  1. If you like waferthin pizze with the real stuff, i.e. Italian salame from Italy, anchovies and not local "pla khem" then see www.ticino.co.th/en/ on the dark side. I've tried at least twenty different pizzerias and none could match the Ticino stuff. No deliveries though as the owner says (correctly), that with the present staff shortage it might happen, that the delivery boys are ..... not showing up to work.
IMHO pizze like any other food should be eaten at the place of cooking and who likes lukewarm or soggy pizze in the first place?
    Just my thoughts though.........

  2. I'll talk to the politicians back home to apply the same governmental care to all those lost Thai souls in Europe. They've ended up in the houses of ill repute with compliments of their fellow countrymen acting as pimps and if they do not behave then ..... we shelter them and fix them with a oneway ticket back to beautiful Thailand.
While I certainly agree that those people need to be helped it remains a fact that they ended up there in misery as these less than a hundred foreign western males. Latter mostly being creamed by their Thai spouses as the Thai law does not essentially understand, that every person is the same in front of the law. Gotcha?

  3. Nothing else to do? I am Swiss and I know how things are in those high flyer venues. Those sales people in these boutiques are trained to deal discreetly with VIPs, speak countless languages and are highly professional.

The boutique owner of said handbag "outlet" was likewise invited to Tina Turners wedding and yes, it is a fact, that Oprah is not known all over Switzerland since the American talk show culture just does not fly in the Helvetic Confoederation.

Regretfully most of you cannot read German as the Swiss papers present a completely different picture. If a "white" is arrogant, then the "white" is arrogant - full stop. If a "coloured" is arrogant then everybody else is a racist.

Get over it; if Tom, Dick or Harry would have been treated like that they would just vote with their feet. Pathetic!

    "Coloured"?

    no Schwartz

No, I meant "coloured". Next to Caucasians (i.e. white) we have this American invention of XXXX-American races.

For me ANY race, religion, skin or political colour is acceptable provided it is lived with dignity, self-confidence and manners without trying to convince me (or any other person for that matter) of the superiority or a particular group.

As said, lets move on; this individual person got pissed over something which had nothing to do with the Tom Ford boutique in Zurich; if some Swiss media is correct it served possibly as a promotional kick-off for Oprah's upcoming subject on racism. As I do not watch the stuff I could not care less - the weather outside is more important 8-)

  4. Suggest to automate the screening and take "Kik", "Kidtueng", "Love" etc. out otherwise the boys will never get anywhere.

Quite obviously the police has nothing better to do and none of them are willing to man an immigration counter at border crossings to ease the border crossing.

On the other hand it explains now, why they send the boys to quick-fix English classes. Must allow them to screen also the non-Thai messages. Given the (plausable) number of users I would assume, that every second there must be a million or two messages crossing the networks.

Keeps them busy and less ransacking at intersections shall take place then!

    Pathetic!

  5. Pheu Thai MP thanks MPs for passing amnesty bill

    By English News

The highly-protested bill was passed by the Lower House by 300 against 124 votes

300 brown envelopes duly passed out whistling.gif alt=whistling.gif>

You forgot the following statement quote "35-member committee was set up to scrutinise the bill within seven days"; so that is 245 man days or one whole year to scrutinise. No tokens of appreciation for those busy fellas shock1.gif

  6. Well, what do we know?

Democracy in Zimbabwe might be worse though than living in colonial Rhodesia and life in Harare is harsher than in old Salisbury for all I know :-(

Is Morgan Tsvangirai the solution to the problem or part of it? Started up as rival opposition, joined Mugabe in his hoaxy government as PM and lost the election again against Don Robert. Tsvangirai's moment might (MIGHT) come once the old fart Mugabe is buried and latter seems to just not happen anytime soon!

Meanwhile another African state dies a slow "democratic" death to the utter hardship of the uneducated locals .....

  7. Question a little bit off topic.

In what countries Yingluck has been in Africa?

I read an article of signing a wildlife protection treaty between Thailand and Tanzania the other day.
I assume hence, that Thailand's Air Force One flew to Dar Es Salaam to get the paper signed at the lower right corner where the pencil cross is.

