  1. I have to say to those people who are adamant that you should book online and not use a travel agent ; I checked online for a one way from Ubon to BKK, It was about 2000B, I then went to my local travel agent who booked it for me, the cost was 1800B. I said to him, but that is cheaper than online, he just shrugged. So perhaps sometimes booking via a travel agent is wise ?

  2. You can apply for a work permit without any problems. Either you get the work eprmit or you get a wp3 form, indicating that you will get the work permit once you have an extension of stay. Based on either the wp or wp3 form, immigration can issue you an extension of stay for 1 year. (Provided the job and salary qualifies you for an extension of stay).

You curently have an extension of your non-O visa.

Thanks, is there anywhere (Police Order), where this is written, so I can show my employer ?

  3. As said in the title, is this for 'visiting' my child, or 'supporting' my child ? My future employer says that they cannot apply for a work permit for me, because my 60 day extension says 'visiting' and it needs to say

    'supporting'.

I think 'supporting' is the 1 year extension, (I do not yet meet the financial criteria for that), and the 60 day extension is for 'visiting', so my stamp is correct and I/they should be able to get me a work permit based on my

    current 60 day 'visiting' extension.

Anyone know for sure, or point me in the right direction ? (cannot find a link to 60 day extensions in the pinned topics)

    Thanks

  4. Have received and send a PM back to the OP.

There is the option of a 60 day extension with simply showing the birth certificate and household registration book and child it self.

50K seems a lot, believe it is possible to do it much cheaper. Especially when the mother doesn't object it is normally a simple routine job which doesn't require a fancy lawfirm. Shopping

around and comparing prices will be more than worth while.

You will need a little more paper work than mentioned above, (I got my 4th 60 day extension last week, each one on a new Non-O from Laos)

Copy of your main passport page

Copy of your visa in the passport

    Copy of your TM6

Correctly filled out TM7 complete with correct size photograph

    Copy of child's birth certificate

Copy of your girlfriends ID card

Copy of the first page of the family book

Copy of the page that shows your child in the family book

    1900 Baht fee

Your girlfriend needs to be with you, but last time we went it was our daughters first day at kindergarden, so she was not with us, but the officer never even mentioned that

    Hope this helps

  5. Many thanks to those that answered my previous questions; now I have a couple more :-)

I am currently on a 60 day extension of my Non-O based on a Thai child, this expires on 11 Feb

I do not start my new employment until 1st May.

Is it possible for my new employer to start the ball rolling on changing my extension to a Non-B and then applying for the work permit

    this early ?

The reason being that it would save the cost of having to go and get another Non-O/B from a nearby country.

    Many thanks

  6. Hi all,

    I am currently on a 60 day extension of stay to a Single entry Non-O for the purpose of visiting my Thai daughter. I have been offered a job, so my question is;

Can I and my future employer go to immigration and change my extension of stay to a Non-B and so start the paperwork for a work permit ?

If so, does anyone know what sort of paperwork would be needed ? (My employer has only done this once before and that was for someone who already had a Non-B)

    Many thanks

  7. Wonder if anyone can help ?

My 90 day report will be due on the 10th of April, but I am off to Laos on the 13th of April

Can I do my 90 day report at the border at Nong Khai (as it is within the +/- 7 day window for reporting in person) ?

This is of course to save a trip to Chang Wattana for the sake of 3 days

Your help is as always appreciated

  8. Just today I got my second 60 extension of stay to visit my Thai daughter (me and mum are not married)

    I took;

1 Completed TM7 form with passport photo

Photocopies of; Birth certificate, Visa page and arrival card of passport, ID page of passport, copy of family registration book showing daughters registration

    It costs 1900 Baht

I would suggest taking mum and child with you , the authorizing officer asked to see both :-)

I was all done in one hour

    hope this helps

  9. Ok, I understand the 750 Baht a month contribution that is matched by my employer. What I can't seem to get a clear answer to is, how to claim ? Do I have to pay first at the hospital ? Which hospitals can I use ? Should I have some form of ID that proves that I am paying into the scheme?

Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks

  10. A Work Permit enables you to work.

A Visa enables you to stay.

You need a Non B Visa and a Work Permit to work and stay. You have to go to a neighbouring country for the Visa.

To give you a bit more time you should be able to get a Double Tourist Visa, This would give 6 months with extensions.

Contact your Thai Consulate and ask.
