  1. I have just spoke to a thaiwomen who is in a bit of distress about her son.

    Here is her scenerio

She has a half thai/american son born in thailand,

Went to US when 3 months old with her and hubby,

She is divorced now and returned to thailand with son, no contact with hubby anymore.

kid entered thailand on US passport, has 1 year visa has to report every 90 days.

She now has a thai passport for him but thai immigration says he still has to report every 90 days.

    She is worried about this.

I told her to leave thailand at closest border which is laos with him and re enter thailand on thai pasport, problem solved.

Is this the case? or doesnt he have to leave at all?

  2. i heard alot of story about problem of my friends(farang) with their girl friend, some people have problem in "Money", some one think thai girlfriend very selffish, only care for themself and family, not him..does anybody having the same problem or other? mind to share with us ?

Money. Thai wifes living in UK I know agree on saying "My money is my money, your money is my money, tilak". It's a joke, you think at first but not really. If wives get jobs and make money will that money be used for household needs? Yes but not the household you think... I have noticed this way of thinking even when the Thai woman has not been working in bar. Men has to accept that, I have, finally. The trick is not to have a joint bank account. That I learned the hard way, before I did that I never knew that your bank can phone you at home! With not so good news may I add. That's my experiance, others may have different views.

Other parts of your question about that women being selfish I don't think so. If you are nice and honest to them they will be same to you. But they are individuals pretty much same way as any other nationals would be. In west about 50% of marriages end up to a divorce. There are some nasty western women out there too... Treat your wife well and, with luck, she'll be good. Goes with any marriage, Thai or not.

Why are you typing in pidgin english?

  3. not the time nor the place. There is nothing in sbk's post to suggest that only moderators have a voice here. But it will be nice for thai women to have a voice on the moderating team. Maybe you have a problem with that?

If you do, take it to support (at) thaivisa.com & not this thread. Thanks

Believe me I AM very happy a thai women has become a mod, I say im all for thai women/men members.

I was just a bit concerned that now she has become a mod now she has a REAL voice, Clearly stated it in the OPs welcome message.

As i said before congrats to mig even though she is a gooner! (Arsenal fan for though who dont know)

  4. Well, I know Boo and I are both very happy to welcome miggie to modding the Ladies forum (and a few others as well). We both felt it was well past time that Thai women have a real voice in this forum. :o

Please join me in welcoming her to the ladies forum

Well thats not very fair on us mere pheasant normal members is it? (real voice)

But anyway well done on your promotion if thats what its called, go miggie go miggie

  5. Cmon heng, Tell us why you never pay the bill? Your thai right?

Sometimes I pay, sometimes I don't (according to the ol' age, wealth, importance, etc. hierarchy). Among peers, those of roughly equal age and wealth, we split the bill. No difference whether it's foreign or Thai friends.

    :o

So when you taking me out to dinner then? Dont worry im not a gayboy but i like lobster! :D

  6. becoz i think givng giving money to poor folk and say you helping them is a bunch of crock droppings!

personally i think guys give to be accepted into village!

Why would anybody want to be accepted into village?

Instead of buying the "Village people" a house why dont you open them a YMCA?

  7. Yes, it is necessary for Bars if you wish to keep values, such as gold, Rolex watches, etc in your resident. I don't want can't afford a lot of expensive things, which on entice the thief. Beside I decided to live in the land of Smile in peace and freedom not in a prison behind bars. Oh! well if you need them get them. To each his Own :o:D

If you want to live in a cave i have heard afghanistan is a pleasant place!

What i mean by that is you stated "I decided to live in the land of Smile in peace and freedom". Your kidding yourself if u think thailand is that!

  8. Security bars in Thailand are definitely the way to go however would suggest that you consider using security bars with inside safety release mechanisms in any areas that you could get trapped by fire in the house (especially if you have children). People die by getting trapped inside their house by fire and not having openable from the inside bars. Here in California safety releases in security bars are now mandated by current building codes if installed in homes .

Know any places in bangkok that sell them jetjock?

    I mean the safety mechanisms.

