I love to cook Indian food and have found a good little shop just off Sukhumvit. I read people were unable to find garam masala, black cardamon, basmati rice, etc. This place has all that and much more.
Can't remember the name, 'something Mart' I think, but it's down Soi 23, about 5 mins from Soi Cowboy, on the other side of the road (the right). The Indian people there are very helpfull and speak good English.
Happy cooking

I'm being sent a chair (new, made from wood and leather) to Bangkok port.
Does anyone have any idea what kind of costs I can expect to face, import tax, etc - just a rough amount.
The package is 0.7 cubic m, 80x90x90cm, and weighs 35kg. It's valued at $100.
Thanks for any help

Anyone know where you can get plain white long grain rice? If not I'm thinking perhaps using low graid local rice as a substitute. Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for the help.
Do you know how I find out about the import duty? Also, can you recommend any agents / companies for help with the forwarding process?
Thanks again

I'm being sent a chair (new) from Fujian, China. I live in Bangkok and would like to know which seaport is the easiest to deal with, cheapest, most convinient etc.
Also, can anyone tell me what information exactly will I need to provide the sender?
(Unfortunately they only send door to port).
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any experience using those small, single ring, tabletop gas stoves that you see in Lotus, Carrfour, Big C, Homepro etc? The type that you screw in a small, spraypaint sized (about 1000ml / cl) gas cannister. If so, aprox how much cooking time can you expect to get from each can?
Thanks for any information

Thanks. Did you have to do it because you lost your passport twice? And when was the last time, as i know things are always changing. Also, will i be granted a brand new non o 12 month multiple entry visa or will it be backdated (probably). And any idea how long it'll take to get the passport and the visa - i'm supposed to be going out of the country on the 29th! Thanks again.

I've cleverly lost my uk passport (stolen) and what i'd like to know, if anyone can help, is will I receive a new non o visa with the new passport, or if not what will i be getting? I entered the country just last week, my first entry on a brand new non o visa. Please don't tell me they'll only give me a 30 day visa and i'll have to leave the country every 15 days, in which case i'd rather wait until the end of Feb, when my initial 90 days is up, and say i've lost it then, to buy myself some time! Any ideas? Cheers for any help.

Here's a list of places in Bangkok with Wi-Fi, sourced a few months ago from http://www.bangkokbob.net/computers.htm which offers some good info on the subject, plus info on Krungthep life in general. I don't think this particular list is on the site any more but there's plenty of other interesting things.
//EDIT: I deleted the listing because of copyright.

Just checked the Stickman site and realised the cheeky little gimp has lifted the list from the bangkokbob site, without changing or deleting a single word of the original text. Maybe he had prior permision but I doubt it.

Please tell me, has anybody done a visa run to Mae Sai in the last few days?
I plan to go in two days time (this Monday) and just wanted some conformation that my journey won't be a waste of time
Also, has anyone with a non-im visa ever been asked for proof of funds when crossing back in to Siam; if so, for how much? It's never happend to me and i've done it a good few times.
Many thanks
Booking Train Ticket Help Please

I wouldn't risk turning up at a station expecting to get a sleeper ticket for that same day. In my experience (Bangkok-Chiang Mai, about 30 times) I've always needed to book at least a day in advance, although I'm not sure if this applies to 1st class.
A 1st class cabin gives you privacy, but unless you pay for 2 you'll be sharing with a stranger. They're also quite bit more expensive than 2nd class.
The 2nd class sleepers are good but on my last few trips have been invaded by a strangely high number of very drunk and noisy middle-aged Dutch!
The bottom bunks are slightly more expensive but a little wider, and the lower center of gravity perhaps gives you less swaying?
You might want to take a long sleeved shirt as the aircon can be pretty intense, almost on par with a Thai cinema!
The restaraunt / disco carriage can be good fun - and probably filled with the aforementioned Dutch - and the food's ok although totally overpriced, but personally I wouldn't bother with the pre-ordered breakfasts (I sometimes take a Subway sandwich).
Go for it, the trains are a good way to travel and a nice way to see the country.
Hope this helps
