  1. It may sound a bit harsh, but a Thai will talk easily about taking its own life.

For us it's a reason to get full mental and medical attention, but for a Thai (buddhist) it's a new start, a new life: If I can't succeed in this life, I'll try the next.

Next time, stay cool and relaxed. If they see that threatening with suicide has no effect, they'll find another way to attract your attention.

Once, my partner threatened to take his own life. It was the first time he did this and I kindly asked him to do it outside the house and if he was quickly, he could make it to the 6 p.m. cargo train from Sattahip to Bangkok.

He shut up for a few seconds, looked me straight in the eyes and went to bed.

He never threatened to take his own life again.

Most Thais know, that such a threat has some strange on most of us.

  2. AFAIK there was a case of an overdose of sound a few years ago.

It came from pick ups, advertising live-shows or new movies, driving up and down Soi Neun Pleb Waan from early morning until late.

The annoyed people went to city hall; some city hall workers investigated the complaints and for some time the trucks disappeared.

My advise: Call 1337 and complain there.

  3. Usually, Thai ae not bothered about the time of crime or any other action. Something comes up and they'll act. Probably the guy needed the money to pay his rent (beginning of the month!)

Downside is, that the chance of it happening again at the same time and same place is almost nill.

  4. To be honest: I went there about a year ago to check the place out.

They showed me a room on the 3rd floor..............it was absolutely worn out.

The walls were dirty and damaged; the bathroom was covered with fungus; the furniture was old, damaged and incomplete..........

it's a typical Thai Long Stay facility.

For a few thousand baht more there are plenty of places to stay. If the few thousand baht is a problem......than don't bother to stay at all!!

  5. Why exactly do they need a 6 Million baht computer system to do this?

    Haha yes, 12 people.......everyone a work station @ THB 30,000 makes THB 360,000

a heavy server of THB 100,000

a fast intranet-connection to the main-computer in BKK

    and some other facilities..........

    maybe THB 500,000 all together.

So, the first THB 5,5 mln already is in someones pocket.

    Good project.

  6. If you're going to open a bankaccount, the question probably will be: "Do you have some proof of address, e.g. utility bill, business card of landlord/home/condo/hotel or a work permit?"

If you show them either of the above, it doesn't mean that that's what they ask for; they just ask for a proof of address.

If they start asking for a visa or any other document, then the employee is too busy and is not in the mood of opening a bankaccount.

  7. Boy Air and Sound

along Sukhumvit: drive North outbound Pattaya/Banglamung.

Pass the traffic lights near the TN Factory outlet and take the next U-turn.

After the U-turn, it's approx. 400 meters on the left.

  8. I live about 1 km up soi siam country club from sukhomvit and have just bought a laptop, can anyone recommend a reasonable priced and more importantly reliable and fast speed wireless intern connection

I only know that the area along Pattaya Beachroad has a "city-WIFI" and I do have some experiences with Kirz. They offer 1MB for THB 990.

If you are planning to use your laptop mostly at/around your home, get a wired internet connection with a wireless router.

  9. chances are they dumb it back into the sea over night :whistling:

The first reply was the best: phone 1337 and explain exactly where the glass is found. They will send someone over to investigate and probbly fine the beach chair vendor , because he is the one who should his part of the beach clean.

  10. For reasons I keep being reminded we're not allowed to discuss here, satellite TV is currently not an option for me.

I have two options for cable, Sophon and TMN. Which is least crappy? I'm mostly after English language news channels and stuff like Nat Geo and Discovery.

Edit for making the question a bit more specific:

To those who have Sophon & TMN: Please, would you mind listing the English language channels you have + eventually stuff like Nat Geo and/or Discovery (but afaik none of them show anything like that, prolly would cause the Thai viewers to think too mutt)

    Uhm, just from my memory:

SVT (Scandinavian TV), BVN (Belgium-Dutch), Bllomberg, DW (German), BIO (a discovery like channel), some Astro Sport channels, Euro Sport, TV5 Asia (French), some Arabic-language channels, Al Jazeera, TRT (Turkish), some Russian language channels, BBC World-Asia, there are more, but I can't open www.tmncabletv.com at the moment.

