She has a job in Thailand, but not a well paying one.
Our relationship can be easily proven + I send her money every month for more than a year.
She really needs to show that she has strong ties to her home country, Thailand.
You sending her funds every month will do little to achieve that, the decision maker could assume, rightly or wrongly, that she would stay with her benefactor in the EU rather that return to Thailand and her not well paying job.

Then this should be listed as a requirement so there is no confusion
That would make it too easy for the applicants.

Can I do the invitation letter or should I get my son to do one from the UK?
Not sure what you actually mean by that?
You can do a short covering letter outlining the reason for the visit, and details of the finances, if you and your partner are in a subsisting relationship here in Thailand detail that as her reason to return.
If you are staying with your son, then a brief note outlining would be helpful.

Of course we have all this information but would prefer to hand it all in with a nice neat file to Trendy buildings, as opposed to uploading. I don't like that method and that's it.
Is there a way of making an appointment and handing the documents in to Trendy buildings as opposed to uploading documents?
Yes the applicant can take your supporting evidence to the Visa Application Centre and pay a small fee for VFS to upload them If you decided not to self-upload your documents onto the UK platform.
Not sure that a nice neat file is going to make a lot of difference, VFS say they will help with preparing, sorting and arranging your supporting documents and documents will be arranged using the required barcode separators.
Whatever they decide the applicant still needs to visit the Application Centre to have their biometric details cuptured.

I think this may have been asked before, on my demise my wife is eligible for a widows pension of 50% of my Civil Service Pension, my State Pension will die with me.
I had assumed that even though she doesn't have a UK Passport, and it's unlikely that we'll ever return to the UK, she would still be entitled to the Personal Allowance to set against her widows pension, but I'm not sure and the HMRC will not give me a straight answer, but simply refer me to their website.
The tax saving by receiving the PA is around £2,500, so worth finding out.
Any ideas where I can get a definitive answer?
ThanksThis seems to imply that she wouldn't be entitled to the Personal Allowance, though may be able to claim the tax on the PA annually, unless she qualifies under the double taxation rules - I'm really not sure though
Personal Allowance
You’ll get a Personal Allowance of tax-free UK income each year if any of the following apply:
- you hold a British passport
- you’re a citizen of a European Economic Area (EEA) country
- you’ve worked for the UK government at any time during that tax year
You might also get it if it’s included in the double-taxation agreement between the UK and the country you live in.
Claim the Personal Allowance
If you’re not a UK resident, you have to claim the Personal Allowance at the end of each tax year in which you have UK income. Send form R43 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

That is unknown at this time.
I will be trying to use one next month for my extension.
It's certainly intention to present a statement emailed to me by Bangkok Bank next year.
But I'll also purchase a statement from Bangkok, via my local branch, to present in the case that the IO I deal with on the day isn't prepared to embrace the Governments digitel iniative.

A visa agent for what service, applying for a visa for overseas or for within Thailand?

Could I ask what you included for your address proof, did your agent suggest what were acceptable options ?
I don't really have anything that fits the official guidelines per the Table A notes. I get a monthly summarised invoice for utilites from my condo office, I've got an annual valuation booklet from a UK pension provider and I guess I could get an addressed bank statement from Krungsri at a cost.
l would have thought that most applicants living in Thailand would be able to comply with the Table A requirements by supplying “one document as evidence of name and address and/or residency within the last year” using the residency proof, maybe “Visa or residence permit (or colour photocopy)” or “Immigration documents”. -

Using Wise the 50k limit doesn't apply to Kasikorn, Krungsri and SCB, the same name doesn't seem important
From the Wise website
Please note that you’ll be able to send 50,000 THB or above per transfer only to the following banks starting from 7 January 2022 due to regulatory changes:
-
Bangkok Bank Public Company
-
Kasikorn Bank
-
Siam Commercial Bank
You can still send money to recipient accounts that use other banks, but you’ll only be allowed to send them up to 49,999 THB per transfer. There’s no limit on how many transfers you can create.

Click on accounts, next to the home icon at the foot of your screenClick on the account that you want a statement for
Click on the three dots on the top right corner of your screen
The option to request a statement is there

I tried but could only get the last 6 months. And if not stamped by the Bank, are they acceptable to the dear IO.
You can now get up to 12 months if you apply via their App, it's a new service and I did a succesfully did a trial run yesterday, the statement was delivered in about 30 mins via email.
Of course, as we both wondered, it really depends what the IO's take would be, most certainly don't like to make things straightforward.

I bank with Kasikorn, I opened an account with Bangkok Bank for the sole purpose of receiving funds from my UK account, I transfer on receipt to my Kasikorn Account.
I registered to receive Credit Advices and they are sent out automatically, usually about 45 mins after the funds reach my account.
Another plus point is that most of the incoming transfers are on the same page, and the IO doesn't need to check the book line by line.
You can now get statements for up to 12 months via the BKK Bank App, they are delivered via email. Though I'm not sure if the IO's would accept these, as it would be too easy for the applicant.

You could consider trying to make your HSBC account a joint account then the account would revert to her name in the event of your demise, or the other way round.
Not sure if you could do that from Thailand though, especially if the account is registered to a UK address.
As the previously poster has rightly advised a UK based Will would allow her to access her inheritance following probate, and that can take some time.
My pensions are paid into a joint account with Santander International, in the event of my demise the account would revert to her on production of a certified death certificate, whilst this process is carried out she can access the account legally online or via her debit card.

Can I ask which was the correct forum?
As @DrJack54has informed you, your post has been moved to the section for Thai Visas, and this is where you’ve just posted in.
You originally posted in the section for visas to countries outside of Thailand.

4 hours ago, bolt said:you could adjust your online application and perhaps ask someone to take your passport to UK and then post it to them from there
it would be returned to UK address then then that person could post it back to you via EMS
the time taken is approx. 3-4 weeks.
its worth a shot rather than going all the way to Bangkok
By adjust your application you mean falsely declare that you’re applying from a country your not resident in, your suggestion his illegal and highly risky.

i recently made an online application using UK passport website
application was submitted June 18th
i got DHL message saying New passport is expected delivery July 18th
i paid 115 GBP + cost of mailing old passport to UK office
I won't be using any agents ever again or going to BKK
the website say 11 weeks but it seems quicker, my case is slightly tricky because i hold 2 UK passports
Application history
Status Date Passport printed 3:25am on 13 July 2022 Application approved 2:13pm on 12 July 2022 Documents received 7:58am on 4 July 2022 Application received 3:57am on 18 June 2022 Application submitted 3:56am on 18 June 2022
All well and good if you live in a country that allows online renewals for UK passports, Thailand isn’t one of those countries. You don’t appear to be posting from Thailand.

I still would think my personal pension providers would not pay into Nationwide International because they will only pay my pensions into a UK bank.
Both my pension providers, State and Civil Service, used to deposit my pension into Nationwide International until they closed their doors in, l think, 2017.Both now pay into my account with Santander International.
No doubt most pension providers have their own rules, but there must be many expats in their fold who no longer have UK based accounts. Wise hasn’t been around for that long and it may not suit all.
