Maybe not ugly just lacking in personality. Back in the UK I had a very scruffy and average looking mate but he always managed to pull a nice bit of fluff for himself. Gift of the gab. Lived with his mum though so couldn't hold onto them for long.

But you never know. I was back on the Isle of Wight last year flogging the remnant of my goods and chattels one of which items was an old tent that had been in storage for 45 years. The bloke who turned up to buy it I estimated to be late 50's early 60's. In good shape with a full set of hair. With him was an absolute stunner of an Asian girl in her 20's. Small, light skin and with excellent English. I was drooling and it was an effort to not go over and lick her all over.

But...I couldn't place her nationality. Not English , definately not a Thai or Pinay . Maybe  from HK.....don't know. But it did make me wonder if it was costing him or was it free. Will never know.

Not really . I'm out every day and never have any of the issues he imagines he has. However , I don't live in a tourist area so the locals have not had to deal with a lot of foreigners on a daily basis.

When I mix with Thais it usually ends with smiles . 

I had a German aquaintance , who when speaking to Thais , used to tilt his head slightly back and talk down his nose at them and talk with a superior tone. 

The contempt was usually mutual.

Kept coming back to Thailand though. Strange that.

Opposite of my experience. The more I frequent a place the happier they are to see me.  Speak Thai to them which they like and refuse any tips I leave saying my continued patronage means more to them.

Thanks for that. We'll worth considering. I'll try to find out from my agent how much a return ticket to London is from BKK. I'd rather share with a planeful of Chinese than a planeful of Brit mongers any day of the week.
