Don't hold your breath for it, owning to the fact that immigration have nothing to do with PR other than processing the application paper work.
No doubt, I am very anxious over it but I have a few things up my sleeve that should help secure it. However you never know with the gov of Thailand hey
-
Thanks.
No Thai income tax paid, I use the 400k option (grandfathered)
Can I apply for RP without being a tax income payer in Thailand?
No. You need a good record of tax payments.
I should be getting mine next year with no tax payments ever but rather 4 years of non immi 0 extensions 400 000 bank credit, wife and kid. My immi officer has assured me that having a kid goes a very very very very very long way.
It is good if you try and build a personal relationship with the immi officer
, Mine knows everything about my life and I always go to the immi office with my wife and kid and the odd pres brought back from London has always gone a long way with her

I got into a taxi on lower Sukhumvit on Tuesday the 23rd to go to the new airport. Well before we were on the express way, the driver explained that the Rama 9 access to the airport was blocked as a trailer truck had gone over the rail. What he wanted to do was to take the long way around through Bang Na. I asked how he know this and he said that it was on the news. I agreed and said that it was up to him.
About half way through the journey I realized that it was likely I had been had. He wasn't listening to the news or the traffic station at all. What he was doing was doubling the cost of the fare by taking the long way around.
May I suggest that you not get taken in like I was. The best thing to do is to have the driver pull over and get out and get another taxi that doesn't pull that bs. This is sometimes inconvenient so (in this case) you must insist on the shortest route which is essentially via the Rama 9 expressway.
If you are not sure of how to explain this in Thai, have a friend explain it to you and then write it out phonetically. It is not very difficult.
DON'T GET SUCKED IN BY THESE SNEAKY CHISELERS!
Aloha
Siki
Is that the route when you circle the airport, go along that road which runs along the runway ? If so I had that done to me last time, added at least another 100 to the fare.

mmmm that was a joke. However your ability to judge the health of Thai R/E from your balcony at night is beyond strange
Usually the most important/vital data is gathered from the field.
If anyone is intersted the Address on Petchburi road is selling for 77 000 sq m which I find to be quite reasonable for the location. It was 8? 000 when it had finished a few months back, I think you would be buying directly from the developer as the place seems empty.

More opinion than news, and a rather out-of-date and out-of-touch opinion at that.
If they had stuck to headline, which is indeed true that another coup would be subject to international condemnation that would be ok. But to say "The crisis in Bangkok was crippling the economy" is ludicrous and based on no facts at all. Anyone sen a crippled economy laying around? We just got handed a 350USD million project last week by a major MNC, doesn't sound crippled to me
Just another westerner too lazy to do the on the ground research needed to really understand what is happening.
TH
I would totally agree with you but the tourist trade is hurting although some crazy people seem to think that this does not matter and has no relation to Thailand's overall economy

If Isreal thinks it is in danger it will nuke Iran without a doubt in my mind. I do not think anyone wants Iran to have a nuke although I would say the persian's as people are amazingly polite and nice. I certainly do not have any problems with them
I doubt the Israeli air force will use nuclear weapons given the explosives technology developed by them and their allies but you can bet the threat will be neutralised.
From what I have been told there are no bunker busting bombs that can get that deep, so the only option is a nuke
Hope not but let's wait and see, the OP is correct as the subject is now high profile in the media. I feel sorry for the general Iranian population, those I have known are extremely pleasant people.
Extremely pleasant, I have many Iranian friends in london who are both Musilm and Jewish and they all get along just fine

I go back to the UK no less than 3 times a year and I have been doing this for 5 years, My airline is Etihad. only 30 000-35000baht return, brand new aircraft B777-300 and A340-600/500 (which are the two safest aircraft in the air today), clean and comfortable, always empty apart from the return flight from Abu Dahbi - Bangkok. Once you have got a Gold card every flight you take to London you receive 19500 airmiles, Silver 16250 and normal 13000, you get usage of Etihad lounges, extra baggage allowance, priority boarding with first and busienss class and a lot more. With Silver you also have lounge access and baggage discount.
For a free flight to London return(not incl tax) is only 75 000 airmiles, you can also add family members to the club and all airmiles made are pooled together with any member of the family being able to use the airmiles. So if you have a family of 3 and travel 3 times a year and have family members coming to Thailand every year you can make close to 300 000 airmiles a year, that would be 4 free flights for the next year ! name me one other airline with an airmile program like that ?
Fly BA ? hahaha you must be crazy, horrible staff, horrible seats, horrible entertainment system and do not get me started on the silly prices they charge.