  9. becoz i think givng giving money to poor folk and say you helping them is a bunch of crock droppings!

personally i think guys give to be accepted into village!

If they give then its there choice, not something you would ever see me doing, There reason there poor is because there lazy!

If they want to be walking atms that cant say no then let them! No hard to you or me cynthailee.

  10. its been 2 or more years since family moved in to new house in village. having their need of shelter taken care of more than adquately, has the family gotten better educated to get better paying jobs to support their new found joy.

or has their need for cash from farang or whomever grown with their new higher standard of living. what good is the new home wo air con, big screen tv, landline phone, hi speed internet,etc.....

are they better off or just same same with new house.

WFT? I dont know you cynthailee but at a guess i would say your ex husband or bf cheated on you with a thai lady? what other reason would the majority of your posts be in the manner they are?

  11. someone in your house with the alarm ringing, robber getting more panicky every second because of the noise. Your alarm hooked up to the cop shop who have no fuel in their motorbikes? You have more chance of being dead than robbed. Get the bars. You may think they are unsightly, but they are very common in many countries.

Get the ones with pretty flowers on :o

  12. Found this on Yahoo, didn't see it on TV yet. A prelude of things to come?

BANGKOK (Reuters) - A Thai video game distributor halted sales of "Grand Theft Auto" on Monday after a teenager confessed to robbing and murdering a taxi driver while trying to recreate a scene from the controversial game.

"We are sending out requests today to outlets and shops to pull the games off their shelves and we will replace them with other games," Sakchai Chotikachinda, sales and marketing director of New Era Interactive Media, told Reuters.

"We are also urging video game arcades to pull the games from service," Sakchai said. An 18-year-old high school student, now in custody pending further investigations and a trial, faces death by lethal injection if found guilty of robbing and killing a 54-year-old taxi driver with a knife at the weekend.

Police said the youth, an obsessive player of "Grand Theft Auto," showed no sign of mental problems during questioning and had confessed to committing the crime because of the game.

"He said he wanted to find out if it was as easy in real life to rob a taxi as it was in the game," chief police investigator Veeravit Pipattanasak told Reuters.

The youth, described by his parents as polite and diligent, was arrested late on Saturday after he was found trying to steer a cab backwards out of a Bangkok street with the severely wounded driver in the back seat, newspapers reported.

The suspect told police he did not mean to kill the driver, whom he had chosen as a possible victim because of his age, but that he stabbed him to death when he fought back, newspapers reported.

"Grand Theft Auto," now available in its fourth edition, has been criticized for depicting violence including beatings, carjackings, drive-by shootings, drunk driving and prostitution.

A senior official at Thailand's Culture Ministry said the murder was a wake-up call for authorities to tackle the issue of violent video games, and urged parents to pay closer attention to what their children played.

"This time-bomb has already exploded and the situation could get worse," Ladda Thangsupachai, director of the ministry's Cultural Surveillance Centre, told Reuters. "Today it is a cab driver, but tomorrow it could be a video game shop owner."

The ministry has been pushing for tougher regulation of video games such as Grand Theft Auto, including the imposition of a rating system on sales and restriction on hours that youngsters can play the games in public arcades.

A multi-million dollar lawsuit was filed in the U.S. state of Alabama against the makers and marketers of Grand Theft Auto in 2005, claiming that months of playing the game led a teenager to kill two police officers and a 911 dispatcher.

The blockbuster Grand Theft Auto games are published by Nasdaq-listed Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO.O).

Yeah right! death by lethal injection i say.

  13. Is it neccessary to put security bars over all windows and doors of a new house. Would an investment in a security system be enough, or do you need both. If you have the security system hooked-up to the telephone system, and it alerts the local police station, can you expect immediate action if the alarm is activated.

    Faranglandoz :o

    Gets the bars mate.

  14. people are free to do whatever they want. to make us believe they are doing it to actually help the poor is insane.

welfare doesnt work too good in usa, does it work in rural thailand? men give coz they have too, its rural village law :o:D:D ,

you dont see bill gates giving poor whatever to help them, although on occasion he may. he spends money on research to help, provides education programs.

rural los would be better off if someone charged frang who marry a rural a large fee and then used the money for education center for the kids complete with computers and all the bells and whistles. and then provide these kids with jobs. thats how you help not buy giving houses, cars , buffalo medicine......lol.

im addressing the group as a whole not one individual, he may be the exception,

i wish i was smart like the mods here, when i dont care bout something i don t post.....lol. go figgure!

