But that's Biden's baby, so better to just cancel it, right? On top of that the US are adding a huge amount to its debt, the quite opposite Trump promised in his election campaign.

The EU and the European part of NATO have been downsizing their military for decades, believing in diplomatic talks (which has been a disaster), and they haven't woken up before now. Right now Russia do not have the manpower or equipment to take over more European countries, but make no mistake: Russia is in war economy, and they will use the next 3-10 years to massively upgrade their military to be able to invade again. It's in their blood and culture. Europe need to be ready then, because we cannot trust the US to be our ally anymore, under this administration (and maybe the next). Their enemy seems to be China, not Russia. This administration does not give a damn about Ukraine, and abandoning Ukraine to Russia, can be very very dangerous.

Correct. We have lived with Russian threats for decades, but now it's as real as daylight. We strongly feel Trump and the US have abandoned us (Europe), by giving Russia advantages in this war. First, it was said in the same conversation that China would not want Ukraine to lose and surrender their country either, so it seems their take is more or less that a stalement, or a peace deal with today's frozen borders, would be in China's interest. Secondly, there are no evidence of China sending weapons to Russia. They have supported them with technology, chips and help in that regard, but as far as I know, no evidence of sending weapons. China has too much to lose to do that, since they depend heavily on trade with western countries. If there was any evidence, China would most probably be hit with sanctions from EU, and some additional countries.
