Human rights activists and relatives of those killed in the 1992 Black May crackdown are calling for an investigation into the reported discovery of human skeletons in the Gulf of Thailand.

The activists and relatives, speaking after marking the 17th anniversary of the massacre yesterday, said they would write to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to ask the government to look into the matter.

It was the government's duty to solve this mystery, even if the skeletons do not belong to the missing Black May victims, said Metha Matkhao, secretary general of the Campaign Committee for Human Rights.

News reports say three to five cargo containers stuffed with human skeletons have been found in the sea off tambon Samasarn in Chon Buri's Sattahip district.

Mr Metha said local trawlers had pulled up human skulls. "Seventeen years on, no significant progress has been made in searching for the people reported missing in the attack," said Mr Metha.

"The person who ordered the mass killing has not been punished, nor have the others involved ... who still are living a happy life, playing golf, sipping wine and making comments to the media." The official number of Black May dead was 38, but the figure reported to the United Nations by a committee representing victims was 357, said Adul Khiewboriboon, who heads the committee.

The committee called on the army to stop intervening in politics, saying it had taken a bigger role in politics since the 2006 coup.

  4. We use a guy on Theppresit road. He comes and cleans and gases for 500 baht. we have used him for 4 years and always been perfect. he has installed A/C in other propertys for us as well always the cheapest.

If you head south on theppresit from tesco lotus, passing the the old KR kart track and then the 7-11 on the corner of the road that leads down to the lion bar, (dont turn down that road, stay on theppresit) he's shop is about 400m past the 7-11 on the right hand side. about 4 units before the end of the row of shops.

Tall lean thai guy. speaks good english.

    Highly recommended

  5. Although we are not a newspaper, I can assure you that Pattaya One News will continue to report as normal. This idea about reporting restrictions issues by the Mayor is utter nonsense and has never and will never happen.

    Howard,

I wonder really wether you would really admit to this.

I remember asking you to follow up a story of a German developer who had cheated me out of 1.6 million baht also my friends as well. In total over 5 million baht and you refused on the grounds you didnt want to get a bullet in your head.

Fair point as that guy has had soemthing to do with a major development in jomtien that has managed to shut every forum that mentions it. but bearing this in mind i really dont think in my opinion you would dare breach the mayors rules if he has issued them.

You wouldnt want to become another statistic as you have told me before. And that would definatly follow with the Mayor and any order he issued.

Pattaya is in major turmoil. There is very little law enforcemenmt unless it comes to telling girls at 2pm in the afternoon to get back in there bars in soi6 or some other "lets Gloss Over The facts" direct action to grab the headlines.

Back to you Howard. Would you care to answer the guy? Restaurant reviews might pay the bills and provide a few free meals, but ain't really news, is it?

Well the silence answers the question. Its deafening hey!!!

And just look at who pays the advertising for some of the local papers that claim to speak out where others dont.

Unless the developer has spent a fortune on advertising whole pages. you might be tempted to give him a free small spot on the front of your paper just to try to keep the development name up to detract from the people who question wether you will be building the project.

  7. Have you read the thread "Ocean 1 Tower project in Jontiem Failed?" That would be only one of many.

Depends on how much risk you are taking for the projected reward. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

People are only assuming that Ocean 1 has failed, there is actually no evidence at present to suggest that!

The are just waiting for a lucky time to start building again. Their have been ghosts seen on the site that is why building has stopped for while.

:o hahaha the partys are over m8.... wake up and smell the coffee..... there is so much <deleted> spouted here. threats to the board owners etc etc ......... Jomtien and the F'kin crooks want washing out to the sea.

You would have to be on YaBa to deal with the german conmen.

But Hey!!!!!!!!!! a lot of you are :D:D:D:D:(

What a pile of <deleted> has evolved there.....

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!! go to the site... no work.... all the big signs are gone. Bp has made sure its not spoken about here. Members ........ well they are not here anymore.

I know staff who are no longer on the project and have been told to say it will be finishd in 5 years to relieve the pressure but they have been told its failed.

Just go and asked for yourselves

  9. Thanks for opening the topic. I have been moving through the mail in my Inbox, and reached this near the end. My plan was to open my own thread on this subject, and title it: "The I's Have It".

Those "I's" would INCOMPETENT, INEPT, AND IGNORANT!! They would be applied to the Pattaya police department, and the city government responsible for them!

It took me nearly TWO HOURS to drive from Lotus (Sukhumvit), to my home near Wat Suttawat, at the east end of Nern Plub Warn. Most of that time was spent in total gridlock on the western "Relief road" paralelling the railroad tracks. The reason for the gridlock was total chaos at each of the intersections at Khao Talo, Khao Noi, and Nern Plub Warn. All that would have been required to at least keep the traffic moving, albeit slowly, was ONE COP at each of those intersections!!

There is absolutely no excuse for such a total lack of municipal responsibility in a city this size! There are reasons; but no excuses. The reasons, of course, are the three "I's"!!!

    Just remember

Pattaya police dont work in these instances

    1. Its between 12 and 1pm (food time)

    2. Its dark (scared of ghosts)

    3. Its raining

So take your pick, and i bet you will find an answer for lack of police.

And let's turn back the clock a bit, shall we? Let's go back to many months ago, when I posted the obvious fact that the "Relief Road" should never have been opened until traffic lights were both in place (which they are, at some intersections), AND OPERATIONAL (which they have never been at these constantly clogged and dangerous intersections)!! Any idiot could have foreseen the need for traffic control at these intersections.

For that matter, any idiot could have planned to set up these roads, east and west of the rr tracks, with alternating overpasses - traffic light controlled intersections on one side; and an overpass on the other. I have never worked in the field of traffic management, but I swear on my mother's grave that I could manage traffic in this city better than these goons do it!!

These intersections are GRIDLOCK WAITING TO HAPPEN at the slighest increase in normal traffic flow. Again, A FREAKING MONKEY COULD SEE THAT COMING!!

This afternoon, the deluge kept the majority of people off the road for quite some time. Understandably, it did create some physical obstacles, with flooding in low areas of all roads. It was also obvious that, with "rush hour" in full swing just as the storm began to subside, and most Thais rushing out to do whatever personal business they had to do for the day, the streets would be filled with thousands of vehicles, all running into those physical obstacles. The likelihood of major problems at all intersections that are not controlled by traffic signals was as obvious as the availability of Play for Pay on Soi 6!!

But were the Pattaya Police prepared? Did they react with appropriate action to control the obvious congestion points? Yeah. About as well as they enforce the helmet law, the general traffic laws, and the requirement for all drivers to be licensed!!

This city's police department is a disgrace! The mayor should fire every single police official in the city, and replace them with farangs who know how to do the job!! I volunteer my services to be Police Commissioner; or, at the very least, Traffic Control Chief!!

And, in case you were about to ask, YES, I AM PISSED OFF!!

  10. The racing team associated with a well known local condo development (name witheld to prevent the owner of TV getting into trouble) has recently taken delivery of a shipment of auto parts from my company.

They are refusing to settle an outstanding bill of over 300,000 baht. Apart from the obvious tactics (not stated in order to keep the TV forums family orientated), can anyone advise any legal channels for us to follow?

Should we go to the police first to report it, or do I just go straight to my lawyer?

I am led to believe that the guy responsible for not paying might possibly already have a poor reputation in Pattaya.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Matter

Have you had any luck getting your money????

Some of the previous Members got banned so i am asking on their behalf. :o

    Was the lawyer any good??

Rumour has it BP screwed Gunter Klose for 6 million and he doesnt work for him anymore. he kept the cars.

Let us know how you got on.
