  1. No need for the sarcastic post - removed.

I would try the place on Chaofa East opposite the big PTT gas station (Phuket Town), right side of the furniture shop. They make up awnings, so they will have the sewing machines for your job. Best I can suggest.

Second that: TMT upholstery. They did very nice work on a yacht for me and I found the price reasonable. 0818934218

  2. Interesting post, If i was still living in Phuket i would be all for joining a group of like minded expats. With experience as a volunteer ambulance officer, knowledge how to operate many types of rescue equipment from jaws of life to excavators my assistance would put to good use.... getting us coordinated and operational in emergency situations is the key to preventing undue loss of life. I suggest starting a club. A recent post in issues and answer in the PG:

“Anyone can start a social club and it does not need to be registered, as long as you do not disturb other people. If you can take care of each other within the club there will not be a problem.

Since you do not have to register the club it does not matter if club members have work permits or not. You will be allowed to sell club products and charge membership fees, but only as long as you take care of each other and do not disturb anyone else.

If you are a foreigner and you want to register an official social club, then you must be qualified. The exact qualifications are dependent on the size and activities of your proposed club. Of course, once you have registered you must detail your club’s income to the Revenue Department to see if it is necessary to pay taxes.

You are welcome to come into the Phuket District Office and talk with us in person to explain the purpose of your club and get the details of the qualifications needed for your case. For more information, please come and see us at 267, Mae Luan road, Muang Phuket 83000. We are open from Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.”

Suksan Siangeak, Muang Phuket district Administrative Officer (Palad).

  3. most houses here have no grounding with the except for water heaters, almost all have no SAFE-T-CUT, its no wonder there are so many deaths every year.

~Electric Shock occurs when the current flows into the ground by passing through the human body or animal. This phenomenal may harm the life when children or your beloved person contact any appliance which has a leakage current or touch the Line wire directly.. SAFE-T-CUT is able to disconnect the circuit within 0.04 second. Therefore, it will be safe for people even the children who have less resistance.

  4. encouraging comments, thank you

~^`.`^~ WPFflags.gif a shady place for shady people........pls excuse; not entirely.

but the fact of the matter is these cameras watching 24/7 are put in place to deter acts of crime.

Unfortunately the public is not so aware of the capabilities of cctv.

Go check it out for your self.

I expect in the near future all local cctv cameras to be on par with the few already installed in a few locations.

  5. I helped a friend rebuild her shop yesterday after a Black Isuzu pickup crashed into her shop late at night. I suggested she go and check the CCTV footage. Interestingly we tracked the truck from Chalong circle through 5 cctv's all the way to Soi Kokmakam. Images after the accident show the missing mirror.

The Isuzu is caught moving at high speed on the cctv in front of 7/11 Rawai passing a car and very close hitting a drunk pedestrian seen staggering up the street in the video, its quite entertaining.

Cameras are watching us 24/7 almost every vew hundred meters in developed areas. Maybe if driver were more aware that they are being watched it may deter some drivers from being idiots.

There are cameras in certain locations are able to zoom and rotate.

I spent and enjoyable hour in the CCTV control room at the orbortor.

So, if any of the readers/members drive a 4 dr black isuzu missing mirror and for certain a fair amount of front end and left side damage, save the trouble of the police coming to you. Go see the owner of the shop and square up for the damage. End of story.

  6. Am heading out to bluewater from Phuket this weekend, probably out of AoPo Grand marina in my 27 foot twin engine power cat. I will be looking for the FADS offshore from the airport and see if I can pick up some dolphin, sailfish, and possibly some Tuna. Will be tuning in my Garmin GPS, as well as trying out a new downrigger in case the fish are deep.

Am working on getting a Thai captain and crew trained up so I can charter the boat out for small fishing charters. Still some work to do to get a good book of coordinates together.

Would like to get an experienced crew member who knows how to tie a knot and not catch me or himself with a treble hook.

if interested, and can affor some gas cash, drop me a reply. Will be in Phuket on Saturday afternoon and be set to go out for Sunday-Tuesday.

    Steve

send me a message i'm interested

  7. There are quite a few good spots on the island. Many capes or shoreline with deep water close in will give you a chance at large pelagic if you live bait and chum your chances will increase. After running a chum line all day I had the pleasure of hooking a sailfish using a large garfish on a circle hook off the cape north west of Nai Harn / Ao Sane, its about a 1km goat scramble to get in but well worth it. I have seen Thais with large hand lines cast weighted hook with a large bait pull in a 3kg grouper an hour after sunset.

The cape at Leam Prothep is good though the current gets ripping on shifting tide, its a good spot to cast a popper.

Rawai pier get a bucket of chum and get a trail going.

beach for whiting and dart etc, the whiting are small but very tasty nonetheless.

The Cholay village in rawai has an old lady selling ten or twenty beach worms for 20b or so. I used to see her collecting them along rawai beach buy a few and go catch a feed of sand whiting at nai harn.

Jigging the shoals for squid can be a laugh and productive.

There are fish to be caught, though in no way can you compare it to places such as Oz.

spearfishing with air boils down to ethics, in most developing countries, locally Thais/cholay use hookah and bottle for hunting/gathering.

personally as long as you shoot outside protected waters only what you need then its somewhat fair game either way.
