You won't get there the same day unless your lucky. However, I always opt for the night ferry. A little more expensive, but you arrive early next morning 'bout 5-30am...ish, & then 'bout 80baht to chaweng( if you barter the price ).

At present, I'm in Isaan. However, I'm relocating to the south, but I'm willing to travel.
Does anybody know where I can get my little one circumcised?
(No Jokes.......Please)
Have you had yours done?
-
However, if you got your licence in a different province, they will have to check/ send it away, and it will take upto a month depending on which province you live in.

Have you tried Chris from Crystal Pools?
construct, maintain, and repair.

And by the way, what happened to Seatran?

Could/ would anyone please tell me where is Chaweng Palace? It's been 3yrs since I lived in Samui. However, I did visit last year.
Any info, would be most grateful......................
Thanks.

Forgot to mention......................................................(Ghost Rd.)
It's nice to know some things haven't changed on Samui.
-
Thanks Limbos..........................I will be moving to Samui in September.
-
Thanks Limbos!
Have they fixed the 'Ghost Road' yet? And if you could check out more info for me.......very much appreciated.
As for accomodation, it's a priority, but not the top one! At least, if 'the little one' is at school, then gives me a chance to look around for somewhere permanent.
There is no Mrs. Omlagus, so I hope you understand my concern.
Thanks again...........

Well, I may be moving back to Samui with a 2 1/2yr old son, so I'm looking for a suitable nursery for him. He's a 'Luk Krung' and mainly speaks Thai. However, I mainly speak to him in English, so he doesn't have any problems with either language, and also Isaan.
I know Samui very well, however, I've not lived there for 3yrs. So, if any of you out there know of any nurseries, prices, E-mail, telephone numbers, it will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Stamford(TEFL) is a good course and the Tutor, Alan is very experienced and well known in Asia. The course starts of nice and slow and then gains pace after the first week. Unlike some courses they give you some info on resources which i've found to be very useful. For the course you need to buy 3 books and preferably read them before your course starts, but if you can't find them, then it is/was possible to buy a photocopy of them from Alan. They are 'How to teach English' by Jeremy Harmer, 'To teach English as a Second Language' by David Riddel and 'Techniques for classroom Interaction' by David Byrne?
You need to do 2 book reviews, 1 written and 1 oral and participate in a workshop to help give you some ideas. Teaching practice Mon-fri with the occasional Saturday, maybe. Hat Yai is the cheapest place outside of Bangkok to buy goods. On the corners of 1, 2, 3 street are your main areas for shopping and drinking where you'll meet other farangs who are travelling.
Enjoy your courses and don't get to stressed................

My school actually provided the info, but i checked up on it anyway as some things got lost in translation!

Also, useful sites........
www.imm3.police.go.th / www.mfa.go.th / www.thailaws.com
Hope this helps..

Unfortunately i can't answer your last question, maybe Ken can. You could also check out www.thaiimmigration.com/ if it's up and running or there's link somewhere on thaivisa to ask questions but i've only found it once, and the bloody search doesn't help.
-
I'm not too sure Ken as both him and i weren't in Bangkok when it got processed and i can't remember about his passport. I just remember the hassle he was having trying to get his missus(Thai) to sort things out.
-
Yes it is possible to do this in Bangkok. I haven't done this myself but a good friend did, but he did have some 'hiccups'! Why? you can work and apply for a W/P on a 'O' visa.
-
She's getting a passport for her daughter and then re-applying for her permit with the help from the school.
Personally, i think it's farang in general but you know what they are like................
I've seen different nationalities other than Brits & Americans get more hassle at border points but who knows why!
-
To be honest, i've just found out that she has had a lot of problems with Immigration in the last year,............................ for being French. Even the 'Amphur' and 'Tetsa Baan' has given both her and her husband(Thai) grief. One of them turned around and said, "it serves you right for marrying a French woman."
Hmm.....Thailand.
-
Today a foreigner who i work with was refused her W/P by the Labour Dep. because her daughter is on her passport. She has a Non Imm B, so why wasn't she told that she would get refused. This seems 'typical of Thailand'. Nobody tells you and nobody really knows!

Cheers for the replies! I was up in KK last week and was quite taken by the place. It almost seemed like i was in a different country, very nice.
I hired a motorbike for a day and got lost quite a lot but still never saw any phone numbers on houses or signs advertising. I've already tried the Kk website and Eric's, well okay if you've got the money!
I'm going back to Kk the end of next month cos the missus needs to move before me. By the way she's from Udon Thani.
Thank's again.

I shall be moving to Khon Kaen in 4-8weeks but going for a visit in a couple weeks to look around. Does anyone have any ideas of where to look for a 2Bed Gaff? If possible somewhere not too far from a local market so the missus can walk or take a short tuk-tuk ride their with our new born son. I've never been to KK before but have a map ready for my visit.
-
Cheers Kev, a nice reply! The distance is at least double but i just wanted some idea what to expect. I know you can send stuff via the train and they weigh it per kilo but i don't know how safe it is. Sofa and a bed i would leave behind. Not too much stuff really.
Regards.

Does anyone have any info on moving house in Thailand apart from 'don't do it'. Wanting to move from the South to Isaan. Different options and the costs involved.
-
Some bank require workpermit before opening any kind of account for a foreigner such as Bangkok Bank. But some banks don't require workpermit for e.g. Siam Commercial Bank,Thai Farmers Bank and KrungThai bank
Bangkok Bank in Koh Samui didn't! On the application form i just put down my last job in the UK and knocked down my salary a bit. No problems. However, Thai Farmers in Samui are in with the 'Gestapo' Immigration. I was told by them that 330,000B could only last 3months in Thailand if i'm not working. Apparantely they like to pass on info about farangs to the 'Gestapo'.
W*****S!!
Non O?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I have been reading some posts, but i'm still confused. My B visa single entry runs out in 2days. The company I work for forgot to mention to apply for a multi. Am I eligible to apply for a non O, on the grounds that I support my child?
