  1. You didn't put down one of the biggest cost over there---Parking---I am from Surfers Paradise lahong29.....but a plastic Australian----just 30 years there it is such a pity the way cost of living has gone there--a great country I was in Brisbane city last month to buy a ticket back here went to the Air Thai office queen street so I could pick out the seat I wanted, found a small car park, $30 --875B an hour.

  2. According to Mr. Yukhon, the circumstance is probed to be an obstacle for regional trade liberalisation, as it costs investors extra logistic expenses for having to change the car engines when crossing the border.

It must be a sure nomination for most idiotic statement of the month.

Just look at the 1,000's of trucks line up at the channel tunnel , from the E.U waiting to change their engines to drive through and deliver their goods into Britain, before they turn around and change their engines again for the return journey.

Honda Toyota etc-- make their cars here to export to Australia ./new Zealand / Malaysia etc, one production line exporting a lot more luxury cars then Cambodia--Laos & Vietnam would ever be buying.

  3. Harry, I understand you enrolled and like the system, hell, I also like the system, and am hoping it will be applied to everybody.

But at the moment the information is really sketchy, so telling people they can enroll is simply not true (neither is telling people that they can't enroll), there are too many uncertainties about enrollment at present, let alone in the future.

I do not know why people are posting (thinking) there are uncertainties in this scheme ---there isn't I got my card today in Udon Thani and was told that this region is one of the last to come in line with the cards....

Because they are reading and listening.

Since mid-August, foreigners who live in Udon Thani Muang district have the opportunity to join the Thai national health insurance scheme. The decisive criterion is fixed residence, which must be demonstrated by the production of a yellow house book.

  5. But why are they not up to standard---because---I am a standard size ---so I have brought many off the rack suits in London / New York / Sydney and I know these have been made in Asia, and there fine. Also I knew a large Indian tailor in Pattaya some years ago---everyday he had a Fed-X pick up of 10-15 parcels going to Amsterdam/ London ...& most parts of Europe---theses were suits that had been measured up for there then faxed to Thailand--they were cut & just pinned together, the customer (in Europe) would try them on. Chalk marks would be made in places if needed then Fed-X back to be stitched.

The dental trade (I know I diverse,) is especially adapt at this--molds from Caps are taken then Fed-x to Asia for the cap to be made and Fed-x back----That info cones from a friend that works in the Fed-x in Thailand.

But I have to agree---I have not had a suit here that I have been 100% happy with---do not know why.

  6. Alleged hitman Joseph Hunter was a recluse who took care to avoid contact with neighbours, instead holing himself up inside his Phuket home.

Staff at the housing estate paint Mr Hunter as a virtual recluse, a ''good tenant'' who ensured his bills were paid on time but took equal care to avoid contact with others.

Great I would swap him any day for the Farang Lunatics that have moved into our estate.

But seriously I am not trying to paint him as a good guy---but reading the European Newspapers is a little different story than Pkuket (News?) ----at this point of time. he is not being charged with killing anyone

He is being charged with conspiring to kill someone----who did he conspire with, Yes the Police-- who acting undercover offered him $800,000 to kill a DEA agent. when he accepted by e-mail. He was arrested.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/

He was caught in an international sting operation by the DEA, in which agents posed as Colombian drug lords and offered Hunter a contract to kill a fellow DEA agent and informer in Liberia for $800,000.

  7. .....there is no justice for foreigners in Thailand.....

....once you are of no more use....because they got everything they could from you.....you have to be disposed of one way or another....

...on a smaller scale...many of us have firsthand experience with this phenomenon......

That is why I am trying to start this project:

    http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/expats-in-distress-in-thailand/x/4912918?show_todos=true

    (..to help some of us....)

That's all we need, an agent from WONGA......or as this lot is calling themselves INDIEGOGO who is just on here to help us all.......... cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Is it the same rates as WONGA.. 459% or do TV members get a special rate.

