  1. I had an old bike that did that.. just before the camchain gave out. Have you checked or serviced your cam chain tensioning bits or maybe installed them incorrectly?

Nope, not serviced that. I have had a pain getting the people in the honda shops to actually do some work.. they all seem to be clueless or just blame it on something else or just lazy.

I guess this would cause the problems i mentioned?

But I will look into that, thanks.

  2. Hey ppl,

I have encountered a problem with my CBR in the last week or actually two.

    1. The bike have started to vibrate ALOT at ~7.5k rpm and up.. i cant drive it without getting the needle feeling in my hands right now. I recently had the piston, crank and valves changed ( dunno if it has to do with that ). Like i said, it vibrates in the handlebars and making a aweful vibrating sound from the front when i sit on the motorbike at the rpm's i mentioned.

    2. When i engine brake and let the clutch go out slowly it makes this sound like the chain aint biting the teeth on the sprockets ( it cant be that though, have new sprockets installed 1 week ago ), and i can feel a shaking at my left rearset.. and the bike isnt engine braking at this point. When i let the clutch go out all the way it disepears and its engine braking again.

I have been to a few Honda shops, and a local mech ( suppose to be a good one according to the locals ).. they all are clueless and say the bike is old and thats why it vibrates, the clutch/gear problem they all start to play with the clutch wire ( not helping ). The thing is, the bike didnt vibrate at this rate before i had the engine parts replaced ( genuine honda parts ). The honda shop said it was the tank that vibrates and making the noise and that i needed a new rubber thingy that hold the tank to the frame.. got me a new one, didnt help for a second.. then they said .. mai roo.

*edit* I bought alot of new parts for the engine since its an old cbr ( 2549 ), so i replaced alot of things inside.. like i mention piston set, crank, valve sleeve, sprockets, chain, brakes, throttle wire etc. etc. I spent about 16.000 bht on new stuff to improve my bike, but all its done really is making it worse :)

So im hoping someone here could help me out with this.

    Thanks

    Andreas

  3. Hello,

I just wanted to add something i noticed alot here with the so called "mech's". Alot of them will intentionally break you bike ( tighten chain to much, break a fairing etc..) and this is for a good reason! And that reason is, they are hoping to get more work ( MONEY) because you will come back to them and try to get it fixed. This happened to me recently, the mech ( i found out later this is not the first time he does it.. and he sells jabba lol to finiance his business ) tightened my chain way to much when i went there to get it lubed and tightened, i didnt see this since i went to buy something to drink.. but anyway 1 day later i feel that the back tire wobbles(sp?) abit so i stop to check it out, and i see that the sprocket teeth are broken and the sprocket is bent.

so I go back to tell him he f-d my sprocket up, and the usual no problem.. and he got a sprocket ( 45t ) which he wants to put on and he also found that my rubber thingys behind the sprocket is bad and want to change them too.. so i left the bike there and went to buy a 44t rear sprocket and went back but this time i stayed to keep an eye.. and yeeesss.. he wants to put the rubber thingys for a wave and this will ensure that i have to come back sooner or later..

Ok i took the bike and everything and rolled it to a shop across the street and they fixed it no problems what so ever..

  4. Hello all, ive read most of this thread and got some good info :) i have owned my cbr 150 for 2 years now and i love it. done 40.000 km on it and no problems at all. lately i have put an endurance exhaust, and a k+n airfilter on it. i tried to rejet the carb but damaged the screw heads so guess il just leave it the way it is ..

best wishes to all and safe riding :D

Like Sinewave said, i went 2 sizes up and it works fine. had to change the screw for air/fuel intake some but not that much. I tried both with the cone and airbox filter, the cone filter increased the sound alot and i lost some power in the high rpms but that is prolly coz i didnt have a long enough pipe to the filter ( like sinewave mentioned ), but the lowend power went up more, but not worth it for me since im driving on highways alot. I now use the airbox filter which i like more, less sound, and better pull in the high rpms... i tried to make more holes in the airbox aswell but i lost power in the 6th gear so i change back.

this is with a aftermarket pipe and k&n airfilter ( in the airbox ).

  5. Also, the NSR150 made more power. Some of the parts are interchangeable, but not engines. I saw and considered buying an old NSR150 that was refitted with a CBR150 fairing.

Do you think it's possible to fit an NSR fairing to a CBR?

The skinniness of the cbr fairing is it's one weak point IMO. But can't find any bodykits anywhere on the web. :)

Looks at this link and you will a new fairing kit, dont know about the price though ( i asked but they said its new so they dont have a price on it yet, and i had to ask again in a few weeks ). Looks pretty awesome if you ask me.

  6. I've been doing a couple of runs to phuket from trang and back the same day, no problem and not exhausted after.. really nice scenery and the roads are nice ( not as nice as north thai ). Not sure about the exact distance but it takes a couple of hours. I think its really up to the personal choice of the bike ( have to add i have never driven a Boxer 250 rs.. but i tried the riding position on the bkk motorshow ) Im still young and dont have any back pains etc.. cruising at 120-130kph in 6th its painless imho.

Need to try the Boxer someday.. but havent seen any here in the neighbourhood..

  7. I am considering a 120/80 for my rear wheel.

Has anybody had this dimension tire on their stock rims.

It seems that it should fit, but I am concerned about it keeping a good seal

A 120 tire will fit on the stock rim, i read a thai magazine where a guy asked what the biggest size for the back rim were.. and he got the reply that 120 is the biggest.

