  1. Well that was entertaining.

People who think I'm a Neanderthal thug please take note, there's worse out there. :o

And for the record I would stay as far away from tuk tuk drivers as possible, especially these two.

  2. Well, I'm a card carrying Red Shirt and no fan of the "Democrat" party, but this is BS. Again courts meddling with election results because of utter trivialities.. The woman won more votes than anyone else so unless she committed a horrific crime she should be mayor. Votes should decide, not courts.

  3. Almost as big an advantage is that with load balancing (and multiple servers) you don't have to be down during maintenance as much. Or even if you are down you get to put up a information message instead of just your users not being able to connect for a while.. Well worth it.

  4. i live in chiang mai thanks where songkran is a few days of childlike fun when everyone laughs and is happy. and the weapons aren't 'lethal' by the way. they're water pistols.

CM is better than Pattaya, doesn't last as long. I did Songkran there once. Ended up bloody from the large blocks of ice thrown at me and got an infection from the dirty water. Thanks but no thanks. BTW, if that powder isn't carcinogenic, I'll eat my hat.

If you're hat isn't carcinogenic I'll eat that chalk powder. :D

And I think Chiang Mai is blessed with such an abundant and relatively clean water supply all around town.. The municipality treats it with chlorine and stuff, kids swim in it.. how bad can it be?

BTW, in a proper water fight (not when throwing at dry people minding their own business) you absolutely need ice water. Regular water has no effect on wet person. :D That's why they sell the huge blocks of ice all around the moat; a necessary armament. :o

  5. Good news. And I honestly hope that we'll see more initiatives like this, including perhaps a true liberal party. This means that everyone currently wearing a red shirt can stop worrying about Thaksin and actually choose a cause to support, rather than a person.

  6. You employed your sister in-law as a maid .... what were you thinking?!

    .... Don't tell me... you weren't thinking

    Yup.

That's by far the biggest issue here.

If she wasn't family then yes, you would pay her during maternity leave. Not because it's the law because I seriously doubt you're officially employing her and paying tax and giving her social security, but because it's The Right Thing To Do.

  7. Honestly if you live in Bangkok then misplacing your passport is a minor inconvenience at worst. And, why would you even lose it; how often do you lose other stuff that you have with you like your wallet, ATM cards etc. ??

Besides, it's the law, you need ID on you. Applies to you just as much as to Thais.

Are you advocating breaking the law on a public forum?

  8. Give him a FAIR amount of money back and allow him to live in Thailand, but no more politics. :o

How on earth would you get him to keep his word? History tells us he's happy to go back on it.

Not to mention that he SHOULD be allowed in politics. He's achieved so much for so many people; letting those people down would be undemocratic. Also the current constitution and general structure is so that he couldn't become all dominant again. (And he must realize by now that this won't be allowed to happen).

So I completely agree with Bobbin. Also some posters here are so obsessed with Thaksin I honestly wonder why that is.

I still voted 'no', of course. Just won't happen, you need the military and you-know-which-institution to pull off a coup or forced change in govt.

  9. I would agree that the Queen Vic has the best bacon and sausages in Chiangmai, far better than Mad Dogs.I will try and find out where they buy them from.

Mad Dog gets their sausages from Makro so that should tell you something. :o

And... merge topics!? this one obviously is completely different. In fact I think all topics on this forum should be Falong-food related.

  10. Everyone suddenly got real quiet about the weather and visibility.. :D

What an awesome day yesterday, and this morning.. And that for March!!

Who wants to complain about good weather???? :o

How hot is it really? Yesterday, Monday, at Hang Dong, my temperature guage,in the shade, hit 39 degrees and I would imagine the rest of the CM area was similar but Yahoo weather insists the max temperature is around 32 degrees. The 3 day forecast is for scattered thunderstorms max 31/32. Do they record the temperature in a fridge ?

Better stick with weather.com , and then only for the weather REPORTS, not any predictions which are wrong (or misleading at the very least) across the board, no matter what site you check.

This is yesterday, high of 37 : http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/busi...amp;when=033109

  11. I don't think any one dealer is better per se than others. It all depends on the individual vehicle.

Also, as dealers tend to be small, what if you did get a recommendation for a particular dealer then what are the chances he has the vehicle you're looking for?

I think a better angle of approach would be to find a reasonably experienced mechanic (possibly one working at the dealership of the car you're looking to buy) and pay the guy some money to check out a vehicle for you.

  12. everyone on web thinks thaivisa is over moderated and filled with a bunch of losers complaining about this and that.

Well, you don't get to choose your members so I wouldn't fault TV for that. The other thingy you mention is number #847 on the list of things we shall not discuss, so can't comment on that! :o !

  13. I think they're both utterly vile in their biased editorials. No wait, I think The Nation is slightly worse because it 'seems' more of an official policy whereas in the Bangkok post at least it's presented as individual opinion, and VERY rarely a counter view at least gets in.
