  1. What's the best (cheapest) way of preparing a Thai phone for use on a short visit to China?
  2. https://international.thailandpost.com/services/registered/?lang=en https://international.thailandpost.com/track-status/?lang=en
  3. Are there any places in Bangkok that provide travel insurance worldwide for a 77 year old?
  4. I am looking for a small venue (seats up to 12) where I can show a film which is on a USB drive. Somewhere not too expensive and within walking distance of BTS or MRT hopefully. Contact details appreciated.
  5. I tried this with Bangkok Bank but the card they gave me was only UnionPay, not Mastercard or Visa. Maybe I am going to have to start again with SCB? Although I have a pink id card some services such as the prepaid AIS mPay are restricted to Thai citizens. At least I am learning.
  6. The reason I got my initial SCB prepaid card was when I had to renew my UK passport and was required to write on a piece of paper my credit card details and CVC for all to see. I was not comfortable with this.
  7. That's a good point. Thanks.
  8. I had one of these called the M card from SCB but they are being discontinued. I got it from Paragon. Does anyone know where I can go to get a replacement? They are handy because you only top them up to a limit you are comfortable with and they don't expose your main account.

    Removals

Does anyone know of a "man and van" who can remove and dispose of a mattress from a house in Pakkred without it costing an arm and a leg?
  10. Thanks. And thanks for the clear definitions (not pedantry).
  11. It's a restaurant now. More of a snack bar really. There is another set of stairs visible on the left as you go in. They are not the ones. The ones you want are past the toilets out back. I could write a book on my initial attempts to find the place ????
  12. Can anyone clear this up for me. Are these statements true? 1) Health insurance is required if you have a retirement visa but not if you have a marriage visa. 2) If you have a retirement visa and 800,000 baht in the bank untouched this works in lieu of health insurance. Thanks
  13. I had some great fun finding a translation agency for precisely this problem. If you want a certified translation you are pushing it demanding a 48 hour turnaround I think. If you don't mind waiting (you can haggle) try International Translations at Sala Daeng. You have to go through a restaurant and up the stairs at the back so look up for the sign as you walk along the street to locate the right restaurant. They are very professional.
  14. Thanks to everyone. I just missed the boat re SuperRich so posted them to a relative in the UK. Assuming they arrive she will deposit them in her bank and transfer the funds to me.
  15. Old UK bank notes cease being legal tender in the UK from next month. Is there anywhere in Bangkok that will convert them into baht? SuperRich? Alternatively is there anywhere that will convert them into new UK notes?
