  1. Here's a tip go change your front tire for a 90/90 and then decide if you need to change scooters. You will have no problem with stability at 80 km or even 100 with the wider tire. If not get an airblade and put the 90/90 on the front and it will be a better bike than the pcx125 and more durable for around 18 or 20k for a good used one.

  2. Glad to see Thai police are starting to use less-than lethal devices and techniques. I can't say I have ever seen a Thai policeman carrying a stun gun. "Grabbing" at a man waving a meat clever, who has just killed or tried to kill two people, is not a wise course of action. The officers are very lucky not to have sustained major injuries themselves. In America he would most likely have been shot. Surprisingly, Thai police are very gun shy for some reason.

RIP Mr Chalermpol, and I hope Ms. Rariya makes a full recovery.

The police are not "gun shy" they are merely taking all actions to avoid injuring or killing the suspect unlike in America where it is the police pumped up on roids and carrying army style gear with a quick finger on the trigger.

  3. i think its funny that english teachers are still making the same money as they were 20 years ago, without the benefit of a work permit.

in 1996, base level for a univerisity gig was 26,500 with some other benefits thrown in, to the tune o 3-4k full salary during holidays and the ability to treble that with privates.

seems a mugs game now, back then it has difficult to break a 1000 baht note.

I think you can largely thank the agencies for this pocketing all the cash.

  4. I would call the filth and report it stolen.

Spoonman has a good idea.  Since it is legally in her name tell the guy return it immediately or it will be reported stolen.  Of course have your wife do this lol.  I sometimes wonder if Thais or so trusting or its just the idea of getting something more easily then hoping things work out in the end.  Is it face that drives them to do such dumb things?

  5.

Motorbike taxi once told me it was a 400 baht fine to drive on a walkway/sidewalk. So I doubt it's legal.

The law states that it is illegal only w/out "good reason" which is left up to the cop to decide

Sent from my GT-I9300T using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

So most likely it is then illegal for a falang but okay for motorbike taxi lol.

  6. I would go up 10mm only , due to the wheel / rim width.  IE 90/90 rear 33-38 PSI (if 2 up) , 80/90 front 32-34 PSI.

Can fit 90 no problem on both rims and the 80 will improve the steering but the 90 will make a huge difference.  Case in point I can comfortably cruise at 90 or 100 km/h on the Airblade with only one hand on the bar and no misdirection.  I cannot say the same for the 80 size.  If anything you can put a 90 front and 100 back but just go the two 90's and lotus doesn't have the 100 size anyway in michelin.

Additionally although nice to be exact with the tire pressure it is largely a waste of time here with tubed tires that lose 7 psi per week.  Just don't overinflated or underinflate but keep in a zone of 25-30 psi if possible.  If you put 33 in you will have 30 or so in a day or two.  Probably why Thais may think they are doing you a favor when they put 50 or 60 psi.  I a few weeks you will be back to appropriate pressure ranges but you will take big risks in the process so don't overinflate.

No it is legal.  I recently took the Thai motorbike license and this was one of the questions.  The answer was during heavy traffic it is legal to drive on the sidewalk.

Where is the proof Russia shot down the airliner as you claim?  At present there is no solid proof either way but it is looking more and more like it could well have been a Ukrainian jet rather than a rebel missile. That is why most sane people want an investigation before a war.  Secondly the U.S. did have a lot to do with the overthrow of the Ukrainian govt. and Nuland herself saying the E.U. and talking about 5 billion spent to overthrow what was an elected govt.  This is what started the ball rolling.  Putin may not be innocent but you are a hanging judge without a trial and this lack of judgement and proper presentation of facts could very well lead to a war that could escalate and go nuclear.

"You've got a Russian government that has made a conscious decision to use its military force inside another sovereign nation to achieve its objectives," Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  If this wasn't so insane it would be funny.  And Iraq and Afghanistan were not sovereign nations?  And under what pretense "weapons of mass destruction".  How do we know this same level of integrity is not being employed to create another conflict in Ukraine?

Hold your horses and the arkansaurus too losworld.

Moscow is fueling, supplying, promoting the civil war it initiated in Ukraine.

The ousted president was driven out of office by Ukraine people and went home to Moscow after reneging on his election pledge to sign the Agreement of Association between Ukraine and the EU. People of Ukraine want rule of law, freedom of press/media, constitutionalism and elections that are viable and respected, peace and prosperity, independence, corporate and government transparency and so much more that is radically absent from Russia.

I misspoke when I wrote Russia shot down the Malaysian airliner. I and many others however have been amused by the conscious and calculated campaign of the state media of Russia to present wild out of the blue stories and tales of the shooting down of the airliner by Russian supported, sponsored, armed separatists.

Virtually everything presently happening in Ukraine is directly connected to the Kremlin and to Putin. Even I can't call G.W. Bush to account for this one.