  8. CDI doesnt change the powerband in the engine.. just the limit. what sparkplug did you use when you detected that it lost power? It could be that you need the sparkplug to be hotter?

I use a aftermarket pipe with the stock can ( modded to flow more air but keep the dB down abit ) which works great. I just saw on faddybike that they have a converter for the stock can and a aftermarket pipe which looks nice, dont know about the price though but my guess is a few thou bht. Im very tempted to buy the new fairing set they have there and the swing arm ( pro-arm ) :)

If you getting a unlimited CDI i would recommend to change some parts in the engine too like piston, connection rod etc.. as the stock piston will blow for sure if you rev it to much ( its hard not to since it has "alot" of power 12k+ rpm :D ). I wonder if there is a CDI with a limit at 14.5k.. would be nice.

I use 14/44 sprockets on my bike, which is the best combo i have tried so far... but im a light rider so it doesnt loose to much power in 6th.. 15/44 is also nice, gave some more power in 6th but not worth the lost accleration for me.

  9. The pipe i would say, a bigger pipe and rejetting the carb would give you the most for the money if you go by the choices you mentioned.

CDI is nice but if you forget to change gear after 14k or so ( running with stock piston etc.. ) you will blow your engine which is costly ~10k bht :)

Carb you would need the pipe or even a bore up to get alot of change.. if you remove the airbox it will certainly get the polices attention also ( sound will increase alot! )... + it would loose power in 6th gear in the high rpms, at least thats what i noticed.

  10. if sending by post, wrap the bike in some protection...towels, bubble plastic.. anything that would protect your bike from taking damage if dropped or scraped..

Sent my bike with post 3 times.. 1 times the side fairing was all scraped up and the post officer told me it was like this before it got sent... yeah right.

with train you got to do the same thing since it will probably be standing next to boxes or other bikes and it will touch other objects for sure ( careful of your paint ).

As said before i would not send a big bike with the train due to most station dont have a ramp so they have to lift it off the car which aint easy if you are 3 people ( thai ) and under a time table..

post is your best option i guess if you dont want to drive it to the destination.

  11. Ok a small update on my cbr. Had aftermarket pipe when i bought.

-Removed resistor in sparkplug cable boot, replaced it with the end of a silver colored drill ( as i write im waiting for a mold i made to dry for replacing the end of the drill with copper. )

    - modified/repaired muffler, had a crack in the wall inside, and had some fiber put in ( still flows good though and sounds alot better, caused alot of vibration before. )

-removed airbox, replace it with cone formed k&n airfilter ( sounds alot but its not an issue where i live, BiB smiles when they see me ).

-cleaned carb, replaced broken vacuum silicon seal

    -changed front sprocket to 14T

    -put blue halogen bulbs in

Next up is racing cams, jets, 14.500rpm limit CDI, and light weight pistons.

I noticed alot of difference in the low rpms after the changes i made ( before changing front sprocket ) and big difference in high rpms ( 140-150kph in 5th before hittin rev limit ), 6th takes me up to 160-165kph but the 6th is soo long :)

After the change of front sprocket to 14 it accelerates alot faster up to 6th.. but then its slower then before but still manage 150kph..this is on the speedo.. so not actual speed.

my mech got a pro arm for sale that i might buy ( arm and rim ).. but thats a future project. When this is done i might sell or buy a bigger bike. I got another mech that claiming he can make it go 180kph by changing CDI, piston and carb.. but if i want to go fast like that.. i will be better off buying a 400cc vfr/cbr or bigger..but would be fun to try.

The rattling issue i had before is gone now, went to a honda shop and changed a part that sits to the left over the front sprocket on the engine ( forget the name of the piece doh ) but it was broken and mech told me it was a copy.

    More updates coming.

  12. Hello,

I have found a good welder for pipes and repacking/mod the can, its a small hole in the wall at huay kwang intersection in bangkok.

I went there to make a pipe and repack and modify my muffler, the pipe turned out nice ( stainless steal ) and the muffler sounds awesome ( but not to loud for the police get angry ) now and no restriction in it.

If you leave near sukhumvit/huay kwang and need something done, PM me and ill send info about where abouts. I dont know his skill for making to complicated welden but he seems pretty solid on what he do and its cheap.

  13. I changed the clutch cable a 3 months ago so i hope thats not the issue. I will take a peek at the throttle cable ( or ill go to a honda shop and get it changed ). I have been thinking of change the piston heads/rings and camshaft.. that might be a thing i will do same time the throttle cable being changed..

    ok so far i have

    1. carb job ( cleaning and changed the silicon vacuum seal )

    2. checked the engine mount ( took of the fairing, rev'd and driven for a while.. same problemo ) might be this, will further investigate this.

    3. Oil the chain, engine

    4. Peg rattle ( in upward pos they re tight )

    running out of options... hehe

Its not that i cant drive the bike or something like that but i rather get it fixed now when its just a rattle then have something break when im cruising at 90km/h+ ...that would hurt.

  14. T-Dog you mean the passanger pegs right? :o I usually keep em up since my wife isnt very keen on sitting at on the bike ( pregnant ). Yeah they are pretty worn so i might try to tighten them up and see if it changes. I will take a look at the tank cover aswell. thanks for the heads up.

  15. I am looking to buy an air filter like a K&N for my Honda Wave 125

Does anyone have any ideas where I could come across one or its equivalent.

there is a bike shop at RCA that sells imported K&N filter, last time i was there they had it for the sonic 125 so they might have it for the wave too..

The shop is called: Big Cat and it looks like a show room.. just walk down the RCA and you'll see

    GLHF :o
