  1. Wiggy you misunderstand, getting an unlocked import from HK has nothing to do with jailbreaking, you seem to have some bad information. You can buy imported unlocked iphones from other distributors but as far as I know they are breaking the law. True is the only official seller of iphones, no one else is supposed to do it. But this is Thailand.....

  2. Did not read other replies:

-Will be more expensive in Thailand, probably by a lot if you were going to signup for a service plan in the USA

-Will be easier to enforce the warranty in the USA. Might not be able to enforce it in Thailand at all because the phone will be jailbroken.

-In Thailand you will get a ton of pirated music and app's on the phone for free (basically anything you want and a bunch of stuff you've never heard of) that would otherwise cost you more than the phone itself - if you are a fan of pirated music and software, this is a good thing.

-Thai phone will come jailbroken so you can use it with any sim card from any country in the world - US phone will be specific to one carrier. You can jailbreak it in the USA too, but in Thailand they have professionals who will do it for you.

That's about all of the pro's and con's I can think of. If I had a choice I'd buy it in the USA and bring it here to jailbreak and add music and software but I was lazy and not in the USA so I bought it here. Paid about 25,000 baht for a new 16gb iPhone 3GS (latest version) a couple months ago at MBK - which is the best place to buy it imo - lots of different vendors so you can bargain them against each other for the best price.

Just wanted to jump in and further point out how wrong you were and that yes you should have read the other replies. :) The Iphone is sold legally and officially unlocked and unjailbroken by True. This happened in 2009.

  3. I dont understand the ops question, who has a collection of music other than Thai music? Uh... who the heck doesnt? And who actually has a thai music collection? I've got 50 gigs of music, not a single track is Thai, why would it be?

  4. I'm looking for a good reasonably priced print shop to print around 1000 brochures, full colour, both sides, glossy paper. Was just at one place and he quoted me 12 per piece for 1000 (12,000 baht) but he had that all too familiar twinkle in his eye that says "oooh I'm gonna rape this falang for every baht I can get" so thought I'd ask around a bit. Thanks

  5. What website exactly are you looking for that include the word 'tracker' which is not related to torrent? Maybe you can have the add an exception to the proxy rules

GOOGLE, I use google to search for (my latest headsmashing episode) money tracker because I was looking for information an on iphone app whose name I've forgotten but I know it contained the word money and tracker. They block ANY use of the word tracker, its ridiculous!

  6. Hi.

As you have replaced your Windows version you may have to allow BitTorrent through the Windows Firewall. I don't know how exactly it would work in Windows 7 but the Firewall and it's settings are available from the Control Panel.

    Kind regards.....

    Thanh

Ya I said in my first post that I allowed it through the firewall and even completely disabled it to try. Nothing worked.

  7. Im just venting, nothing anyone says will help really. My apartment building uses a middle man, they charge 900 baht a month for 500 kb, ridiculous I know, True charges 599 baht a month for 3mb! My building does this so they can take a cut of the action, like they do for everything else. Actually getting True myself in my own apartment would be the answer.... if it wasnt next to impossible to get True to actually sell their services in a timely and easy fashion! It was a nightmare getting them to actually come and set me up at my office and now at my apartment? Forget about it.

Anyway, that is not the problem. My middle man isp blocks torrents, fair enough, I had to accept that years ago. But they also block the word TRACKER. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHGGGGG..... after the 10th time trying to search for phrases that contain the word tracker and having it error out with a message saying it is blocked I am ready to get on the roof with my rifle and become a headline news story. Idiots dont care that the word tracker can be used for many different things and not just torrents and just keep it blocked and no explaining to them that they do not understand the use of the word will change anything. q5]fhgdfarhqu l8798pg9p7fcdi75sye4tw y i8k6l7g9o s646u s6 6s6s4s6 6 su 6us u56 That is me smashing my head into my keyboard, I cant flucking take it anymore. Goddamn......

Well I feel better having vented, thanks for your time.

  8. Toxins being released through the skin? Hmmm.

Yes, I know it sounds strange if you've never encountered natural medicine, but it's generally accepted in Naturopathic circles that the skin is an organ of elimination. It is the largest organ in the body.

No that wasnt a "hmmmm this guys making fairy tales", it was a "hmmm something to think about and look into".

