  1. If you have not you might want to post in the family section also. There are legal aspects that will need to be taken care of as well as the visa issues.

You were officially married and are listed as the father and made the registration yourself? Extension of stay would depend on you having custody so that needs to be addressed even before extension of stay issues. Without the mother are you determined to remain in Thailand or might you be better off in home country? Are there family members that might help?

As for money do you have other income such as rent payments/investments or such that could get the figure above 40k per month (this is gross)? You do not have the 400k for bank account method it seems? If visa runs are required it may be difficult obtaining multi entry non immigrant O in the area but that would be the best visa run option.

We were not married. I am named as the father on the birth certificate, but the hospital did the registration ( :) )

Going home not really an option, nothing, no one there.

    No other income :-(

  2. OK, so to cut a long story short, the missus has left me.................me and our 10 month old daughter.

So I am now on my own with my daughter, that bit is ok, but I am now concerned about how I can stay here and look after her. My pension is only about 34K per month, so not enough for an extension. My daughter does not have a passport yet, and I am sure that she would not appreciate hours on a bus on visa runs either!

So basically, what options do you think are open for me ?

PS anyone recommend a nanny ? I need some help, it's my first ever baby ! :-)

    Thanks

  3. A photo is also required. make sure the child is registered in bangkok, otherwise you have to use the immigration office of the place where he is registered. Bringing the taben baan, household registration might be useful, in cas that is not the name as the family book.

Yes, from Chatuchak (BTS Mo Chit) you can take a taxi.

Call me stupid, but I am guessing you mean a photo , (passport size), of me ?

How do I know where she was registered ?

  4. Hi all,

In a couple of weeks I am hoping to get the 60 day extension to my NON-O based on having a Thai child.

    What do I need to take ? I am thinking the following;

    Me

    Baby girl

Original birth certificate naming me as the father

Copy of the family book naming me as the father

    1900 Baht

(I can't take the mother as we are no longer together and she is down Samui)

Anything else I should know or be aware of ?

PS. Is it best to get the skytrain to Mo Chit and then a taxi ?

    Thanks

  5. I am led to believe that the immigration officer has a level of discretion for the issuance of extensions of stay ?

I wonder if anyone has known anyone who has got an extension without quite meeting the criteria ?

I ask because my pension is B35000 per month, so a little under the required amount for extension based on a Thai child, but just wondering if it may be worth applying anyway ?

    Thanks

  6. You are aware that you need to legitimize the child if you want to become the legal father. (For the 60 day extension being named on the birth certificate will be enough).

Mario, while I did not register my daughter at the local (Si Sa Ket) amphur, I am named as the father in the 'blue book' does that make me the legal father ?

I am named as the father on the birth certificate and the 'blue family book', so hopefully that is ok. But would rather not have to go to Si Sa Ket to get the extension as that is where the family registered the birth in the 'blue book'. I currently reside in Bankgok, (as mum and princess do to!)

Sorry, forgot to ask, is this a one off extension or can it be done more than once ?

  9. You can, the cost is 1,900 baht. No time limit.

You would need to show the birth certificate naming you as the father. Taking the child and mother with you might help.

Having never been to Thai Immigration before, I am guessing that this would be at the new office in Chang Wattana area ?

(will def take er indoors and the little princess, will be a nice day out for us all :-)
