  1. The last one I saw, for the life I can't remember its name. But it was about a blacksmith who became a warrior. Awesome movie and with good english subtitles, I was riveted to the screen.

Can anyone give me a hint to it's name.....jeez, brain fade...:o

  2. You underate Bundy. Its the world's finest...

Good luck, let us know if you find a supplier. I have always brought my supply with me.

I am not underating Bundy my friend, just being humble on these forums. :o

But will let you know, if I have any success....cheers..

  3. I may be a bit biased in saying this, but I have found a brilliant website, run by Sriwittayapaknam School.

These kids and I gather teachers, have put together a quite extensive and free service.

Helpfull downloads and on-site functions. You can't go wrong here, with this one.

Visual, sound, how to write text correctly, plus more..all this by thai people for everybody else to use.

Check out the site, as it is very in depth.

    Have a nice day all,

    Garry

p.s. Oh yes, I'm not thai, but I am big supporter of the average Joe.

  4. No offense to you G.P.,

But I'm not going to mention its name or hint at it, as some DO GOODER with nothing better to do, might shaft some more harmless fun out of Chiang Mai.

I'm finishing work in a fortnight and will be back home in Chiang Mai a few days after that. Will let you know if the palce has been closed or severely hampered by the terminator brigrade (who are regulars there normally).

    Time will tell,

    Cheers,

    Garry

  5. Get to know your lady, get to know her family and friends, take yuor time..DON"T RUSH INTO ANYTHING....If you're getting pushed or brow beaten into a FORCED marriage with dowry, hit the high road.

As was said before somewhere in these forums, there are plenty of fish in the ocean, with good hearts. This is a 2 way street by the way...!!!

Don't get me wrong, dowry payments I feel a very legit, as in my travels in the provinces, I have seen many a marriage ceremony, with money trees etc.

The family, in my case, make there own assumption through my lady's advice, on what is expected for dowry and it does comes back (in my case). I have seen dowry's as small as 10,000 (this can be 4 months wages or more in some provinces), so don't get too exasperated about 100,000 or for that matter 400,000 whatever. Sometimes it is a FAMILY means test, you could say, but it generally comes back to you.

    My 2 cents...

    Cheers, garry

  6. The last stripping bar in Loi Kroh closed after a Scottish Police Informer talked to the chaps in Brown about 2 weeks ago. Well thats what I was told anyway.

That wouldn't be a certain Thai frequented one, with shower booth on stage etc etc...!? :o

    Crikey IT,

I might be a newbie in everybodies eyes, but I have a fair knowledge of Chiang Mai after 4 years with my other half, as I would have expected some response to my reply about Loi Kroh. as I am curious if that is the bar (I won't name it) that has been closed down, because some jock <deleted> spilled the beans to the brown terminator brigrade.

    Have a nice one all,

    Gazza

  7. ......but Yea do get an international license before you leave as the one you get here will not be any good to drive here with.and make sure you have ###### good insurance as when you kill someone, you will have to pay their family their worth, what ever that may be.....

Road signs and painted lines are a waste of paint and money in Thailand, as well as here in the Middle East and the blood money issue is more so here in camel jockey country.......roads rules are for other people, not me type of scenario...!!!

But they say life is a challenge, I just didn't think it was driving with my heart in my mouth at times.... :o

  8. .....i just wonder if they also have H.M. King's music??

    or any websites???......

I recently purchased on-line a CD and book, called 'Thailand's Guiding Light'. Excellent book about HM the King and his involvement with Thailand and the CD that has been produced by his permission.

To quote the label from the CD: "The Post Publishing Company Pcl., feels deepest gratitude to His Majesty the King for the royal permission to include his musical compositions and video footage in this CD-ROM"

The book is well made (hard bound) and the cd is good quality, as you would expect.

    I have some links here:

    1. Bangkok Post - HM King

    2. This link also has a Thai Music forum: Learning Thai Com

Hope some of this helps you.

    Cheers,

    Garry

  9. Songran in Chiang Mai last year wasn't as big (maybe becasue of the SARS crisis) but the year before 2545/2002, I had the misfortune to see some nasty motorcycle accidents, through drunkedness, drug related maybe, no safety gear and no road rules adherance. Basically no brains engaged.

It amazes me how easily preventable some accidents can be, but I suppose the old 'It won't happen to me factor' comes to mind.

I'll get off my soap box now and leave room for someone else. :o