Self-righteous indignation combined with finger pointing should therefore be sparingly practiced.

Your misinformation is exactly why the U.S. is increasingly viewed negatively around the globe.  Time will tell if they get the prosperity and transparency you so confidently predict.  Their former banker leader resigned after the majority of his subordinates chased him out after recognizing Ukraine was not getting such a good deal after all.

Perhaps Russia has put out propaganda regarding the plane we shall see but for you to conveniently ignore the fact that the Ukraine is not releasing the air traffic controller tapes and that the U.S. is relying on "social media" providing very weak evidence is being very naive on your behalf.  And to add insult to injury how can one not be suspicious when the major U.S. media outlets tell Russian they are guilty within hours of the crash?

Try to see both sides.  George Bush has nothing to do with this present situation and knocking him does not camouflage what appears to be a dangerous pro war stance.

Yes you should try to refrain from finger pointing and self righteous indignation.  Apology accepted.

I also installed Michelin (M29S) on two Honda Click, they are awesome tires, make a huge difference. Make sure you have both front and rear.
They seem very strong and can take high pressure without deforming like other cheap ones.

as LL2 said, you will have to go for tubeless with mag wheels, you will be spending 6-8K Baht there for the whole setup or wheels plus tires.

I've got these on my scooter and have to say excellent tires. Even in heavy rain they grip well. I've done emergency stops in floods and these tires do not skid or slide an inch, it's just like stopping in the dry.

And tesco lotus sells them in either 14-80/90 or 14-90/90 for 800 per tire.  I put a set of 90/90 on an airblade and it tracks like on rails.

Ok so i just checked and I had a camel 80/90 with a tube on the back and something in Chinese 70/90 tubeless on the front, magged wheels.

So should I go for front and back 90/90? That will help on sand also? I was on the sand the other day put me brakes on and the front end gave way.

No problem 90/90 on both and if not mistaken I think the michelins at tesco can go on tubeless or with tube.  You will be amazed at the handling with the wider tire.  Just make sure to check with tire gauge after they install as thais typicall put in 50 pounds lol.  I go with 33.

  11. I would put a wider tire on the bike at least 10 wider for each if I were changing.  Big advantage in comfort and stability.  Second a new tire and tube of good quality such as Michelin etc should hold up well.  Another thing is stay off the shoulder as most of the debris winds up there.  Go a bit faster and stay in the regular lanes.  I have not had a flat in over 10000 km knock on wood.

Same thing with any outdated product mate - Iphone 5 is next... how about your tv...?

Sorry..That kind the marketing doesn't happen in the US with what is called leaders cars, low priced models, only in luxury cars and models..and not with open marketing. Factories and dealers sell leftovers low priced models to rental companies at discounted prices. It is not the same game like with appliances. People do not re-sell appliances, or is worry with appliances depreciation values...at least in the US.

By the way...I was in the car business in the US for a while.....I learned now something more about the Thai market...in a hard way.

so Americans should pay more like you did so you are not in a disadvantaged position?  strange logic should be the reverse.

  14. Hi my name is Andy
This is my 1st replyon Thai visa. I married a Thai lady that I met online, we chatted for about a year, she worked for a phone co. In Bankok. I was 50 she was 25 years old. After about a year I told her I fancied her and after her blushes. We arranged for me to visit Thailand. I had nevet been thete before, or even knew much about the place its people or culture. During that visit we got married. I paid a smallish dowery to her mother and bought her some gold. At the time I was doing really well in property. After six month we got a visa and I brought her home to the UK. Six months after that I lost everything in the property crash. Before leaving Thailand we had bought tickets to return in six months. I returned with my wife thinking there's no way she's going to return to tje uk as I was financially on my arse. But to my surprise she got on that plane and came back to the UK with me. That wad Jan 2009 thrte was no building work we had no qhere to live. We worked for an agency for about a year. Then she got a better job. Building work improved a little now we are building our own house. I can only speak for my Thai wife. She is totally amazing. I can't believe my luck. I love her to bits.

yes cannot generalize many are good women but generally think probably not a bar girl...

  15. And here we go with another 'whodunnit' theory. Bangkok/Pattaya has a high number of these cases because of 2 reasons: 1) the railings are nearly always lower on most balconies here. 2) Most high rises around the world do not permit balconies from 2 or 3 floors up. In Bangkok, its not unusual and many hotels have balconies high up. State Tower has balconies right up to the 60th floor! Combine these two issues with loads of booze, and you have a disaster waiting to happen.

Most of these 'pattaya high dives' that you hear about where someone has been conveniently disposed off are just not true. Sure, it does happen. There are definitely cases where people have been thrown off but it is rare. Most of the time, its a simple accident.

Anyone ever stayed at the Hilton in Pattaya? Question of time before someone takes a fall there. The balcony is thin glass and comes up to the top of my thigh.

How can the Hilton be so stupid? Is it really the Hilton or a copy? lol
