Curfew in other provinces? And still affects overnight buses/vans right? I was suppose to leave Friday night from Chiangmai to Vientiane. I guess I'll keep waiting. better safe then sorry, plus I would need all provinces from Chiangmai to Nongkhai cleared. :/
I traveled from cm to bkk last night (Sat), leaving at 22:30, arriving at 07:00. I'm pretty sure we must have passed through some provinces under the curfew - and were out in cm after 21:00 anyway - and had no problems (went through 2 police checkpoints on the way). So there's a strong chance you can travel. Contact the bus station, they'll be able to tell you.

You would need to be holding a tourist visa an unused and valid entry to obtain a further 60 day permission to stay on re-entry; otherwise will be 15 days at land border crossing.
I have a double entry and this will be my second entry.
-
That's good news, although I could do without another stamp taking up prime real estate in my passport. My fault I guess.

I'm on a tourist visa and tomorrow, when I go to the border, will have overstayed my 1 month extension by 1 day. Will I simply be charged the B500 and be granted another stay of 60 days or just be given 15 days stay as I've overstayed?
Any knowledge much appreciated.

By group I meant four or five people, not tourists but expats from outside of Chiang Mai.
Thanks for the tip Blinky Bill, we'll be taking advantage of that.

I've been researching The Duke's restaraunt in CM as our group plan to visit sometime soon.
Can anyone tell me if the prices are the same at both locations? I've heard reports that the night bazaar branch is more expensive due to the heavy tourist presence. Is this true?
Thamks for any help

Thanks for the info donnyboy.
Forgot about the Changklan Plaza place, I'll give it a shot.
Feel sorry for any places relying on Supersport to bring in the customers.
-
Really hope it's nothing more than a rumour!
However I could still do with a list of places in CM that have it, for the next 2 weeks at least.
Cheers

Hi there
I'm up here for a couple of weeks from Bangkok and would like to know some places that show the Supersport channel. I think the so-called Irish pub may have it as I recall watching some cricket (never shown on True Visions) there in the past. Anywhere that also has sound / commentary would be ideal.
Thanks for any suggestions

At least he had the courtesy to buy the victim a coffin.

The sister of a friend claimed the best lasagna she'd ever eaten - and she's been to Italy - was at Basilico, Sukhumvit 33 (also Soi 20, as Xonax said).
Their pizza is also very good. I also like Pizzanotti, the delivery arm of Zanotti, Sala Daeng. The last pizza I had was at Via Vie, Sukhumvit 8, and although the crust was ok I found the sauce too sweet.

Very helpful.
I've just been reading about people getting triple entry tourist visas (free), so I'm thinking that's the way to go, with the 1 month extensions. Vientiane here I come.
Thanks people.

Good news about the tourist visa. Is it a fairly painless process? Any idea about the time it takes or is there anything important I should know? - I'm thinking Vientiane.
Ubonjoe, you gave me some good advice but it wasn't about the stamp, it was about the visa.
Thanks

I've just lost my passport and in the process of getting a new one.
I had a non-im o-visa that, from what I've been told on here, can't be transfered to the new passport. Obviously immigration will need to stamp the new passport, stating the date I'll need to leave by.
My question is what will that date be? In 15, 30, 60, 90 days time? The date I would have to be leaving on if I hadn't lost my passport?
Also, if they can't transfer my old visa, does anyone know if there's any other kind of visa I can apply for? - the longer the better (I'm not married to a Thai).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Good info, very helpful. Will check the link. Thanks

So if it's been handed in do you think the police will keep it, pass it on to my embassy or just cut it up?
-
I stupidly left my passport in a taxi the other day and I'm about to file the police report.
When I lost my passport in the UK I went to see if it had been handed in to the police and was told no but even if it had it's automatically cancelled and you'll need to apply for a new one, which seemed a bit odd to me.
What I'd like to know is whether anyone knows if the same thing applies here, or can I (hopefully) just collect my passport from the police or my embassy? I fear it's the former!
Thanks for any help

I lost my passport the other day and I'm about to file the police report.
When I get the new passport will they issue me with my original multiple entry o-visa?
Or will I have to leave the country when my last entry period would have ended (mid July) but upon re-entry, and from then onwards, I'll only ever be given the standard 15 days stay before having to leave again?
It's BAD news if it's the latter as it means having to fly back to the UK within the next month when my original visa wouldn't have expired untill November!

Thanks people. I'll try soi 24 and if no joy it's off to khlong toei just down the road.
got any goat meat recipies ye wanna post? I had a goat curry once at the Notting Hill parade in the UK that wasn't bad, popular ingredient in caribbean cuisine...I believe that goat and mutton are interchangeable in malay cuisine when 'kambing' is indicated like with satay bought from street vendors...
I see that folks sometimes have got herds of goats grazing by the road when driving out in the countryside but haven't seen any in the local market...
Can't think of a recipe off the top of my head (just google 'curry goat') but can tell you the main difference between jamaican and indian curry is the inclusion of thyme, the wickedly hot scotch bonnet chilli and ground pimento. Thyme's easy to find here, allspice is available in whole and ground form but quite expensive, and although sold in Emporium, the scotch bonnets I purchased were nowhere near the real thing. Out of curiosity I also bought some yellow 'fatali' chilli peppers, which to my surprise and joy matched the scotch bonnets in every way except shape!
-
Thanks for that. Somebody also mentioned a butchers near Tops down sukhumvit 24, but if I can't get it there I'll head for charoen krung.

Most people like a good tom yum, but do you prefer your soup clear or creamy?
I order depending on my particular mood, but if forced to choose I think I'd have to go with clear, although I have a feeling creamy will come out on top.
I don't know the history but I'm guessing the clear variety is the original?
Sorry if this has ever been been brought up before but I did a search for ''tom yum'' and got no results!

Does anybody know anywhere that sells goat meat here? It's very common in other parts of the world, and is in fact much healthier than beef an lamb, but I've never seen it for sale here although you can buy goats milk.
Thanks for any help.

England V Mexico Tonight
in Pattaya
Posted
Hi
Can anyone suggest a place to watch the match tonight, preferably somewhere with commentary. Obviously there's hundreds of places but as it's on at 2 in the morning the number of places will be far fewer.
I'll probably need an address or road name too as I'm not from Pattaya.
Cheers.