Makes you wonder why farang men, maybe get ripped off in a divorce settlement in their home country, come to Thailand and get ripped off again. :D

Golden rule number 1, dont go to dinner with thais unless you like paying for everyone. <deleted> that, me myself i will only pay for wife and kids, call me a tight ass, well i would call it more like sensible.

Ps i remember few years back when before i lived in thailand just on holiday, my wife INVITED me to go out to dinner with a COUPLE of family members, When i got to the resturant a people carrier full of people got out, Guess who payed? me the INVITE, maybe its a good thing that happened that night because one thing is for sure it wont happen again!

  16. I will always continue to so slinging spinning snap kicks to peoples head, It doesnt really matter if one believes me or not as this is just an internet forum.

But I bet you there is many foreigners who have married into a rich Thai family, its not uncommon these days as more and more younger blokes and comming to Thailand these days and alot of the richer/medium class girls find us younger guys attractive and not looking for money in a realtionship.

I had a hiso girl after me, Her dad owned a resort on koh samet, golf course around bangkok, and her mum owned a restaurant in bangkok with over 30 staff.

Unfortunatly i had to knock her back due to the fact i was married but us young guys do get a better flock that most!

  17. i have only had this feeling 3 times in my life. the first time was in highschool and she moved away during the summer, unrealized love, never to be entirely forgotten. the second time was when i met my now wife, who i knew i was in love with and wanted to spend the rest of my life with 5 minutes after meeting her - that was five years ago and we have been together ever since.

obviously i go out into the world and feel lust for other women. that is easy to handle as it is brief and temporary. this is something more powerful. i feel like it is ripping my insides out. every inch of my body is aching and i have barely been able to eat. i cannot get her out of my mind.

what am i supposed to do? the last thing in the world i want is to hurt my wife. on the other hand, i am only a human being and to push away feelings like this, also feels wrong. we are only alive for so long, should we not embrace feelings like this? what kind of life philosophy is repression?

i dont feel comfortable confronting friends with this as its very personal, so please, many of you are older and more experienced than I am, give me advice.

The monkey can offer you some advice.

Stop wasting your time writing crap like this!

  18. That will not just happen in thailand but anywhere in the world, of course you have to be the sort of person who can afford it!

So what are you getting your mum heng? luxury yatch? naming your empire after her? or just some plain old flowers?

IMO it's less common in cultures that don't maintain close ties with their parents and elder generations of their own family.

As for myself, every year I just get mom a new potted jasmine plant (about 120 Baht). She just plants it herself next in line from the previous years plant in the front yard. When she no longer has the strength, I'll get her a wheelchair and wheel her out to watch me or my son or my next child (on the way in 9 months) do it.

    :o

    :D

  19. Well i was meaning it was very unlikely, I mean out of 100,000 thais how many buy there mum a house on mothers day, i wouldnt of thought many, so HENCE the reason i said get real.

I thought thats what you meant about the electric? No i dont rent an apartment, i have my own house in bkk so therefore i pay the going rate. But whats that gots to do with anything?

Not meant as a flame, MH, it was an example to show that if you are not exposed to it personally, you'll say something like "get real," suggesting that it is unheard of. It's rare, but it happens and was an extension of my comment that it was *all relative.* People also do things like name their businesses or new property acquisitions (new apartment complexes are common in this case) after their parents or grandparents as well on father's and mother's day as well as a "gift." Nothing wrong with a card and flowers either though. It's the thought that counts.

    :o

  20. Why on earth would you marry somebody that you don't trust to tell you the truth about what is really a trifling sum in the greater scheme of things?

And posting on the internet about whether or not you should trust your wife? What the <deleted> is wrong with you people? It ain't the Thai girls who are taking the p**s when they make marriage vows, methinks.

    About time.
