    Thank you all for advice.

I was born in Aus, Tassie boy but I think my hippie days like my issan days are best left behind ;)

I have an Aust bank account still I have been using to get the super paid monthly which will stop when I cash it out to buy a unit

Dont drive anymore, I admit my lack of competence.

One query, the 2 years I need to stay in Aust does that mean I cannot leave at all for that time?

I did try use the centrelink site but it confused me.

    Thanks again

    Greg

Leaving Australia will only affect your portability I think.

So if you're intending to stay in Australia you shouldn't have a problem in holidaying.

    All the best mate.

Embark on a harrowing journey of survival with Andes Plane Crash.

This gripping episode unveils the chilling aftermath of a plane crash in the Andes, where the resilience of the human spirit is tested in the harshest conditions.

For over a week, two survivors bravely traversed the unforgiving mountains, desperately seeking help. What makes this tale even more extraordinary is that they lacked specialist equipment and proper mountain attire, making their quest for survival all the more remarkable.

As the clock strikes 10:00 Pm, viewers are in for a riveting exploration of human endurance, courage, and the sheer will to survive against all odds.

I have never had to change a bank book with a new passport that is not correct.  I have changed passports at least 6 times in the last ten years at Bangkok bank and others still have the old bank books. Unless your bankbook full.

    It's not incorrect.

    It wasn't for me anyway.

I guess it depends on your branch.

I got a new passport last year and took it into Bangkok Bank.

They issued me with a new bank book.

It still had the original dates from my old book.

I took both books to Immigration for my extension but they only wanted to see the new one.

  5. Attenborough and the Giant Sea Monster

    This was great.

150 million years ago dinosaurs ruled the land, but the oceans were dominated by a mysterious sea monster. Sir David Attenborough joins two of the UK’s most intrepid fossil hunters on their perilous expedition to excavate the skull from its resting place 12 metres up in the cliffs of Dorset.

That's a tough call, suppose you have to weigh it all up, but the rent free situation would provide you with around 30,000 a month there, as for here when portability kicks in, is another story, maybe 20,000 baht a month say, still better than a kick in the teeth.

The above said, if you received $300 a week, you would want to make sure you could live on that for the 2 years. I think you should be right, and if you could, all you lost was 2 years of being here, so unless you have family here, it would be a personal choice and whether say 20,000 baht a month, so to speak would improve your quality of life here for the remaining years you would have left to kick here, now that could be anything from 2 to 22 depending on genetics and lifestyle.

The $300 per week pension would be in top of my other income.

Like you said, just have to weigh up whether it's worth doing the 2 years

for an extra 28 000 Baht per month.

It's 6 years away so things can obviously change.

I was also seriously thinking about going back to Aus at 67 to start my 2 years, but was worried about my "performance level" with the Thai girls when returning at aged... 69 :crying:

So for me, it was go back 65 and hopefully still be fully functionable (without enhancers) when returning at age 67...which I am! Phew!! :partytime2:

Don't think I would qualify for the Dole, so it would have to be the OAP for me.

    You'll be fine mate.

    Nothing wrong with enhancers anyway:smile:

M8 of mine is 63 and been on the dole for years, he said all he does is goes online (not sure how often) and fills in a questionnaire and lodges it, and that's it, questions are like, have you sort employment etc etc.

I wouldn't dream of going on JobSeeker for 2 years, better off going back at 67 and getting the age pension, more in it and more subsidies from what I have read, biggest problem is finding affordable accommodation, because as I said above, it could take up to 4-5 years to recoup your outlay, just being there for those 2 years getting the aged pension, in other words, whatever you earn is down the drain on rent.

Living expenses are a normal day to day event anywhere, here the rents are super cheap, but in Oz, well you'll be going backwards unless you can rent a room, caravan etc etc, that is unless your math is better than mine (recouping) the outlay.

Yep, I agree, 67 and the OAP is the way to go.

I'm still summing up whether to go back.

On the positive, I will be able to live rent free.

On the negative, due to my current income, I will probably only get about 50% of the pension.

    So about $600 PF.
