  1. Was visiting Ducati Pattaya again today.

Had another sit on the Motard and Strada and I still likes the Strada best but okay I am an old guy at 51, lol.

Will do a test ride on Monday.

If I do a down payment on 250K baht and have the rest on finance it will be 24X13725 on the rest which is not too bad.

She told me that they might go up 20k baht next year for the whole range but was not 100% sure.

She also told me that the 796 is made in Thailand, shop was filled with 795's but no 796's, sat on the 795, no thanks.

A young Thai lady on a 795 arrived at the shop when I left, nice to see her dressed properly up with leather jacket, bike boots and gloves, she did look sexy but since my wife was there as well I didn't talk to her, he-he.

  2. I have a PCX 150 and really like it, it's stable and comfortable and don't use much fuel.

This bike don't require any maintenance at all between service, you just fill the tank and go and check the tire pressure once a month.

It's not so good out on the highways due to a top speed at about 90-110 km/h so you lack the extra power out there.

I use mine only for riding around Pattaya and I find it near perfect for that.

Only extra on mine is: YSS rear shock absorbers and a net for the seat everything else is original.

If you buy one I will recommend that you buy the 80% theft insurance and lock it up if leaving it downtown, many are stolen in the Pattaya area.

I carry a huge steel wire lock that goes around the front wheel when parking downtown.

  3. Nice one nikster. I am a little jealous cause I really like this bike but I am just too short. Which is why iam waiting for the monster 796 less power and less technology but fine for my purposes. Enjoy you new ride!

Sent from my HTC Desire X using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Well the 796 is not a bad bike either and at least you didn't buy the 795 and tearing your hair out in frustrating by now.

    Congt on the bike Nikster.

I will go try the Strada next week here in Pattaya and then take it from there.

  4. This is my first Darkside residency. I am loving it, compared to what I saw today. I had to swing down soi 8 and over to the police station on 9 (to start the process of getting my driver licences replaced due to loss). OMG, there was a parade of kids, booming mobile music trucks, baht buses, motorcycles and cars tangled up, barebacked Russian males and all manner of tourists in a heaving mass, bars with retirees shoulder-to-shoulder in their Chang wifebeaters. It was like I woke up on the other side of the world. Have a nice holiday everyone. I'll be staying over here.

Well I live in a village in north pattaya near BKK/Patt hospital and it is exactly the same here peace and quiet all year long.

If I want to avoid the downtown madness (which is not often) I can just do my shopping in nearby Naklua town which looks surprisingly like all other small town in Thailand.

10 min ride on my bike and I am on beach road without crossing the dreaded sukhumvit road.

  5. Imported Harleys will read in MPH. And yea though its expensive there are some. I posted a picture on the what is your ride thread. I have a 2012 Fatboy Custom. 36 bikes is not easy to keep at 140++ due to different issues. 100kph with 36 bikes, I quite often ride in the very back to keep people from riding like knobs. When I am alone its more fun when in a big pack its more work. But if you read my replies about the road conditions (more so in the South) you would see why groups are all over the road. riding tight together and hitting ruts and holes can throw a bike more side spacing can save a bike that goes down from taking out others. I know when the group of guys I ride we are together we let anyone pass no worries but one can only do as the road conditions allow. As I said on page 9 or 7 or 9. I am more than willing to discuss rider styles and rules of the road over beer. I am even offering to buy. But this little crotch rocket vs Harley convo is getting stale. People calling me a pratt from behind a keyboard are just trolls and internet warriors.

What do you mean by imported, they are all imported??

My ex grey imported Road King was reading km/h, It was a ex Japan bike and the shop in Pattaya took care of all the paper work regarding registration.

When I rode with HOG we were normally doing about 110-120 km/h when going on trips. Yes as you said in a big group the tailing bikes sometimes have to ride hard to keep up.

Very strict rules when riding in a big group, the road captain (first bike) set the pace and knows where we are going (hopefully, he-he) and we follow him and then last you have the sweeper.

On my first trip with HOG I got lost but thankfully the sweeper found me (Waaay up North East on a 4 day trip) and he guided my wife and I to the hotel for the evening.

We were always letting other bikes pass if they were going faster than us, off-course. Sometimes the local village boys were overtaking us on their modified small bikes and we always let them and keep our steady speed, no racing allowed. Some of them got a nasty surprise when we kept the speed up steep mountain climes, lol.

Up in the Loi mountain range the road captain advised us that normal rules don't apply any longer and we were free to go as we wanted but he gave us a friendly advise not to overdo it, he-he. So we were going for it, the Dyna's the fastest then followed by the touring models and last were the Softtail's, great fun even on a Harley, a HD is fun up the mountains due to the strong torque, they just go like a locomotive man.

No pick-up truck to pick up broken down bikes, it's not necessary any longer on modern HD's, only concern is the belt drive, you never know when they brake so I always carried a spare (never needed).

Ah I miss my trips with HOG I really do but I got a 4 year old son now, so when we go touring it is in the pick-up truck.

  6. Would never work here. When I bought my Enfield in India many years ago I was asked if I wanted a mechanicass an optional extra. Here decent mechanics are too hard to find.

Well the newer models have FI and the whole 9 yards despite the retro look.

Yes they do look cool for sure but never saw them in real life.