  9. ZAQ1, you tell your little story and then casually mention that YOU paid the damages to the other drivers bike even though it was completely his fault. Uh, at what point was this a good smart story? Did you forget the whole point is NOT to pay for the damages other people inflict through their own fault? Who cares that insurance paid for your damages... what the heck were you doing forking over cash for his damages?

  10. I was typically working for 4 weeks on followed by 5 days at home, when I was on a contract. It would go ok for about 3 months but then my wife would get progressively more irritated until after 6-7 months she would demand that I came back. I once worked a contract for 9 months and she was almost ready to divorce me at the end of it. When I end the contracts, I usually stay at least 3 months without serious work (I go to my office in BKK occasionally!). After 3 months she is usually happy enough for me to go on another contract and the cycle begins again.

I know that while I am away she goes out with friends and meets and talks with guys. Perhaps foolishly, I trust her not to 'go too far', but I understand that it's difficult being alone and you need some release from house and kids all the time. Sometimes we forget when we go away and get time to ourselves, that our wives are 'stuck' 24/7 with the kids and don't get that time.

This last contract was for a year, so she & kids came with me. I sometimes miss having time to myself, so it puts some things in perspective for me! (now I get s*** if I stay up after she goes to bed!!)

My advice would be to be understanding and try to forgive, it would be too awful to throw away all those years on the basis of something that may just be a 'release' on her part.

Distance relationships put a strain on any marriage/family, we all have to compromise a little to make it work.

Wow, you forgive cheating because you work out of country for a few months at a time? Wow. Maybe quit your job and stop accepting the cheating? Or give me your wifes phone number? I can't believe your thought process.

  11. So installed win7 and installed the latest bittorent, loaded all my torrents into it.... and they all have red arrows, I tried downloading 2 new torrents and they are stuck at red arrows too. Been using bittorent for years and never had a connection problem. Tried to troubleshoot it but the bittorent site and preferences is way more confusing than it needs to be. My internet connection is fine, also the red arrows dont change regardless of whether I have windows firewall up or not, bittorent is of course on the exceptions list and I am currently not using any 3rd party antivirus software..... any ideas?

  12. You really doubt anything "thai" eh? hehe. They are iphones, there is nothing THAI about them. Yes they will work no problem everywhere as they are legally and factory unlocked, that means unlocked to use any sim card anywhere. The only time you cannot use an iphone abroad (such as U.S. iphones when they first came out) is because they are locked to a specific carrier, then you need to unlock them which is easy for most people but seems scary to certain others. The prices you listed are for unlocked phones from True right? Those are the ones you want.

  13. Ponbkk, I tried many times to replicate that problem you posted a quote from... I dont have that problem, maybe it was fixed in an update? If I click the folder in the left pane to open its contents in the right, then expand the folder in the left nothing happens, there is no scrolling at all, the folder stays exactly where it was and the files drop down below.

  14. I dont think Bill would have started off by criticising Vista hehe. But I did find one ridiculous problem with 7.... homegroup, the new network system windows 7 uses, wow, seems like no one on the net can get it to work. How did they release such a stupid setup, like they didnt test it. Also, Im having serious typing issues on thaivisa.com since installing win7, I cannot delete and I cannot insert the cursor inside a paragrap...I cant even see the cursor, I can type in a straight line though.... strange.

    :)

I was using Windows Explorer today on a Win7 machine and I can't find my way around using the "tree" view in the left pane.

Hopefully there's a way of configuring the view so it looks more like XP's Explorer with the +'s and -'s in a box next to the name, and with greater indenting of sub-folders so you can tell what the structure is.

Maybe you missed the little triangular arrows sitting in front of the drive icons in explorer on the left pane? If you click them they react exactly like the + and - of old. Click the arrow and it turns to point down and drops the drive contents down in a list, click again and the arrow points sideways and hides the list.

  15. I agree, there is nothing to complain about here, simply refuse. Put 50 baht on the counter and walk away. They are trying to steal from you, why would you let them?

However, throwing Thai money on the ground in anger is a good way to commit suicide if you are looking for an exciting public beating death as an option, if that is not your objective, then I suggest you refrain from doing that. People have already been murdered for that exact action in public.
