  1. Okay you are not keen to buy say the 1.3 mill Accord, if you lease one for 30k baht per month for 24 month you pay an eye watering 720.000 baht in lease (rent) which is completely madness in Thailand.

You can maybe sell the Accord for about 1 mill after 2 years use if you own it.

It's a no brainer, don't worry about accidents & floods, the insurance will pay for that. Red shirts, well I don't loose any sleep over them too.

Don't worry so much, buy the car, rent a house insteadthumbsup.gif

  2. I just now returned from JIB computer shop where they had a flyer with the current promotions. Notable is the 27" Dell S2740L for 10,590 baht, down from 13,390. 27" screen, 1920x108- 6- Hz, 16:9 aspect ratio. I have had this same model now for almost a year and it has given excellent performance, typical for Dell monitors. Note this is full HD and the screen real estate allows for comfortable multi-window workspace or one could enlarge the font size to accomodate weaker vision. Much recommended from my personal experience.

I agree, my Dell 2713HM are really good, watching a 6-10GB HD movie is just awesome and I play games sometimes which off-course is excellent too.

I still uses my old 22" Samsung monitor and it's good for low quality stuff.

    Dell rocksthumbsup.gif

  3. Carburetors are tricky to set up correctly so I hope you know what you are doing in that regard or know somebody in the knowing.

I agree with Richard, 1mm should not make much difference and you should be able to compensate for that with bigger jets.

I had a Mikuni on my ex Harley, 42mm I think, and when the Australian mechanic finally had it set up correctly it ran very good without burning too much fuel but it took a couple of days with me going testing and coming back and give him feed back.

    Good luck with it.

    I can't say I miss carbs.

  4. Yep, just having fun. I like the Ranger a lot and had one too, a 3.2. Spoonman kindly found somebody that wanted it and I am back with a Vigo which is about the 5th one now.

In reality, they're all very good. If you took the best features from all of them and put them into one truck, you'd have a cracker, although it would then be too expensive for the market.

I believe you sold yours due to fuel consumption?

Yes I agree they all got their pros and cons.

As long as you are happy with your truck that is all that matters.

It's funny here in the village we got a Toyota Farang clan (Transam's buddies, ha-ha) and they asked me when I bought a City (used) why didn't you buy a Viros? I told them that a city is way better than a viros in all regards, it drives better, the engine is better and so on. Since then I was never invited to BBQ's at their houses anymore. Well that's fine with me they are a bunch of wxxxxxx anyway and now I don't have to come up with bad excuses why I can't attend.

If the new Hilux is very good I will maybe buy one in 4-5 years time when it's time to part with the Ranger but until then I will enjoy it (now hold on a minute, if the wxxxxxx starts to invite me to BBQ's again I better not buy a Hilux, hmm, OK got it, I can just put a T-Max sticker on the back and they wouldn't know the difference and leave me alone, so I am good to go, LOL).

  5. My trusted Casio Protrek wrist watch is dying, the screen has started turning black in the middle but I had it for over 7 years I think and I bought it in Bangkok for 5000 baht if memory serves me well

I am considering buying a Casio Protrek from Australia via Ebay as they cost between 12-15.000 baht here and price in Australia is app. 6300 baht for the model I am looking at.

I know the import duty for motorbike parts is 30% which I been paying at the post office when picking up the parts (from USA).

How much tax can I expect to pay from a watch from Australia?

I can alternatively buy one from Singapore, will the tax be the same?

    Thanks

  6. For various reasons I'm not ready to buy the PCX just now. How much larger is the space in a PCX than an Airblade or a Nuovo?

I never ridden the Airblade or Nuovo so can't say.

The space is big, we can just put 2 pilot helmets in the deep part of the space and then you have the narrow space behind that for a rain coat and a lock.

Go and look at somebody's pcx somewhere - shop- friend or whatever.

The fuel tank is not under the seat like on most local bikes but in the frame forward.