  7. sure these bikes are created to compete with kawasaki er6n and f.

But sure, these inline four bikes will be more expensive that 2 cyclinder kawa.

    i expect a price between 300 k to 350 k for cb650f and cbr650f.

But i hope cbr650f will not be more than 330 k.

    I expect it to be 399999 bahtwink.png

Sorry joking aside I will think about the 350-375 bracket but are off-course only guessing, but it's gonna cost with a 4 pot engine.

Strangely enough Kawa makes the 300 ninja and Honda will soon upgrade the cbr 250 to 300 as well but here clearly the Ninja is the "rich man's bike".

Anyways if I buy anything above 500cc it will something that start with D but are still thinking about it and it wont be in 2013.

  8. Ford pattaya will not repair your car.

We had a minor damage on our Ranger app 3 month ago (wife hit a H. Accord in the arse, lol) and you will have to find a repair shop yourself that will repair with the repair notice from the insurance man.

Most in Pattaya have about 2-3 weeks waiting list as collisions happens all the time here because they never learned to drive a car in the first place but will learn by doing.

  9. What, an expensive hotel like Amari tell you this bullshit, call the police and your insurance NOW.

That said, there will very likely be a sign on the parking lot saying: Parking on own risk!

Also tell Amari that you are very unhappy that the staff of the hotel slams into your car and you will expect a free dinner for the whole family for your inconvenience.

If that doesn't help tell them you gonna write to Amari head quarters with photos of your damaged car attached.

    Good luck.

  10. I went to Ducati Pattaya on 3rd road this morning.

2 new hypermotard outside the shop and I was told they got them yesterday.

1 new hyperstada outside the shop without the side bags on red plates for test riding.

Both models looks very nice and I had a test sit on both. Despite me being app 186cm and long legs I fell much better on the strada and I like the back support the lowered seat gives too. Better mud guards too.

Both models fells smallish, especially the motard fells like an overgrown moto cross bike, he-he.

I asked for a test ride and was told I can come anytime I want and have a 15min ride but shorts not allowed, lol.

I will most likely go and have a test ride later this week despite my wife don't like that I might start riding big bikes again.

The staff was very polite and helpful and gave us water bottles marked ducati on them.

1000 km service is app 3500 baht and 30.000 km service (change cam belt) 15.000 baht.

I am not sure if I want to spend 550k on a strada, it will only be a toy for me and not many nice bike roads around Pattaya like up in the ChangMai area.

They told us 10 of the 820 are on order and about equal distributed between the 2 models and 1/2 Thai & 1/2 expats.

I forgot to add: The nice sales lady told me it's best to run benzine 95 and only gasohol 95 if the first can't be had, <deleted>?

  11. The fact is that thousands of older men from the West lives here.

The fact is, the older you are getting the changes of dying increases much more as well.

Therefore the newspapers will have almost daily stories about an older expat had died, nothing new about that but it's a news paper and they do stories like that.

We all have to go sooner or later and the older British chap here seems to had a fairly good life before he went.

    RIP

  12. Sorry a bit off topic.

Me coming from Scandinavia the prospects of moving back are not nice.

1: Climate is <deleted>, nice weather tops 4 month per year. The older I am getting the more I prefer hot (tropical) weather.

2: Income taxes starts at about 35% (Denmark).

4: If you stick to Thai made cars/bike they are waaaay cheaper than back home. Eksample: The new Ducati 821Hypermotard cost over 100% more in DK compared to here (I checked already)

5: A house/condo in a nice place are also much more in Denmark than here.

And I could go on and on.

You guys from the US have the advantage of the size of the country, you can have anything from Alaska to Florida and vehicles are cheap as chips.

A perfect world for me would be 2 places to live: keep the house in Thailand and have a house/condo in Spain-France-Italy as a second home but the world is not perfect and I have a 4 year old kid so I can't move around as we pleases and it would also be quite expensive to do.

  13. Just came back from north Pattaya Beach Road. Glad we took the bike and not the truck despite having a kid with us.

Parked the bike outside a hotel (20 baht) as all spots were full on beach road.

Many many people on the beach, good atmosphere (most were sober like us), my 4 year old son had a ball, lol.

We did send a hot air balloon up and a kratong in the water, 100 & 50 baht a pop. My son liked the hot air balloon most and thankfully there was a very slight wind going off-shore so Koo Larn will be under heavy bombardment tonightbiggrin.png

Good night out with my family here in Pattaya. smile.png

  14. @ll2 jealous!! Let me know how it was!

@liddelljohn compared to what we had in Thailand just 5 years ago, selection is just fantastic. I think the motard is gorgeous, the strada too if you take off those ugly bags.

@woli1 yeah mine will be delivered on the 18th as well but they somehow figured it wouldn't be ready for pick up the same day. I don't really know why. Do they really have to "charge the battery"? Sounds odd...

    Hi Nikster,

I guess they have to assemble some mall parts like mirrors, connect batterie, and do some checks.

i was Nr5 on the Hypermotard as I ordered in Pattaya, I think they get minimum 10bikes Tomorrow,

I arrive in Pattaya on Saturday, does anybody know if the Immigration in Jomtien is open on Saturday?

Not it's closed, sorry. On Monday they will be open, hope you can wait that longbiggrin.png
