  1. I may have to do this. I had the oil changed about 2 months ago so will hold off a while on this one.
  2. The battery wasn't holding a charge 2 months ago. So before replacing the battery I wanted to check the alternator. I did as you suggested. Started the car, removed the terminals and the car kept running. However, I did not know about the lights brightening up when the engine revs. Will check this today. Thanks
  3. Good idea that I had not thought of. Thanks!
  4. AC works well. Had it gassed up when the compressor was changed about 18 months ago. The car has 215000 miles or 346000 kilometers.
  5. Thanks for this. First thought was that the engine was idling too low as you suggested. However, this has been looked at by every mechanic I've been to. Adjusted and readjusted. The last time the car seemed to be running smoothly. Then a few days later the same thing all over again. Correct "idle motor" means Idle air control motor (I.A.C.) From what I was told they aren't made anymore for this model. When asked if it could be rebuilt "no parts available."
  6. Done! Still vibrating away. Thanks
  7. The last big fix was replacing the throttle body. Used, of course. Will check "the engine idling no A/C when you turn on headlights to see if the revs drop." Thank you! What type of sensor am I looking for on Lazada?Appreciated!
  8. Checked and replaced 18 months ago. Thanks
  9. Thanks! I had the compressor replaced approximately 18 months ago. But will check the clutch pully for corrosion. Is the Teflon spray locally available?
  10. My beloved 1997 Ford Aspire looks great and runs great except for when I turn on the air-con. It starts to vibrate as soon as I turn it on. Vibration stops when accelerating but starts again when stopped at a light. One mechanic said it's the "idle engine", which is not made for this car any longer. Another said he could modify so it works correctly and another said it would be best to change the engine. Several have looked but so far no solution. I'm certainly not going to change the engine. So, I need a mechanic who knows old Fords. I won't be going to Pro Auto or to Jimmy on the Ring Road. I've been here for more than 17 years, seen a lot of shops and am not looking to go broke with those guys. Any other suggestions are welcome.
  11. This could have ended much worse. Not a good idea to fight a Thai guy, or any guy for that matter, who has a gun drawn. Just walk/run away.
  12. Yes! I am very upset about this indeed!
  13. Thanks! I opened an account and then closed it 45 minutes later after reading negative reviews similar to this one. Cheers
  14. This sounds useful to some but I have family who can do this for me. Are you saying it's somehow less expensive through one of the Thai services? If so could you forward contact info please? I'm inquiring because I'm trying to find the least expensive way to receive packages here in Chiang Mai. Thanks for your input!
  15. Thanks. I kind of figured that to be the case.
  16. Has anybody used MYUSA.COM for shipping to Thailand? Looking for reviews. Thanks
  17. The closed branch is the Chang Phueak branch off the mote. The old manager is there and he tells me he doesn't like the new location very much.
  18. Hold on. Isn't a decade 10 years? "Almost half a decade"? Half a decade is 5 years. Almost half would be less than 2.5 years? He did say almost half a decade didn't he? I never was that great at math :-)
  19. You've been here almost half a decade? That's less than 2 years. The only changes you've seen are what happens when a popular holiday destination wakes up from a pandemic that has lasted about as long as you've been here. I think you are really going to have stuff to complain about come April!
  20. I have received a quote from a company called NRG. I told the agent that I couldn't find any reviews for the company online. He told me that NRG are the brokers and WR Life are the insurer.
