I believe there is a rule somewhere (maybe not within law) that states entry is refused if foreigner has been in Thailand more than 180 days, in the current calendar and without a long-term visa.

That seems reasonable and maybe why they refused entry.  The whole picture to immigration was probably that he was living in Thailand.

  2. It happened to me on a Visa run at Sadao.  The officers 3 year old daughter was sat on desk helping out.  She stamped me for 7 months instead of 3.  I noticed when I got home and went to local immigration office. Senior officer told me it was ok as they have to stand by whatever they stamp in passport, so I dont need to bother about it....  But.  If there is any overstay then the officer who was responsible had to pay the overstay.  So I got them to rectify the mistake....   So up to you whatever you do

  3. Just a follow up to my enquiry. I went to the the Yontrakit dealer and they had the scanning device needed to check out my car and did some follow up work. Helpful garage and not too expensive. Dont think that they have seen too many older :Skodas in Phuket. The Superb Estate looked good too me but i have cut my losses on cars in Thailand and the Octavia is with me until I expire. Will use this garage again although a bit of a drag from Krabi.

  4. I have a 10 year old Skoda Octavia which needs the computer resetting as the engine oil light doesnt go out. Anyone know of garage that handles VW or Skoda. in phuket. I live in Krabi and dont fancy the drag to Bangkok

    Thanks for any feedback

  5. I saw Dr Parry 2 days ago. I cannot speak too highly about him. The back pains I went to see him about were not his within his scope, they were for a cardiologist. He referred me on to a superb cardiologist who has given me the first accurate diagnosis after 6 weeks of trailing around various doctors and hospitals.

I thought Dr Parry was very proficient and his examination was thorough. Incidently I did leave his surgery bring able to turn my head and look over my shoulders, which I have not been able to do for many years.

Seeing Dr Parry was money well spent

  6. My suggestion would be that you do the transfer in the province where the bike is registered (and presumably where the seller lives as well). Then if there are any problems they can be fixed on the spot so to speak.

Then after all the paperwork is cleared take the bike back to your province and re-register it in your name locally. That is easy and not too expensive either and only you need to be there.

It will take a couple of hours for the bike to be inspected and a new number plate made.

We have arranged that we go to the bike shop where he bought the bike, for them to raise the bill of sale and affidavit.. Then we go to the tax office to transfer ownership in the book. He will take passport and work permit. i will take passport and letter from my immigration offic for proof of residence. Then I give him the money and when i get back home at some time I will reregister in home province..

    I hope that covers everything

    Thanks everyone for your imput

  7. Buying in Phuket and live in Krabi. I seem to remember when a farang friend sold his pickup in Krabi, with a Chiang Rai plate, he had to get a form signed by immigration here in Krabi confirming his address in Krabi s othat the Tax office would transfer ownership.

I never usuallly bother but the way things are going it seems best idea is to follow the system and register the vehicle in my name, in case of accident, theft or whatever might be waiting down the road

I am going to buy a bike off a farang, in another province. The bike is registered in his name

I don't know where you live, but if in Pattaya, it's a pain in the ass...

Alltogether, you have to go THREE times to DLT Chonburi!

One time with the bike, to check the frame number.

  8. Thanks for info. Does he need to show proof of residence from immigration

Signed copies of passport incl pages with visa and entry dates, signature in reg. book, sig. on power of attorney form and bill of sale. The last 2 forms can be had at any mocyc. or car dealer.

  9. The Mazda 2 sport is a very likeable car. Has everything going for it, except there is no English

owners manual [so they say] and the media player is too complicated for my better halfr. It qualifies for the 100K rebate. It feels bigger than it is. Rides well and is nippy.. It would look better inside if she would take off the plastic wrappings

time to get online with your bike shops in your home country. It is a wild idea, but if they have what you need, then someone will bring it to you.

OR...go online to bike shops in Singapore. Could be that the hub you are looking for is awaiting your arrival...???

    Best.....

thanks for suggestion burgdawg, been online for past few days. .. nothing available at what i can afford , plus high shipping costs and time. probike in bkk tell me to buy a new set of wheels as easier and cheaper option....................lol

just hoping someone on tv may have something

  11. The Ritchey Zero rear hub on my road bike has bearing problems and i need to replace with something as soon as possible as i am due to leave Krabi for Singapore in 2 weeks

Does anyone have, or know of a 32h rear hub [black] for 8/9 speed, that is available. i would take a set if i have to , front 28h. or even a second hand set of 700*23 wheels if price affordable

Tried local bike shops and phoned others and not getting anywhere fast at all

    Thanks in anticipation.......................

  12. I have just noticed this post and can add that I also had problems with Tesco Aeon ATM machin

I have used it a number of times and it has been ok. However , earlier in this month i used it and never got my money from it

The bank slip indicated the amount of money asked for but also said not paid out. So i queried with the staff who wanted me to leave the machine, which i would'nt do. I got my gf on the phone and they told her the machine was out of order. but no sign up, and it had been used before me as i had to await my turn.

The manageress [maybe] wanted to hide but eventually got someone on the phone who went through the usual business of check with your bank. which i did, So that cost me time and money and then 2 days later the Aeon bank had taken the money from my account, although it did return again

So they knew the machine was faulty [???????]

At the tine my opinion of the staff was that they were unhelpful and i even wondered if it was supposed to have been my fault.

Anyhow, i wont be using that one again

  13. Looking for a cheap room for a few nights next week, convenient by metro or walking to the Fortune centre. Am i asking for the impossible to be under 700bahts a night with wifi or internet connection... Have'nt stayed in Bangkok for a few years so not up to date on transport links, prices etc... Anyone know what time a day starts for booking as arriving at the unearthly hour of 4am at Mochit bus station. Thanks for any info.

  14. Seen what I think is the highest price for a CBR250R today.

On show in Krabi was a red ABS model for 139K bahts. !

The girl did give me a nice smile when she told me and went and told the boss when i told her 115k on the internet but he didnt smile at me.

So I just said no thanks I buy in Bangkok too expensive Krabi

  15. I go to Cherry Bike after trying a few of the others mentioned and find it to be real good. And the service was excellent, not only did they call me when my bike was ready but it was spotless after they service it, I do wash it after I ride thru the muddy rice fields but it's still has muck in the parts (another of the mentioned shops would not even wipe off the area they were working on and told me they do not clean bikes!) I found in on google, it's on 118 (nawart rd.) right before 3029 intersection of heading from town.

I also have used Cherry Bikes a number of times and found their work well done and a fair price and they are very helpful and will they also discount prices on equipment as well.

IIts easy for parking outside which is why I went in the first instance

  16. There was a Honda display in Tesco Krabi when I went in today.. quite a few Scoopies and one CBR 150i.

I spoke with a girl from Honda in Bkk and asked her about the CBR 250i. She told me out in 2 months and when I queried that , saying but they are out this week in BKK, she said that there was not enough production to go around and that first deliveries would be to Bkk and Phuket, and 'poor' Krabi would have to wait about 2 months. Price about 100k

The 150 was on sale at 78k but maybe included tax etc as they had the finance package at 28k deposit and 36 months at 2,140bahts a month. Looked nicer than the old one and looked bigger in dimensions as well.... I would have thought about buying it, but might as well as wait for the 250 now