I find it to be quick and cheap, for going anywhere within 4 hours of where you live, otherwise take a plane

Utter disgrace how people get out so early. UK Gov is a joke !
Maybe the UK is symapthetic when it comes to drug dealers, after all, the UK was the Number One drug dealer of all time when taking opium from India and getting hundreds of thousands of people hooked on it.
All for the good of The British Empire, the Government coffers and the pockets of the rich traders.
These guys are small fry, not quite in the same league as Pablo Escabar, the British Empire or the CIA.
This is true, Did you ever know what Singapore used to be like when the British were in control ? we are talking about hel_l on earth, H&H Heroin and hookers and all run by the British Empire.

Thomas Thompson, 52 of Dragside, South Shields was jailed for seven years, Aaron Fada, 33, of Braybourne Street, South Shields was jailed for three years and Simon Welsh, 33, of Strathmore Gardens, South Shields was jailed for 21 months.
7 Years = 4.5 years.
3 years = 18months.
21 months = 10 . 5 months.
Small sentences = small crime, non violent, sexual or arsonist, will no doubt do the majority in a Catagory 'D' open prison, and do a fair ammount as a Tagged offender at home.
Luckily these boys didn't get caught in Thailand where they would have been lifed off.
These guys are obviously smart enough to know that, they make money in the west , if they get caught it's a slap on the wrist, spend it in Thailand where if you got caught doing similar, you'd get 99 years.

enjoy that treadmill and keep telling yourself "atleast i dont teach english"
What was the point of this comment ?
just that there seems to be alot of BS and politics involved in working in an expat office environment. look at the bickering, anger and jealousy in this thread.

I have no problem with basing my business in Thailand, More often than not I get the comment 'wow u are based in Thailand, you are so lucky what a beauti'....yeah yeah bla bla bla land of smiles and all that
Trust me Tokyo is twice as bad as Bangkok hahahaha If you do not believe me go and find out
I truly wonder if you base your business in Thailand, or merely base yourself in Thailand. Nothing wrong with basing yourself in Thailand and enjoy good business and a great lifestyle. Many of us do that....
Of course I love it here and that is part of the reason why I base my business here

No I do not think it is illegal but if caught I imagine a 100 baht donation to the BIB charity fund would go a long way to assure you are on ya way in no time. I carry it all the time and you can buy it from all those street stalls that sell the butterfly knives, knuckle things etc etc etc
ps. keep a 100 note in the holder that way you will not have to attempt a bribe but merely accept what the BIB do...which will be to magically make the 100 disappear.

For me I just gave him my passport he filled everything out for me and told me to sign, paid the 1100baht told me to sit down on those rows of plastic chairs and then came back with the visa which had been stamped for arrival and departure so no walking to get the stamp and no possible medical con. So easy, usually done in 10 mins. Once he had the sticker with him and just slapped it on and signed and stamped it and sent me on my way. As I said a nice guy
Do not know if he is still there.
-
I do not know what the deal is now, The guy is always nice and does everything for me I just sit and wait and smoke a cig. maybe it is just a 50/100 baht tip for himself this extra 100 baht but so what the guy probably needs it more than me and he is very polite and supports Chelsea

I used to do this visa run in my early days of living in Bangkok but now find myself having to do it again as my non immi has run out and I am not going to London till christmas.
I did the following which works out the cheapest and the quickest.
3.30am bus from Mo chit bus temrinal 160 baht I think
7.30am arrive bus station take tuk tuk to the boarder 60 baht
7.45am arrive boarder
8.00am clear thai immi (if you go this early there is no one there and there is a line only for foreign passports and not Thai so no long lines here
8.05am arrive at the cambodian immi after short walk (talk to the guy in plane clothes with a gold tooth, really nice guy) 1100 for everything no medical fee he will get the stamp doen for you as well.
8.20am walk back to Thai immi
8.30am clear Thai immi with 30 day stamp 8.40 at the latest
8.35am take tuk tuk to the bus station 60 baht
8.45am arrive at the bus station
9.00am bus back to Bangkok 160 baht
1.00pm arrive in Bangkok Mo chit no later than 1.30 forsure.
So in total 160 x 2 320
60 x 2 120
1100
= 1540 and only in 9 hours. Bring valium
I also love the ride, nice to see rural Thailand and will be good to see this area again after 3/4 years of not going. I am going tomorrow morning at 3.30am sharp if anyone wants to join me.
-
Thats exactly what I think, everytime I would get my non immi before the babe came a long they hounded me like I was a convicted felon but now they do not even speak to me, they just take everything no questions asked smiles and says see you tomorrow
I really think the Thai foreign minstry should seriously look into a new visa catagory if you have a child, although this might open the doors to some people having babies for visas and not looking after them which is a horrible thought. I do not understand why they tell you that someone may visit you at home to check on you but then they never do. I wish they would come and visit me at home randomly over the period of a year and then at the end of the checks say ok you are genuine here is a multiple entry family/resident visa and the fee is ??? ??? How much easier would that be !