Ever since the Somsaks at Chatuchak (JJ) Market in Morchit increased prices for all those species of endangered wildlife animals on sale there. Tagline there is "if it is still alive we can get it for you"!

Alternatively it maybe was a secretive mission on hiding oil slicks ......

  8. There is Krombacher and Veltins, both from Germany. Both taste as beers though come at the very same import duty as alcohol beer as non-alcoholic is not quite correct. Apparently alcohol-free beer contains 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000001 % alcohol and hence is taxed like any other beer import from non-ASEAN which makes it an expensive sipp!

  9. Nimit Kangkajit walks a very tight rope once the "farangs" are identified as "Russians". Not only are they smarter, but also more used to deal illegally and push their business through without much asking.

Maybe it is time that Thailand looks towards 21st century; this might help to understand, why Bali, Cambodia, the Philippines and even Malaysia has considerably higher tourism revenue.
Somsak skinning tourists alive upon arrival at Phuket, Don Mouieauiong or Swampi will have to look for a new job/victims anyhow. I, for one, work here but would not spend my hard-earned vacation here (anymore).

I do not subscribe to illegal activities but Thais need to realize that they are not the centre of the universe. If "illegal" travel agents illeglally are in thriving (legal) business then there is a loud message in red ink on the wall of Thailand!

  10. Lots of bits and pieces here. The following applies (and I'm zigzagging in and out monthly) on ENTRY with a THAI registered vehicle (irrespective if arriving from Thailand, Cambodia, PR China, Malaysia or Vietnam):

    - vehicle registered in the drivers name; if not, then a power of attorney of the driver (ID card, PP copy all countersigned in triplicate) is necessary, although you might not need all three sets as documentation is "individual" from post to post

    - the blue car registration book (and three copies signed again) needs to be present; if not, then a power of attorney is necessary (i.e. finance company)

    - the car needs an original ITP (International Transport Permit) being a purple booklet with the car details as well as a few empty pages to stamp the vehicle in-/out of the countries. Available at your local DLT (Department of Land Transport). Validity one year, renewable another two years and then you get a new ITP

    The details:
Permission to take registered car out of the Kingdom:

    http://vigportal.mot.go.th/portal/site/PortalMOTEN/menuitem.8de1531571e139ec38537ff5506001ca/

Issuance of international license and country sign:
    http://vigportal.mot.go.th/portal/site/PortalMOTEN/menuitem.197d274c8fc539ec38537ff5506001ca/

    - entry is possible for all vehicles at all border points, EXCEPT motorbikes from Nongkhai to Thanalaeng (Friendship bridge)

Your local Thai-license is in fact an ASEAN license hence those dinosaur grey cardboard covered international licenses are absolete.

Get the vehicle insured; you cannot afford not being insured in Laos.

PM me if you need more details 8-)

  11. Next please ......

We all know that booze is always and everywhere available for the non-aliens.

TOT's statement is crap; the (non-verified) 25 million aliens visiting Thailand yearly for blah.blah.blah stand in stark contrast with edited figures of 8.6 million tourists to Switzerland leaving a hefty USD 17.56 billion or THB 60'000/visitor behind. Vienna's Schönbrunn alone saw 2.8 mio visitors leaving THB 586/visitor while the 17'900 daily visitors to the Eiffel Tower pay THB 360/pax for their "quickie".

All those visitors eat and drink and developed countries have no "non alcohol" days. This is with mosques, synagogues, temples and churches alike and no such funnies like "no booze" days to preach the sinning of wine- and beer loving among tourists.

As a restaurant operator I remember the season 2007-2008 where five weekends were dry for various governmental, communal as well as by- and post-elections and three weekends our friends of the cloth were at it. Eight out of 26 is quite a dry high season, don't you think so?

And in our case some 97% of our esteemed customer base is ...... non-Thai and non-Buddhist. While we don't pour nice wines into coke bottles or coffee cups we consequently just cook the books to ensure that the financial impact on our business ends on the tax officers desk of these governmental inferiority complex-laden law makers!

It's Thailand losing out but then again, it is their country and we all are aliens in their interpretation!
