  1. Where is the Thai street justice I wonder? Seems that is only for when a foreigner is in a fair 1v1 with a Thai, but an old man, nah don't worry. Uncivilized people and why Thailand will always be considered low.
  2. Thailand is liberal when it comes to various areas such as transexuals, same sex marriage, prostitution (despite what the law says), alcohol and cannabis consumption. It's definitely a hard right nation regarding non-Thais and their place in Thai society. Long-term residency or citizenship is highly unlikely to happen. Citizenship by birth is only possible if at least one parent is a Thai national. Foreigners also have little rights or protection. I'm not complaining nor is Thailand somewhere I want to live long-teem (if I did I wouldn't like how hard it is to get permanent residency), but the highly nationalistic stance does mean that Western liberals should not even consider the place as an option to reside in, unless they want to be quiet, or are happy being hypocrites.
  3. Hitler and Nazis have been quite popular in Asia since I can remember. Most Asian countries are fascist anyway so don't have a problem with that line if thinking and I think many of them like the Nazi chic/styling, as do I.
  4. That read like an alternative monologue in the end scene of the movie Trainspotting.
  5. Modern Liberalism is still alive and kicking in the West. Trump is just a puppet helping the regime continue for as long as they can push that destructive ideology. So called Western conservatives are just liberals from 20 years ago.
  6. Drones, droning. He's just an actor, just like Putin and Xi Jinping. They are actually coming out of the closet in recent years and making it obvious that they are puppets, but still many people are hypnotized by the charade.
  7. I am not looking to settle long-term in Thailand so you are half correct, although the places you mentioned are definitely not a relegation in quality.
  8. If I see this in a restaurant, I would be side eyeing the guy. I wouldn't book a table opposite him, however 'outrage' is a strong word I reserve for more serious incidents. What using such language does is minimize actual serious incident s that deserve outrage.
  9. Believe me as someone who was raised in an Abrahamic faith I have my own views on these people. However, I do have this thing called integrity, which also goes along with how I was raised, which honestly could be improved substantially in Thailand and why I will never, nor want to, fit into such a society.. Anyway, Ladyboys outside of a few red light areas are unlikely to be a problem. They are highlighted disproportionately focused on this site and others.
  10. If they want quality tourists, the obvious steps would be to drop the iron fist on full moon parties, the open flesh trade, protection of foreign tourists from attack and holding culprits accountable (not just a wai for assaulting people and it's all good but a prison sentence), and regulate tourists who are troublemakers with a blacklisting and deportation. However it's unlikely to happen.
  11. It's still a cheap place for a holiday. Double pricing has declined a fair amount from when I first visited Thailand, or maybe because I speak more This they don't try it as much not sure.. Personally it doesn't bother me that much regarding the national parks extra charge, although it does show an issue/inconsistency with being very nationalistic but also heavily promoting tourism. The cannabis part annoys me a little, for different reasons then it would possibly for others. Thailand has liberalized a fair amount over the last 2 decades, but not in a good way for most foreigners if you're similar to me. Same sex marriage is now allowed. Cannabis legal. Drinking culture has increased. All things I have no interest in. Obviously if any liberalizing was going to happen it would have been nice to get a realistic route to permanent residency. Maybe some protection rights for foreigners. But no, in that regard things have got worse if anything making Thailand not a suitable long-term option. Still ok for a holiday, aside from the road carnage, increasing air pollution, and that you could be jumped and the perpetrators will tell the police they were 'protecting fellow Thais' and give a little wai before walking off scot- free, and with it reducing around 99% of the potential 'quality tourists' the TAT keeps droning on about.
  12. Ni hao is ok, maybe flattering to a certain extent, but I prefer to one up that by using nameste.
  13. I can't imagine taking that outside with me, but hey you do you.
  14. I can't imagine anything more pointless than Asian people doing porn.. Maybe Sub Saharan chess tournaments?
  15. Also the advantage of having dogs is you can carry chains. Quite a useful weapon. Better than a pool cue I can tell you that.
  16. Depends. A couple of Pitbulls or Rottweilers tends to calm them down
  17. Whilst I do like Thailand and have done for years, I have to sit back and weigh things up as I have approached middle age, and I am ready to settle down. It seems the obvious red light activity and full moon party degeneracy is not going anywhere but yet nationalism is just as high as ever in Thailand after decades of this crap being in their faces and I think the social engineers may try and blame tourists for any woes in the nation here on out, despite an obvious and easy move would be to crack down on degeneracy, or just embrace it. Not to mention I have seen what happens amongst the locals and yeah the tourists stuff is very docile in comparison. Thailand is definitely not Norway or Switzerland. Personally I don't have to put up with this. A lot of Westerners in Thailand will be moving to other SEA countries (not the Philippines, that place is a post apocalyptic hellhole), and with regret because overall many of us like Thailand and Thai people. It's a shame.
  18. Compare the murder rate in Thailand to Belgium. I used to live in some of the worst areas of East London and what I learned pretty fast is that many other regions around the world pose much more of a threat. Western Europe is not a region I am worried about, and most people are the same.
  19. There are ways to treat people. Say if a deaf 80 year old Chinese man turns up at Rome int airport, and there are question marks on his visa, should the officer give him a clip round the back of the head and tell him to hold on a while, or behave in a respectful manner, especially considering the individual is vulnerable and explain in a polite way what is happening?
  20. Overall Asians don't really do respect the way you may imagine despite some clowns online with their goofy opinions. It's more about what they are perceived to have done and if there are any consequences for not acting in a certain manner. Actual morality and doing what a person thinks is right is more the trait of a European. Thai people are definitely not the worst in Asia for this. Many people are considerate and warm hearted, but still it's not that great overall either. Bareable I would say.
  21. This has been happening for over two decades in Western countries. Foreigners can use excuses to avoid deportation and citizens would use excuses to get leniency on crimes of getting higher priorities on whatever welfare/handout they are after. Common excuses include things such as claiming to be homosexual, or having a 'mental illness'. It all needs to go and by that I am talking about the ideology that has been pathetically getting worse for decades: Modern Liberalism. Feminism, crying about racism, pretending to be mentally ill and all of that <deleted> is done with by scraping that poisonous ideology.
  22. If you're the typical lovey dovey type of Western male then don't even worry about it. You will get rinsed and be another statistic whining about Thai women. If you're not, then it will come down to if the woman sees you as an provider or her romantic interest and that will be based on if she is genuinely attracted to you or not. It's fairly similar in other places, but I find Thai women are quite extreme in this.