My location: Naklua Road between Soi 13 and 11.

  11. This dog might be a Buddhist on the journey to the next life,

For f*cks sake let him go and help a child through school instead.

    :jap:

  12. I have Kirz in Pattaya, quality is not US or EUR standard, latency is around 300ms (should be 25ms) download 300kbs upload 200kbs even if they advertise 3000mbs and 2000mbs upload...

    It sucks

After one month Kirz (up 0.8mb, down 0.15mb) for THB 990/month, I switched to 3BB (up 3.8MB and down 0.5mb) for THB 590 and THB 100 installation.

  13. Regardless of the charge and the outcome ... What a nightmare to have that media circus trample around in your house without being able to throw them out. Disgraceful!

Disgraceful to be trampling on young boys.

Does the words "considered innocent until proven guuilty by a court of law" have any meaning to you? Do they really need the whole media circus trampling around in his private home, touching, pilfering stuff, who knows what?

Sounds familiar to me (watch a lot of US court-soaps), but in Thailand they say: "Considered guilty until proven not-guilty!!"

  14. Well I hesitate to suggest you are wrong, but here goes...I live at 20260 and regulary (yesterday) have to collect undelivered items...always at Naklua Post Office.

    Depends on the zip-code:

asaik 20260 will go to the new post office Na-Jomtien along Sukhumvit near the interesction with Chayapruk II and 20150 will end up in the Banglamung (Naklua) postoffice.

DO NOT wait too long with the recovery of your parcel, because they usually hold it for 14 days and than it will be "returned to the sender".

Pdavies99, i think you are right, i live near Chaiyapruek 2 and my postcode is 20150, i had to collect a parcel last week from the new PO on Sukhumvit.

Then, next time you pick up a parcel from the new PO on Sukhumvit, check out the message board on the left side of the counters.

  15. Just pick the dog up and take it to a vet,Indians are always like this,PM me if you want any help.

you know how 1 billion Indians behave when it concerns dogs? remarkable! :bah:

The Indians probably spent all their cash on sick buffalos.

  16. If I was your landlord, a good 1-1/2 year-long tenant is a point I would consider too. If everything else is in a good shape the owner should say Mai Pen Rai and pay the bill, that's my opinion.

That's exactly what happened. While she agreed to buy a new fan she did say that I would be responsible for the new one as it is new and I am using it. I disagreed with this also as I rented the condo with a fan. She reconsidered and said I would not be responsible unless I broke it. I have had no problems with this landlady and still don't. Just wanted to get this worked out in case something big goes out like TV or air conditioner or refrigerator. Thanks for all the feedback

For rent: condo - furnished THB 10,000 and condo not-furnished THB 6500 per month.

Pretty easy: You pay for the furniture and everything that's in the condo at the time you moved in.

One can not be expected to pay rent for the furniture (incl. a/c, tv and fridge) and repair/replace it when it's broke.

Take care, that a list of containings is attached to the contract.

  17. You could only sell 'straight-forward' condoms in various sizes.

Every difference in smell, taste, color or shape would be a sex-toy and those are't allowed in Thailand.

Don't mirror your concept to C&C: The owner is a very well-known member of the Thai society and a fighter against STD's and promoter of condoms.

If he is allowed to sell condoms/sex-toys in his restaurants/venues, than you should try to cooperate with C&C and set up a franchise under the C&C brand.

I know that is wrong! Flavored, colored condoms are always on sale at Boots. Let's not get carried away in exaggerating the strange sexual restrictions in Thailand.

Frankly, I also think your CC idea is daft. It is mostly a restaurant and he GIVES AWAY condoms. Not in bulk of course. Good for him. There is no way such a unique man would be open to outside franchising, and his concept has pretty much nothing to do with a specialized condom/lubricant store. While on the subject a lubricant store can offer sample bottles for people to test the feel of the various brands (on their fingers, don't get carried away now ...)

Well Jingthing, if you know all the answers, why post it here as a question.

Good luck in your future condom-shop.
