a Citizens Advice Bureau that will offer perhaps not solutions but a reality check of what options and help is available to you:   https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/   I believe you can chat on-line so would be able to touch base with them before you leave Thailand and perhaps help  you formulate a plan.   One thing is for sure, you are not the first that this has happened to, and certainly won't be the last.

Checked it out, attaching photo of part of the water tank and pump (the cover is off the pump when the landlord did a repair a few years back....as the pump was leaking a bit).  The pump is (according to sticker on the cover) Hitachi GX Series, WT-P 250GX (don't know what that means).

    WaterSystem02.jpg

The '250' in the serial number refers to the HP.   250hp is probably the minimum you need to service a two storey house.

  10. A all too familiar story.   Although our village doesn't get its water from the local water authority (it's a private lake which we pay via a meter each month), the same problem, going back a few years.   Low to non existent pressurer most of the time causing problems with washing machines, solar hot water system etc.   Enough was enough earlier this year, see this thread and post:

  11. How on earth Karon on Phuket got onto this list is a mystery.   Nothing but a few resorts and low level shops and restaurants.   Lanta Town (obviously on Koh Lanta) is worth a wander around for an hour or so (too small for anything more).

  12. It would appear that the market in part is being driven by wealthy Russians being denied access through visa denial to much of their previous favourite boltholes.   10,000 US Dollar equivalent for renting a fairly normal house in the upmarket areas of London is not uncommon.   For these people, buying assets, be it property or such as boats, runs the real risk of confiscation (although unlikelly of course in Thailand).

Not all land titles are Chanote, so what happens then, should just be blue house book.

Agreed, however, I believe than an individual can only appear in one blue house book as that is used for other forms of registration.   If somebody is renting out a property they own, it's higher than probable they will be in the blue book of their primary residence, hence the need of the visa extension applicant to get a copy of whatever land deed document showing the actual owner.   Now of course we get into muddy waters, as it may not be the actual owner who is the actual leassor/landlord, it could be sub let.   There's often reluctance on the part of Thai property owners to become 'official landlords' as there's the potential of being liable for income tax.