  8. "What would happen to Thailand's economy if all farangs disappeared tomorrow?"

There is the other side of the coin Klubex99---- I can hear the screams now if they actually told you / us to go.

We / I live here because I find it suits me better than the other 4 countries I have lived & worked in---when that isn't the situation, then I will look for a greener pasture.

  9. We in Austria also charge the Germans and Japanese double, triple than the locals.

If my parents ordering a schnaps (some high alcohol drink) they pay less than foreigner and the waiter takes the other bottle which is not watered down.

rip off here rip off there.....same same

No h90...that's far from being the same--- What you are doing is ripping off a customer, & as an Australian I can say that if you--or your employer were found out, then action would be taken. So please do not talk about we in Australia when all your talking about is some hole in the wall joint taking advantage of some tourist that wanders in there for a drink---- What the OP is complaining about, is a state ordered policy to charge another fee because of Race / origin ---No we don't have that in Australia, if you get into a line to enter sea world , go to dive the great barrier reef, you would pay the same amount that a Japanese person next to you pays.

As someone that has worked in the Australian Tourist industry ---the place you are talking about.....If it ever existed...... would be a disgrace to Australia and to any fair minded person that worked there.

  10. is it such a big job and hard to report the 90 days? I know other Asean countries has same.

If you have a multiple retire visa you report 90 days or if you are shy meet the immigration you just leave the country before 90 days and when you come back, the new period of 90 days start ... that's all. Because I travel near monthly I also not need report the 90 days if I am not here more than 89 days wai.gif

What other Asian countries make you report every 90 days after issuing a 1 year visa Challenger99-----I have lived in Many parts of Asia--- Could you tell me what countries....??

  11. Does anyone use or know of an accountancy program that will revert back & forwards to Thai / English. I do not mean for every entry so much as just the categories would do.

Doesn’t have to be a professional program, ----prefer its not----something my wife can use, (& I can check to see she is OK) like Quicken / MS Money type of thing.

    Thanks

  12. Every year I do a 6 week pilgrimage BKK to LHR---Usually Eva, get in one end and out the other---its a nice airline, especially for Business class. Its a day flight so while looking down this time I promised myself that I should break this journey up--if for nothing else than just to see something new. I really don't fancy what would be the half way mark--- Arabia, (unless I have got it wrong)--as a stop over jaunt, it doesn't seem to appeal to me very much. Any suggestions for a 3-4 day stop over---and Have I got it wrong about Arabia ? is it a fun--reasonable price place to stop.

  13. I felt stigmatised and uncomfortable in Khon Kaen .

In Some ways you are right Goompa-- it is not what one would call a farrang friendly town---not that the people are unfriendly-- but compared to its neighbor Udon Thani ...which of course has a history of farangs station there for many years, even the infamous Air America flying out of there, many of those folks married in the 70s and now have / are returning to Udon many with adult age children , making it an Issan Town with a high level of English and acceptance of farang culture.

** KK is no where near the de-facto capital of the northeast---all the development is going on in Udon Thani, including the new university & the building of the high speed train station to china, U.T also has twice the population of KK.

  14. You think that she would have missed the car wouldnt you.....rolleyes.gif

But before we hang her lets just recal the last missing farrang story--from Phuket, His Place empty, clothes still there, cold cup of coffee sitting on table-- no sign of him although he was due to fly back home the next day, held a responsible job as a scuba diving instructor living and working in Thailand for 4 years , then money began being withdrawn from his bank account--ATM with person wearing full face helmet, his poor parents who were at a loss---offered 50,K reward, his mother not rich, flew over from America to appeal for help, but finances ment she could not stay long.....Bad things must have happened....Thai people must have done something to him..... 4 months, Yes 4 months after he makes contact with some lame story. The bottom line--I think the English have a cute saying for it --- he was C--T Struck.

Yes Brett Bean == Plonker of the year, lets hope like Brett Bean---this guy's disapearence is not what everyone is predicting
