what I am saying is when a foreigner does something bad to a thai the whole country gets their knickers in a twist, but when a thai does something bad to a foreigner nobody gives a hoot.

Well reported on media here and in the UK early last year my mate was shot four times and killed in a road rage incident by an apparently well connected Thai who turned his self in to the Police and admitted his crime....the outcome was that he was given a 4 year prison sentence....reduced to two years as he admitted it....currently to my knowledge he is out on bail pending appeal.....so yes double standards without condoning what this Swiss man has done...he aught to be locked up for a few months.

plus the Bangkok to Hua Hin leg is a real nightmare.

I take a monthly trip from here in Pattaya down to Trang using this route....I always leave Pattaya at 4 am on a Sunday morning and find the traffic on Rama 2 to be fine (around 5.30/6.00 am) I hit the turn off for Hua Hin at around 7.30/8.00 am....return trip on a Thursday I hit Rama 2 at around 12.30 pm and apart from one occasion after an accident (not me) never any problems traffic flowing OK.

I did my 90 Day Report at Jomtien and this was the first time with a new passport. I was required to fill out a new TM47 and get "copies". Is this a new procedure for ALL 90 Day reports or is this just because of the new passport. I couldn't get any information, the young male imbecile at the counter could only yell "copee, copee" without explanation. Does anyone know if this is a new requirement or only for new passports?  I am unable to stand for long periods and I wasted 30 minutes in line for what I thought was the copy line. They have moved everything around again and the result was a complete nightmare. I finally got out of there with the correct stamps in my passport, but the prospect of going through this again is terrifying. Any thoughts appreciated.

Same for everyone nowadays....started 3/4 months ago....more BS :crying:

The agent I used told me another bank statement ( along with the letter) was required going back 6 months..... I said that was covered by copies of the bank book and if anything they would want to go back a year... (which would require a statement to be ordered and a days wait). I was told the agent knows best, and I don't know what immigration require! Used to be it was defined by police orders in writing. Heaven knows what will be needed next year, but I paid an agent yet did a lot of running around myself.

many folk here use Agents even though they have the finances in place....their choice and I respect that...but is it any easier/simpler and time saving as the way I have done for the past ten years....does not seem like it from your experience.

A few years back 12/14 a good pal of mine here used a lady who was an Immigration officer (friend of his wife) and she actually called round to his apartment did all the paperwork returned his passport the following day and the cost was 6000 baht....now that I can understand

Your details are skewed... my agent calls me when it is time to renew  my "marriage visa"... I stop by and drop off my passport and sign all the papers that they have prepared and have my picture taken... they call me a couple of days later to let me know if IO will be visiting... some years IO wants to visit my house some years they do not... up to them... after processing by IO my agent calls me to pick up my passport... have never had a problem.

Your extension is slightly different to most folk here who are on Retirement extensions....my comment relates to retirement....you make two trips to the Agents office I make two trips to Immigration

My daughter in-law has just bought one, the cheapest model. It has all the bell's and whistles, but for me the downside is the engine, basic 1500cc engine that the Chinese owners stick in everything. The more expensive models have a turbo, for the size of the car I think I would have gone for that.

Getting in and out of the back seat is a pain, and I am not tall.

I,m shocked that you could even contemplate getting in a Saic motor car trans never mind actually doing.....stay with your little Suzuki :cheesy:
