  2. Hi,

To cut the story short, my wife came home the other night absolutly mow from a xmas work party.

We had abit of an argument that night and she went crazy in our home, throwing things every where.

Someone must have called the police and she was taken away after hitting me with a pok pok stick.

My wife spent a few hours in the cell to sober up and was cautioned, and I was just wondering if this could cause a stumbling block in her application for ILR or FLR?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Please note she was not charged

    Scotty

    Whats a pok pok stick

Tell her she is not in Thailand anymore, and to put her head in or you will wack it off with a pok pok stick and send her back to Isan.

  3. Bangkok airport to remain closed

    From correspondents in Bangkok

    Reuters

    December 02, 2008 09:25pm

BANGKOK international airport will remain closed until December 15 because of the blockade by anti-government protesters, the airport's manager says. "The rally has caused massive damage to the country. We will try to open the airport as soon as possible," Serirat Prasutanond, acting head of Airports of Thailand said in a statement.

The closure refers to passenger flights. One cargo flight left on Tuesday and others were scheduled to follow, the first departures in a week.

  4. Another report from the Australian newspaper:

ANTI-GOVERNMENT demonstrators have agreed to allow flights to resume from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi international airport after a week-long blockade, a protest leader said.

"As of this moment the PAD (People's Alliance for Democracy) has allowed flights to take off and land immediately, both passenger and cargo flights," senior alliance member Somkiat Pongpaiboon said.

The PAD occupied Suvarnabhumi and the smaller Don Mueang domestic airport last week, stranding 350,000 passengers and causing massive damage to the Thai economy.

Thailand's airport authority confirmed there was an agreement with protesters, saying flights may be able to resume if there are no "technical problems".

"We have reached an agreement with PAD to start clearing protesters from the passenger zone to reopen Suvarnabhumi Airport," said Vudhihaandhu Vichairatama, chairman of the board of Airports of Thailand.

"But how soon depends on technical issues. If there is no technical problem the first flights would resume within 24

  6. Thailand is in in turmoil. Their international gateway has been overrun by protesters for nearly a week now. Arguably hundreds of thousands of people have now missed flights, or cannot get home. The local economy must be on the verge of collapse. Report have said that nearly a million people will face unemployment next year as a direct result of this chaos ... So, what does Thailands gutless coward Prime Minister do today, he visits a temple http://www.nationmultimedia.com/breakingne...newsid=30089806

  7. They have closed their office at Thapae Gate in Chiang Mai.

Of course they have ... They cant handle the pressure of having to give customer service ... sh#t airline, I hope they go bust.

  8. Attention PRESS: Please help us get the OP out of Thailand. He or She is a Drama Queen and a TROLL.....

not a drama queen, what he (she?) is saying is true!

You are a troll as well ..... No one is being held hostage .... Just think yourself lucky that your are not being held hostage in a Mumbai hotel .... Go down to Singapore or KL by bus and jump on a plane you big blouses..

  9. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

  10. This is a serious situation!

We are being held hostage in Thailand.

There are thousands of people placed in hotels in and around Bangkok who are not able to leave and go back to their home countries. Many of these people are in dire straits as it was the end of their holidays and they are now out of money. They can not afford to stay in Thailand any longer. Eventhough Thai Airways are taking care of food and accomodation, stranded passengers still need to contact work, home and relatives but this has to be on own expense. Many have to go back to work.

We were told this morning that it will take at least ten days before people will be able to go home. We can not wait that long. This situation is destroying lives.

This is an urgent call for the press to get involved so that International help can be called upon. If you have contact with the press, please get in touch. We are stranded at the Ambasador City Hotel in Pattaya. Around 10 different nationalities are involved. Please help us get home.

  11. hi all,

I have a very interesting story about person(thai) trick few other people for a serious amount of money in some town in thailand,

that person is well known in the town but as there's alot of fear so nobody wants to deal with the scammer/trick person.

It may be mafia,it may be a gang..

How I make this story be on high-lights??I think if this story gets the right exposure then it will make the case solve faster for people.

help please.any connection can be helpfull.

    PM me as well.

Sounds like every town in Thailand

    ps. Is it Thaksin?

  12. I am getting tired of reading post the like of "will they charge for overstaying", "it is not our fault" blah blah blah ... Wake up people, of course they will. This is not a normal country, it is a failed state that has fallen into the abyss. Thailand has always been a dirty cash grab ... any opportunity to extort money without thinking of long term consequences has been the norm. Just look back at the thousands of previous topics/post on Thai Visa over the years which have touched on this topic. Most were met with the holier than thou die responses from die hard farangs that were prepared to defend Thailand at any cost. At the moment tourism is thriving in Thailand, because no one can leave ... As soon as the airports are open again there will be a mass exodus of people who have finally had enough ... Will the last one out shut the door.

    You damned cynic you!

why would you think that the immigration wouldn't want to be generous???? They will probably pass a law in the next 24 hours where the charge is a million a day, just to pay for the shit they have.

The dumb gits unfortunately had a captive market at the airport, then went and closed the exchange booths, the restaurants etc..the usual Thai business skills, they could have made a killing...the cops or the army will probably make a real killing later tonight though!

    I hope not literally ....

That is one thing I have learnt about Thailand, if there is a baht to be made, then dam_n the consequences down the track. Better to make one baht today than worry about the next. I love Thailand, but I am afraid they are their chickens are well and truly coming home to roost.

ps. If truth be told, they have never wanted us here anyway, just out $$$

  14. One killed in Thai clash in Chiang Mai

    Source : Agence France-Presse

A MAN has been killed in a clash between pro and anti-government supporters in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai shortly after the Prime Minister arrived in the city, police say. Fighting between the rival groups broke out on Wednesday after premier Somchai Wongsawat flew in from a foreign trip to receive the news that the army chief had asked him to call elections in a bid to end months of political protests.

"There was an argument between a red shirt group and a yellow group in front of the radio station and a man was attacked and killed,'' Lieutenant Colonel Atipong Thongdaeng of Chiang Mai police said.

He said it was not clear whether the victim was from a pro-government group, which usually wear red clothes, or if he was part of the movement against Somchai's administration, which is often clad in yellow.

  15. MEDIA RELEASE from QANTAS website

The Thai government has advised us that on 24 November 2008, the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) has shifted the focus of their protest action to Don Muang Airport (DMK) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), which has been the seat of the Thai Government for several months.

As a result of this unrest and the subsequent closure of Bangkok airport, the following flights have been affected.

25 November 2008 - QF2 and codeshare flight BA7312 from London to Sydney via Bangkok will now operate London to Sydney, via Singapore. For customers with a final destination of Bangkok, our airport staff in Singapore will assist with onward travel to Bangkok.

26 November 2008 - QF1 and codeshare flight BA7311 from Sydney to London, via Bangkok will now operate Sydney to London via Singapore. For customers with a final destination of Bangkok, we request that you call Qantas reservations on 131313 to discuss rebooking alternatives. If you are utilizing Bangkok as a stopover transit stop and your final destination is London, you may choose to travel through on this flight to London.

As we are unsure of the duration of this unrest in Bangkok, we do recommend that all non urgent travel to Thailand is

    deferred to a later date.

The following outlines the options available to Qantas passengers who are holding a valid ticket on Qantas for travel on or

before 01 December 2008 and who wish to make changes to their bookings.

  16. Some expats have lost the plot completely. They defend all the bad things that they see and have convinced themselves with their weak arguments that it can somehow be justified.

A classic example is sinsot. Guys who have been fleeced or are willing to be turned over somehow try to defend their actions citing that it is Thai culture. Irrespective of their lack of historical knowledge, any union between a Thai and a non Thai is a 50% Thai and yet they conveniently forget all the western traditions that go with marriage.

That is just one example but for the most part, guys are so grateful for getting some sex from someone that they lose the plot and become more Thai than Thais ! That is at the basis of the vast vast majority of relationships which engender this Orwellian mantra that Thailand good, western bad.

I see it all the time. Western folk ignoring the obvious because of some made up excuse. The trouble is that they have actually convinced themselves in their illusionary world.

I've lived in a number of countries including some in Asia and guys elsewhere don't act like this. Why ? because the main reason for being in most countries is not to get laid. In Thailand it is, however which way it is neatly packaged and wrapped up.

I love Thailand but I know where I fit into their strata and I don't kid myself that very few Thais actually want foreigners here. As one poster from somewhere long ago said, they would be much happier if we just left our money at the airport and buggered off back to wherever we came from. Very true indeed.

Excellent Post & bang on the money..

    I agree ... Excellent post

  17. I agree with Huey as far as I am proud to be American and do not wish to be Thai or anything else. However, I do tire of people who complain about everything and everyone in Thailand to such a degree that one is bound to ask the question, "So why don't you leave then?" Some expats seem to have the opinion, "I Ihate this country and I hate the Thais but it is cheap and I cannot get l--d back home but I can buy sex off your women on the cheap so I will do you all a favor and live here anyway." I myself, being American, am not very impressed by the political system here. Who is? Not even the Thais, from what I see. And there are appalling abuses of human rights. I myself work in a voluntary capacity to attempt to combat some of that. So far, I don't really think I have accomplished much and perhaps never will. But I believe if one sees something wrong it is better to try to change it than just complain about it. Like someone else here said, why don't people just live life? If something is bad then say it is bad. Just as long as you can also see what is good. And as far as being accepted by Thais, or thought of as Thai, I don't believe a farang will ever obtain this but who wants to? In many places in this country the Thais treat me better than their countrymen.

Have look in your own backyard as well .... I think Guantamano Bay takes the cake for human rights abuses

  18. I have been working in Thailand for the last nine years, mainly as a teacher. On September 13 I turned 65 so I flew to Australia and applied for the pension. I was told that I would be informed within 2 to 3 weeks. I returned a week later to LOS. After hearing nothing in a month I rang Centrelink and was told that I should hear something in the next week. After 8 week had elapsed I rang again and was told that my application was rejected on the grounds that I was living in Thailand. I was since told that to recieve it I would need to return and stay in Australia for a period of 2 years. I could then return here. I am an Australian citizen and worked most of my life in Australia and paid taxes. I have a Thai partner and 6 year old son which I didn't mention about in my application as I didn't think it relevant in my application. Should I have mentioned this fact. I would much appreciate if anyone else has had a similar experience because it seems that I will be condemed to a 2 yr term in Australia.
Thanks for everyones comments. After posting the thread yesterday I immediatly found the thread that Xangsamhua mentioned. I have read through most of the comments and I have a much clearer picture now. I am already booked to return on 30th. I will try to have the decision reversed and prove that I am an Australian citizen on extended holidays or whatever. I will also contact the local MP to see if he can help. If I have any luck I will inform.

I think it is pretty dam_n poor that as an Australian citizen who paid his taxes, you should not be able to have your pension, wherever you are. I wish you all the best.

I do however fail to see how you would think that it is not relevant to mention that you had a thai wife and child. Unless of course it was your intention to pass the belief that you were not settled in Thailand.

  19. Hi all, this is a serious thread. I've heard from several farangs, with thai girlfriends from poorer backgrounds, who face the moral dilemma of wanting to move on to other relationships but they still have enough concern for their former partner to not want them thrown back into the ruthless life of being poor and thai and alone. If the girl isn't particularly interested in finding new love or a new bf, I've been wondering if adult adoption isn't the solution for the two people...

No need to "adopt" or sign anything unless you want some kind of control over her. Just keep transferring money into her bank account every month - 10,000 baht would be more than enough for a country girl. I understand how you feel and hope you can move on from this failed relationship.

JetsetBKK you are as equally pathetic as the OP. What misguided world are you all living in. If the relationship is over, its over. Chances are it is over because she got a better offer from some other equally naieve farang. I am sure the TG will be laughing all the way to the bank with her new boyfriend, or even better the shady thai BF who has been lurking in the background all along.

Adoption, sending money each month ........ for <deleted>#ks sake, no wonder so many Thais think we are stupid buffalos. I am starting to know why...

  20. Don't listen to all the critics. If you are having fun than that's all that matter.

Keep making the videos and I'll keep watching. Thanks

If you look and read what the OP says...he is asking for advice. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism, know one is really slagging off his efforts just trying to help the geezer out for his next update of life in Thailand.

you mean constructive criticism like this "What CRAP..... Like the concept, but was bored sh*tless after 3mins".

now I see what you mean

Hey, I never said mine was constructive criticism ... I just called it how I saw it, it is crap and I was bored sh*tless. If you like it, good for you ... download it and tell your buddies ....
