Found half roasted duck, frozen, at my Big C. But seasoned already.
    Will continue looking around.

You surely cannot be serious? Why would you even think of going to Tops, Villa etc  for such basics?

Finding a whole, fresh Duck, Chicken - or even a Goose if you are really connected to the Christmas "Spirit" - is no problem, it's certainly there in your ตลาดสด or "local market" in Thailand if you just look.

In Thailand a 1 Baht Tip is regarded as a deliberate, calculated insult to the Server - you would be safer not to tip at all.

I'm pretty sure that Kiss is VAT-registered. The simple fact that they can't produce a VAT-receipt is just that you're probably the first one ever that has asked for one.

VAT has nothing to do with paying operational expenses e.g. staff-wages.

Another inclusion may be the 10% service charge; that can be used by the owner/manager up to his discretion.

For many customers however, the 10% service-charge is a reason not to pay a tip.

Obviously I cannot comment specifically on the restaurant the earlier Poster mentions, however many such places, if Registered for V.A.T., show the V.A.T. on the slip of paper generated by their cash register - this is accepted by the Thai Revenue Department as a Tax Invoice (ใบกำกับภาษี) which the restaurant uses in their monthly PP 30 submission to the Revenue Department - and no Company can issue two V.A.T. Invoices for the same transaction.

(There is no such thing as a "V.A.T. Receipt" by the way).

That said, in any case you, the Customer, cannot use that V.A.T. Invoice issued by the restaurants cash register because even if your own Company is registered for V.A.T. the Revenue Department will only accept you using that Invoice to deduct from your Companys' monthly PP 30 submission if the restaurant Tax Invoice shows your Company name, your V.A.T. Registration number and other details - which obviously it does not.

    There is no automatic cancellation.

Technically it would not be valid since he does not have a non immigrant visa.

Thanks for the reply UJ, however I am not quite clear what you mean by "technically it would not be valid since he does not have an Immigrant Visa".!

I guess my main query is, once he gets a new Non-B can he simply continue to use the "old" Work Permit or does he have to start from scratch and apply for a new one?

    Patrick

  5. My wifes' ex-Boss has allowed his Non-B Visa to expire and left Thailand to return on a 30 Visa Exempt entry.

The chap has a Work Permit and I would like to enquire if that Work Permit automatically becomes invalid when the Visa expires?

I realise that he will have to exit Thailand again and apply for a new Non-B outside Thailand but I am not sure if he will need to apply for a new Work Permit once he has the new Visa.

  6. This never ceases to amaze and irritate me.

Why do so many  "actors" somehow feel that because they happen, by mere chance of birth, to look attractive - and have managed to remember and repeat, on instruction, like Pavlov's dogs, words in movie parts, that their opinions should be somehow special: There is little if any intellectual ability involved in what they have personally contributed to the world ....... someone else wrote the dialogue, arranged the choreography, lighting, cinematography etc. - ergo the "actor" has little or no special personal nous.

Why, therefore, do these people think that their opinions should be personally addressed by the President-elect of the United States - or be deserving of more attention than that of the ordinary man in the street?

I don't think the OP means that the paperwork is in his name, he is stating that the "company incorporation" papers are in 4 names, his and three other Thais (a normal property structure)

If the other Thais are the relatives that you (OP)  want to leave your shares to,  then nothing needs to be done, since upon your death, one of the other "owners" will take up the "directorship"  based upon the number of shares they own

If they are not the relatives you want to leave the condo to, then you will have to state who is to receive your shares upon your death in your Last Will and Testament.  That will make them Director and they can decide what to do about the other share holders and decide whether or not they want to close the company and put the condo in a Thai name

Will cost anywhere between 20 to 50 K THB to legally close a company so take that into account

And by the way OP, the reason this was not explained to you is because the agents did not want to lose a sale, and a knowledgeable  consumer would never buy a condo in a company name , since there are legal alternatives;  ie. in the farang quota

A lot of misunderstanding and / or misinformation here:

    1)

"If the other Thais are the relatives that you (OP)  want to leave your shares to,  then nothing needs to be done, since upon your death, one of the other "owners" will take up the "directorship"  based upon the number of shares they own."

You are confusing "Shareholder" with "Director", the two are entirely different.

A Directorship can never be inherited, passed on or bequeathed - a Director is appointed by Shareholders in an Annual General Meeting or an Emergency General Meeting and must be approved by a Majority of the Shareholders at that meeting (if a Quorum is present).

