Check out:
Teddy Ska, performing most nights at the Brick Bar, in back of Buddy Lodge, Khao San Rd.
T-Bone (ska and reggae), every Fri night at Saxophone Pub, Victory Monument.
ska band at Park 3, Suk Soi 66, every saturday night (late); I forget this band's name but they're excellent.
Sounds worth a visit. I'll be in Bangkok in a couple of weeks so I shall check these out - Park 3 is close.
I used to go to a place called St Moritz run by Gaz Mayall in London (gaz's rockin blues) -- maybe these Ska outfits will bring back those memories!
When did you last visit any of these venues?

The answer to your question is...it's an opportunity!
I would love to play my old tunes again to an appreciative audience.
My Top Five played to death Jazz Funk & Funk tunes from the 80's (not in order of preference)

Interesting selection - you must have been a white sock soul boy?! Goldmine?
Have you tried anywhere in BKK ?

please go over there and place your votes so we have a final answer, as thaivisa will put 5000b towards the bill at wherever is finally decided...
Ok - Is this still on? As a newbie I should make an effort I guess, so I shall make it - 29th , right?

The Balance health club on Sukhumvit Soi 30/1 is nice. It has squash courts, gym and swimming pool etc. It is between Tong Lor and Prom Pong BTS.
Thanks, Asha - I will pop down this evening and take a look. That's even closer + sounds good.
cheers

If you go @ 2pm'ish OR on Saturday morning you'll be ok traffic wise, or take the BTS to either Chong Nonsi or Saladaeng and get a Taxi from there, shouldn't be more than 5-10 mins from either..
Try around Nana between Soi Nana and Soi 5. Especialy 'round "Little Cairo." Loads of small places to phone, fax and email. Don't know about 300 pages though.
Thanks topDogger & RussianRobert - I think I will try a Saturday afternoon run as suggested. Will let you know if it works out for me.
Thanks again.

The Emporium (Suites) club is nice and not too busy.
Same for the The Capitol Club at President Park Apartments on Soi 24.
If those don't suit you, check out other gyms in hotels or serviced apartment buildings as they usually have good facilities and equipment. Smaller than the clubs you mentioned, but usually no crowds.
Thanks, Eros. But can you use the gyms in the serviced appartments if you are not staying there?
E.g. I was staying at centrepoint on Thong Lo (highly recommended, by the way) - but they won't let me use the gym now I have left.
I will check the suggestions you give - thanks again for the assistance
Ok - Eros - I checked -- yes I can use; fairly expensive but a good option. I shall try some other places...
Thanks again

Any alternatives?

Cannot get the song out of my head now - "there's a Ghost in my house, i cant hide" la la la la. Fading memories of days gone by !!!! those were the good old days.
Tune indeed....
Just joined and following up on this ---
What about in Bangkok? Latin, funk, soul, Brazilian - where, and if not, why not?
Anyone interested in getting something together here?
-
What about all those shops opposite immigration soi suan plu?
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, suppose so. Bit of a trek though....?
Surely somewhere closer to Thong Lo etc....?

Hi,
I am a long term fan of Brazilian, latin, reggae and soul / funk music; Strangely in this city of nightlife and clubbing, I can't seem to find anywhere that plays it.
Is this an opportunity? Should I pull out my collection of old rare 60s and 70s tunes, and open a club?
Interested to hear from others on this topic
Cheers,

Hello,
I've been trying to find a cheap printers near Sukhumvit - Thong Lo would be ideal.
Sorry if this has been dealt with - but the one mentioned on Soi36 I can not locate.
I tried the Emporium --- stupidly It was of course, far too expensive.
I need to print several 300+ page documents, B&W, and get them bound etc...
Any replies greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Phaethon. I am not sure how well tuned my ears are to make out afro-cuban rhythms in Patpong... I guess you can't remember which direction / where?!?!