  7. Would look at the lenovo s920 at 9690 baht - http://www.tohome.com/product_detail.aspx?product_id=20130700097&Product_name=Lenovo%20Seine%20S920%20(2%20SIM)

quad core processor instead of dual for more grunt, bigger battery, and slimmer. Has dual sim and 720p screen too.

Lenovo respected computer brand and has android 4.2 instead of 4.1.1, but no idea which one updates quicker

Very good specs indeed and as you said respected pc brand.

If I was on the market I would defiantly check this baby out.

I will never be brand loyal on anything, cars-TV's- phones and whatever but always go for the best deal I think I can get.

  8. OP good to hear you are almost OK.

Next time have a can of pepper spray ready and give them a good dose.

I also have a road I ride through almost everyday and one mean dog sometimes attack but not often so you don't know when it happens but I know the bastard by sight and are ready to give full throttle.

  9. Rear fender.

I was you I would go and buy that PCX and then consider the top box later on.

On my pcx I was also considering a top box but due to the huge space under the seat not necessary so I never bought one.

  10. For an average person with usual needs like Web surfing, a 21" monitor will be sufficient.

Why not TV: in a TV, each pixel is larger, so you will inevitably have to sit farther. For 40", it will be 5-6 feet (2 m).

So you will need longer cables.

Plus, you won't be able to use both internal screen and a TV (due to a different required distance).

Just go for a 20" or 21" monitor, it will be as cheap as 2,000 THB. Don't forget to check the interface: your computer may have HDMI (best), DVI, or a plain VGA (worst) outlet.

OP said that he have problems seeing clearly on his 20" monitor so he will need a 24 to 27" minimum or have a 36" TV 2 meters away.

  11. Agreed regarding spending gobs of money for electronics. Esp in this hot climate. The heat is an MTBF killer!

Thanks for the heads up on IQ4. The price is right, and the dual sim card slot would be nice!

How is the screen, ph connection, voice quality ect?

I'm assuming nominal to above since you were impressed by it, esp given the price.

The screen is a 5" 720x1280 pixels which is quite good for the price. phone connection and voice as good as any I tried.

Mini sd card up to 32gb, rom 4 gb and 1gb ram which is good enough for me.

It runs 4.1 (jelly bean) but updates have to be done at a I-mobile shop (so far none).

Battery last a long time in st.by mode and okay during heavy use.

It's a steal for the money and as I said very happy with it and I wont cry if it brakes down after 1-2 years.

Please note that I-mobile makes new models all the time so it's a bit confusing and some of them also uses a strange network band where you can't use then in certain countries and even service providers here in Thailand. The IQ4 is okay but not the IQ6 where you have to choose between a IQ6 or a IQ6A model depending of which network you want.

  12. Yes some members here uses a TV as PC monitor, in the 40-50" range depends how far away you sit from it I guess.

I uses a dedicated pc monitor a Dell 2713HM 2560x1440 which is very nice but expensive at + 18.000 bath.

In your case it would maybe be best to buy a 40" TV and you can get them cheaper than 18.000 too.

I don't know what to look for when shopping for a TV pc monitor but others will know.

  13. They should put Warning Labels on all Trucks. Unless Fully Ladened this Vehicle Handles Like a Pram in the Wet. Thats what we Built it For,not for Shopping.thumbsup.gif

Pop Star, you never give up do youbiggrin.png .

Some of us have owned sedan cars here but find a truck more convenient for Thailand, yes I know you find that hard to believe.

I have noticed since owning my truck that other vehicles gives me much more room compared to my former tin can Honda City.

A bit off topic but I think you will like it:

Try watching Top Gear S20 E5, absolute hilarious, Clarkson and James May have to choose a SUV (many of models for sale in Thailand) and then go caravanningcheesy.gifclap2.gif

Hmm I think I gonna watch that again tonight, boy that was funny, they don't like SUV's very much to put it mildly.