A Shareholder is anyone who bought, or has been bequeathed, Shares in the Company - i.e. Shares can be passed on at the whim or wish of the original Shareholder - however Directorships cannot.

    2)

"If they are not the relatives you want to leave the condo to, then you will have to state who is to receive your shares upon your death in your Last Will and Testament.  That will make them Director and they can decide what to do about the other share holders and decide whether or not they want to close the company and put the condo in a Thai name."

Again see above - your death will not automatically make the inheritor of your Shares in the Company a Director (even if you, yourself, are - which you do not make clear in your Post).

    3) There is absolutely no need to close the Company upon your death - which in any case you could not do as a minority Shareholder - or even as a Director (which we do not know if you are) - it makes no difference at all, the Company is a legal entity in itself and will continue to be so even after your death . It can only be closed by a Resolution passed at an AGM or EGM which would need the approval of a majority of the Shareholders, and you - or your Heirs - only have a 49% holding.

    4) There is no alternative but to make a Will bequeathing your Shareholding to someone else after your death - then it is in their hands to decide what to do with their minority stake in the Company.

My TW makes them , I got so fed up with the pink things from Lotus and Makro they ruined the chips they went with. She makes ones with herbs in for me and ones with peppers and chillies in for her sen.

Are we talking about Sai Ua (ไส้อั่ว) here?

If so, the very thought of eating them with chips truly horrifies me - why not add a couple of fried eggs and some baked beans too?

On a more serious note; there are a couple of sellers in Paradise Park market (Pattanakarn Road in Bangkok) who make very good Sai Ua (excellent place to find หมูกรอบ too by the way - although that's a Nakorn Pathom speciality, not from Chiang Mai).

    Patrick

  9. If the Condo is in the Company name and you own 49% of the Company Shares then you should simply make a Will bequeathing your Shareholding to whoever you wish.

That said, if the Condo was bought in the name of the Company I do not understand why your name should appear on any Documentation regarding the Condo or its purchase.

I get an attack every 9-12 months. Usually 2+1+1 Colchicine 6mg gets it solved.

Just went to the pharmacy and tried to fill up my emergency stash... Guess what, no longer available?  Anybody any suggestions where to get it from? Even mail order would be OK.

You might try the large Pharmacy just past Soi 4, Sukhumvit - next door to Bully's Pub. They have the largest stock of a huge range of medicines etc. I have found in Thailand. Staff speak excellent English too.

    I'm jealous!

I was delighted to see that reference but extremely disappointed at the service I received from the Company.

I tried to Order 2 bottles of Islay Malt but had a query on Delivery - because the site Quotes a next day Delivery in Bangkok but when I tried to complete the transaction the only option available was "3 - 5 working days" and obviously I was not prepared to stay at home all that time to accept Delivery! I called their "Customer Service" number for clarification 3 times but was put on endless "Hold", Emailed them but no response.

The Order was only Baht 11,000.- or so, so perhaps not of real interest to the Owner?

  13. I realise that this response does not address your particular question - however that's partly because you do not specify your reason for sending flowers.

    That said:

Unless the flowers are being sent as a Wreath to a loved ones' funeral, it's usually not a good idea to send flowers at all.

If your intent is to send the flowers as an "I love you" gesture, as would be quite normal in the West, most Thai women would not appreciate that at all; their feeling is that the flowers will die within a few weeks and nothing remains; in other words you have wasted money on a fleeting, ephemeral item.

If you want to express love and ergo commitment send something useful, something which will remain long after flowers have died.

My understanding is that you should never mix passports like this on a trip. In this case the British passport will show that you entered the UK, but never left and the Thai passport will show that you never left Thailand but you entered. You passports are inconsistent. Can cause you problems with Immigration in the future.

    "

    You seem to misunderstand:

Entering the U.K. a Dual National (UK / Thai) uses his U.K. Passport, and exiting the U.K. he uses the same U.K. Passport, so "in" and "out" match and are cancelled in the Immigration records.

The same situation occurs in Thailand when he leaves Thailand and returns after his visit to the U.K. using the Thai Passport - "out" and "in" match.

No possibility of a problem at all.

+ 1 for Lopburi 3 & Patrick's replies, apart for the need for the birth certificate, if she has a Thai passport then the immigration would have no reason to question her citizenship.

    When I said

"it may be helpful to take her Thai Birth Certificate too, to show Immigration that she was born here",

I meant it's simply a sort of "belt and braces" precaution, at least on the first exit from Thailand and particularly, I think, if the child looks more "Farang" than Thai.
