  1. Prayut most certainly wants to maintain the the state of emergency as long as he can. He does not want those troublesome freedom seeking students and others to start offering their opinion about his leadership.
  2. "He was forced to apologize". He should have been sacked on the spot if the commanding officer had any decency, intelligence or commonsense.
  3. And will continue to be miserable for the foreseeable future given the ridiculous amount of requirements to enter the country. They are as usual living in a dream world thinking tourists will jump through never ending hoops to enter a third world country that has very little to offer tourists. So many better options around the world now for genuine tourists. Genuinely feel sorry for the Thai people having to put up with people in power who are intent on ruining their country.
  4. They will be looking for key words such as Cha Cha is a <deleted>. That phrase will be repeated millions of times every day!
  5. Chinese not travelling for 5 to 10 years would make the world a safer place also.
  6. They want to track all the foreigners but they are simply not smart enough to do it. Give them a few more decades and they may have progressed beyond Windows XP as well.
  7. Agree. But the real worry is testing positive and being asymptomatic and then being at the mercy of the hospital and their over the top charges. Insurance no longer covers these cases. With other more enlightened countries moving on and having common sense entry requirements it is time for the government to wake up and to have entry requirements based on common sense.
  8. They are either too stupid to work it out(Likely) or too full of their own self importance and their belief that Thailand rules supreme in the tourism world.
  9. You must believe the Thai governments figures regarding deaths due to Covid. Like most things in Thailand it is all a lie designed to save face.
  10. Agree. Compare the Thais English skills to the 2.2 million overseas Filipino workers around the world. I know I would much prefer to hire a Filipino or Filipina with good English skills compared to a Thai person with very limited English. Thai people are at a huge disadvantage due to their poor education system and their governments lack of serious belief in English language tuition in schools.
  11. I would suggest that the results of the next elections are already known. They are only having elections as a public relations exercise to both their population and to the world. They have already determined the winners!
  12. Good post. "If you are asymptomatic and do not fall in a risk category, you can self-isolate at your hotel or your own accomodation if you have one" Could you please tell me if this is official policy or is it something that may or may not happen if you test positive and are asymptomatic? The threat of an expensive hospital stay not covered by insurance is potentially stopping many people from going to Thailand. A link to the official policy would be appreciated.
  13. Did you mean walk from the airport to his hotel with all his luggage which most likely was many kilometres away? Nice of you to offer such friendly advice.
  14. Thailand will never win that competition unless they change their long standing xenonophobic attitude. Current entry requirements are onerous, lacking in common sense and border on entrapment due to the two PCR tests that are required on day 1 and day 5. Asymptomatic cases being sent to hospital with the associated outlandish costs reeks of profiteering and entrapment.
  15. I am eagerly awaiting an answer as I am sure the chances of being forced into hospital while asymptomatic is stopping thousands of people from booking their flight to Thailand. Meanwhile other countries in the region continue to open with minimal restrictions.
  16. Good post. However my experience during my numerous trips to the Philippines is that there are many many good quality restaurants serving good quality western food in the tourist areas of the Philippines.
  17. Agree. They also have excellent English speaking skills. A friendly and welcoming attitude to foreigners. They have special lanes in restaurants for seniors to ensure quick service. They have a dedicated program to allow you to retire there. If you do not wish to be part of this retirement program you can continue to renew your visa easily and never have to visit an immigration office if you don't want to. Need to leave the country every three years this way but can come back the next day. Stunning beaches, Stunning ladies who can speak English and you can have an intelligent conversation with about all topics. 7135 islands to choose from. Reasonable cost of living. Most importantly you are welcomed by the country and not treated as an annoyance by the government and immigration officers as you are in Thailand. Thai people and Thailand are great but the policies and demeanour of the government and immigration to foreigners is nothing short of abominable. They are a democratic country and welcome foreigners.
  18. By the time Thailand comes to its senses and removes the current restrictions other countries will have captured the tourist dollars and the tourists continuing support. Then Thailand will be so far behind the other smarter and more welcoming countries they will never catch up. Other countries want tourists and their money. , Thailand only wants the money.
  19. If you have a trusted partner would you consider setting up a power of attorney to allow them to sign for you?
  20. We all know exactly where the money will be going and it will be straight to the government slush fund and will be distributed to the people at the top of the totem pole. No transparency ever with these fools.
