since then I deceided to move to thailand because of her parents. But now I don't have a life any more.

My wife watches TV all night long till 1 am ( not with me of course ) but with the family and some times with our workers we have employed. So in the morning she is so tired and when I complain about her watching TV she says oh let me have my joy. Call me old fashioned but I always thought wife and husband schould be in bed together. I kindly explained to my in laws that the sin sod may be part of their culture, but it was not part of mine. There daughter was marrying a westerner, and not a Thai. Presented money for show, which was given back at the end of the day. and that was it. I paid for the wedding, which was a fraction of what it would have cost in the U.S.

I did give my in laws the gold (about 50,000 baht worth) for a show of gratitude, but it was not asked for nor was it expected. I have a great relationship with my (issan) in laws, and they have never asked me for anything. They were happy that their daughter was marrying someone who she was in love with, and that we are close in age.

Guess it blows the overgeneralized myth that "all Thais are out to exploit the rich falang". My in laws know that i am "working class", and far from rich.

(2) pack up and do a runner just like your wife's friend did as your wife did not borrow the money her friend did.
