I am reluctant to broach the problem with my bank as the staff assume the frozen rabbit stare when faced with any unfamiliar problem.
Indeed in a branch that may well be the case. But phone or email them and in my experience you'll get a proper and accurate explanation, and remarkably quickly too (again only based on my few needs to contact them).

- Is your card authorised for overseas/online payments?
- Do you have any friends, just ask them to pay for you and reimburse them.
- Do you have any family in the UK, they could also pay for you.

Had no problems, she does not drink, family good as gold, no asking for 'loans', not married.
I guess I made a good choice.
Quite right, find the right one and you're set for life. I know for sure, I've had 3.

How can someone overhear someone on a motorbike talking to someone, and determine that it is a relative?
Perhaps it was after the collision, not before or during?

How about the exchange rate/bank charges etc. , compared to normal debit/credit cards?
Kasikorn do one and claim "special" exchange rates with no 2.5% conversion charges. If you go to the website of whichever bank your gf got hers from I'm sure it's all on there.

If you can't show 400k in the bank then you'll need 40k/month for the income option, not a total of 400k over the year.
-
There are a number of threads on this subject recently, you will still need the 400k when you apply for it.

@DrJack54 yes I’ve had a good look through the requirements, looks like a couple of days faffing around in Bangkok and asking our amphur if there’s any requirements they have regarding translations of paper work, thanks for the link, I think I will get any questions I might have answered in there 👍🏻
You can get married in Bangkok if you want. There's no need or benefit to do it in her home town. Might save some time and hassle. I used a company who took care of everything including providing translations, witnesses, transport and anything else needed. All unnecessary but made life simple. Oh, and congratulations to you both!

Go to Laos instead.
What would the advantage be in doing that from Pattaya?

Possibly. I shall let you know if and when my monthly transfer arrives tomorrow.
As I said in a previous post, I have already converted my GBP to THB, so am sending THB to my Bkk Bank as I have done many times successfully.
I sent 75kTHB from the UK yesterday. 10 seconds.

Hi everyone.
Last time I went to immigration, I saw a notice that said now it's possible to submit the marriage-visa (NON-O) renewal online here: https://thaiextension.vfsevisa.com/document-information
1. Has anyone done this before? How was your experience?
2. It seems some documents we used to submit before like bank statements are not there. Are we supposed to show it at the time of getting the stamp?
I have used this service to extend tourist visa entries. In both cases VFS came back to me asking for additional information over and above what they list on the website. Chances are high that the same would happen with all the normal extra things asked for a marriage extension.
Once pre-approved you then go to immigration where all the documents are checked again. Didn't have any issues there but a marriage extension is more involved but theoretically it's pre-approved so ought to be OK. The advantages are the pre-approval, confirmed appointment time and, at least at CW, you attend a quieter, less frenetic area on the 3rd floor away from the hordes below.

That is what I did in another country, and what I would again. 9 times out of 10 her ongoing needs will be greater than your own.

Thank you, I have read all this, but there are also many posts saying visa for uk nationals not required after ( a month I forget) in 2023, dated 2024
I think I'd be inclined to invest the THB 1131 and get the visa. Turing up based on these "posts" is not likely to get you very far.

IATA says you do.

If I need photos, can I get them where I apply for the visa exempt at the airport?
No photo's required. You don't "apply" for it, just go to the immigration desk and they will stamp you in.

Australian
So you can enter visa exempt, 60 days. During that time convert to a single non-O, 90 days, at immigration and in the last 30 days of that go back for a 12 month extension of stay.
Alternatively, you can apply for a single non-O e-visa (retirement) whilst you are in Australia, that cuts out the conversion step.
Either way you'll need 800k in the bank when you get the non-O.

Visa Exemption and Visa On Arrival (VOA)
Can someone please explain the above, in detail?
Visa exemption = No visa is necessary?
Visa On Arrival = Visa will be stamped on the passport on arrival at a TH airport?

I am arriving on 2nd June 2024 after other country medical proceedure.
Previously I have been on Retirement Extension thru the Kalasin Imm. office, with the B800000 in the bank, but my retirement extension ran out while I was away.
Previous advice on this forum was to come in on a Visa On Arrival, then convert to back to Retirement Visa.
Is this advice still valid?
Do I need photos for the Visa On Arrival and can I get them where I fill in the Visa On Arrival?
Thank you.
Are you really sure you want a visa on arrival rather then a visa exempt entry? What passport are you holding?

Need Advice, Should Me and Thai Wife Travel?
in Visas and migration to other countries
Posted
You don't have to travel anywhere to get a new passport. You can do it right now from Thailand if that is want you want. As for the "running around" surely relocating to a new country would be a far greater upheaval than a couple of trips to immigration once a year.
