  1. Where do you live in the South? Curious as to numbers --- I've added gulf islands so that Samui/Phangan people won't mess up the Surat Thani data, and Andaman side, for those of you in Phuket, Trang, Krabi, Phang Nga, Ranong

    Sorry...................................,

    but why didn't include TRANG?

  2. I want to bring a motorbike from Khon Kaen to Samui,

has anyone any helpful ideas or suggestions as to the most economic and secure way please?

There's a company called DDD. You can phone 1133 on your mob. & get the number. Their use to be a company called Ror Sor Por, deliver anything anywhere, but now its DDD.

They will send your bike to Surattahni, there office near Big C. You can pay extra to get across, or better to ride to the ferry & do it that way.

If you know Khon Kaen well, then you can call to their office.

Drive to the top ov Lao Naa Dee road where the junction is. Don't turn left for Lotus, or right to Big C. Go straight across, and drive about 800m and it's on your right. Very small office.

It's been 2yrs since I lived in KK, so my directions may be a little bit off! Or, go to the post office.

  3. Im looking for a company to freight a container of furniture the furniture is packed already just needs to been loaded. Chaing Mai to Koh Samui around the 20th of November please PM or reply to post with contact numbers/emails

There's a company called 'DDD'. They have branches all over thailand 8 or 10 numbers for BKK. Call 1133 on your mobile & ask For "DDD". There will be in Chiang Mai. There's one in Suratthani & then it will cost you extra to take to Samui. You'll have to barter about the price..................

If you've got a Thai missis She will know of a company called 'Ror Sor Por', however they went bankrupt.............,

I hope this can be ov some help.

  4. You can download the forms you need on the 'Ministry of foreign Affairs' website. This is where all passports are processed. My son was 11months at the time. His finger/ thumb print is on his passport. I went to a local office in Isaan to apply, fill out the forms with my wife. They then send your application to the M.O.F., Bangkok. The passport was sent back to us by EMS. The passport cost about 1200B

  5. I've never had or even seen a 'Teacher's Licence', but I've always had a work permit. Also, I was told 4years ago or so, that certain schools, colleges, Uni's don't get them! Maybe it's because of what they employ you as. As for tax, I certainly don't pay more than other teachers who earn the same amount, and have similar circumstances.

    Who knows?

  6. I'm not too sure about the tourist visa part, but you will need photocopies ov a 'Tabien Baan', house book and I.D. card, which must be countersigned by the Thai person who gives you them to say that you(the bike) live at that address. Also, I had to go to 'Immigration' to fill out a form which they looked at and stampedand gave back to me to give to the transportation office. However, I have heard that this may vary with different provinces.

  7. I think it's 450B, but not sure. However it does include the ferry ticket. Also, sorry I don't have their number, but you will find them on Nipat Uthit road 1, opp. the Kings hotel. From the train station it's your first right(main road).

If you want the early, direct to the pier mini van, then go to the office at least the night before 6pm. When you want to return, they have an office in Nathon, Samui.....called 'Bamboo House' opp. the ferry pier. Once again, it's best to buy your ticket the day/ night before, but they will advise you.

    Have a good trip...............................

p.s. the price ov the van is probably less, 350-450B, so don't worry!

  8. Multi's & singles are completely different. Also, it depends on what job you are doing, what you are employed as.

Bsaically, you need at least a single entry to apply for a W/P. You can then apply/ pay for a 1yr permit or go every 3months to pay & renew before the exp. date. If your visa is extended for 1yr because ov employment/ W/P, then as soon as you cease your employment, you have 7-10days to leave the country or find a new job, and don't forget to inform immigration.

When you leave your employment don't forget to get 'Dtor Tor Sip (10) from your employer. This is very important, unless you like hassle with the authorities. You need this when you begin & end employment.

  9. Sea Breeze, Lamai...........on the beach 650-1200B for full amanities. 5mins walk to entertainment, but only a couple ov clubs.

The Ark Bar, Chaweng ( highly recommended ) on the beach, room 1200B. Friends ov mine from the UK stay there every year when they come. Check them out on the web.............

    Enjoy samui.........

  10. If your broke............their is a cheaper option.

Go to Nathon, to a travel agent called 'Bamboo House' next to SCB. The buses aren't as comfortable( 36 seat?) as the one Rooo suggested, but cheaper. I've used this company for 6 years and never had any problems.

  11. J 'n' D....................thanks for the info...............I'll start saving!

gburns.......................I'll give it a try, as I'm currently staying in the province where I got married. I'll let you know.

    Thanks for the advice/ experiences.................................

    Om

  12. I would like, if possible, if someone can give me some advice/ experience on obtaining legal custody of my son(luk krueng).

Unfortunately, I am still legally married to his mother, Thai national. However, I have never seen or heard from her in over a year now. She disappeared.
