You probably use electricity in your home, you are getting EMF radiation all the time.

It’s nonsense to say that it has adverse health effects, except in very high, signal strength, like standing in front of a microwave transmitter.

Yes , some EMF at home but not high voltage , high current switching like in an EV , very close to your body.

Are you also worried the sky will fall in?

It seems you worry a lot.

BTW the dmax is both dirty and smelly, no matter what you think.

(Not an EV owner, just someone who is not a fan boy of EV or diesel unlike many)=. Diesels are smelly, dirty, rattly, even if you have a 1990's CD player blasting. Modern EVs are silent, comfortable, and have Apple Car Play or Android Auto wireless connections.

If the batteries ignite , yes my sky will fall in.

    I don't use anything wireless.

The switching power of the electronics inside an EV is not healthy too. Electrosmog.

Why would an EV be more comfortable than a regular car ? Because of a screen with menus ? Not for me , thanks.

Modern ICE cars can be silent too . The tyres make noise too and EV's are heavier.

That's great news, fantastic! The bad news is that you are driving around in a noisy, dirty, smelly, uncomfortable, old fashioned, 17 year old pickup truck. Thanks for sharing.

I rather drive an old non-smart car than a computer on 4 wheels. I love my dmax , not that dirty or smelly because I pass the car test every year.

It is noisy but I don't hear it because my cd player is always on.

It's a 4 door cab and with a small cushion for my back , it is comfortable enough.

I have a closed garage , and feel pretty confident , I would sh-t my pants leaving a lithium battery car there. All my life I had not much luck with batteries. I don't see how it will be better with a battery powered car.

BUT if I had solar panels on the house , I would considder an EV , but away from the house and only if the dmax was beyond repair.

  4. I just let them build and inner wall with qcon , actually TPI blocks on the noisy and sunny side.

Nice to have a 21 cm thick wall instead of the cheap 6,5 cm concrete + rendering. And it takes care of those ugly sticking out support pillars , you see everywhere , usually every 4 meters.

    TPI blocks were 29 B , the concrete ones 6 B,

Can't tell if it is much better , the house is not finished yet.

Weak point will be the single glass windows.

As I am the only one to use ONT in the thread I guess the OP's reply was aimed at my picture post. I made a follow up post to be sure the OP understands a stand alone ONT does not limit his options. It's best to leave  modems out of the picture when talking about fibre services to the home.

Your pics are a little confusing .

I guess the yellow is the fiber cable .

First is the ONT , or the second one ? Or both ?

  6. Yes an ONT or without router may be too limited.

Next year I go to europe for about 1 month , and I would like a camera connected to the internet that send a pic every 5 minutes or so , so that I can keep an eye on my cats , or better said : keep an eye on who's looking after my cats.

I don't know how to do that , but I read about people that have surveillance of their house . No 24/7 video , just a simple status pic .

  7. Thanks guys !

So it is totally possible to switch off wifi .

I don't know much about routers. Can the LAN cable go directly from their modem to my computer , without a router ?

    The 5770 + 1000 +vat. is for all packages:

ดูแพ็คเกจ (nteservice.com)  , click on any + in the offers.

To lay the fiber cable from their nearest station , first 300 meter is free.

On this router , userid & passw are on the bottom :

    Huawei Echolife Eg8120l Gpon Onu ไม่1ge1fe1tel เราเตอร์โมเด็มใยแก้วนำแสง Sc Upc เฟิร์มแวร์ภาษาอังกฤษ | Lazada.co.th

  8. Apparently the fiber cable comes to your house and you can use your own or their modem.
I do not know if there are modems with a fiber cable input , and they are opaque about the rent for using their modem. What's the deal ?

Another question : Can I switch off the wifi by going in their modem like with adsl modems in the past ? Like 198.198...... admin password , switch wifi on/off, so to only use the LAN. Those modems do have LAN in/out ?

    NT-Tot/cat has a promotion , but still have to pay connection 5770 + 1000 +vat.

    Thanks

  9. Nan is really great. Just the 101 from Phrae to Nan is fun . Not as spectacular as the 11 to Lampang.

Global house & especially Thai Watsadu , are big and great.

Makro very big with nice parking lot. Bigc always crowded , Lotusssss not so much.

Big chaotic market more north of town.

The road from Phayao to Nan is spectacular.

Nan is still small , no double frontage roads like in Lampang , or superhighway like CM , where 1 mistake lets you detour 20 km.

It would be my choice to live when I'd leave my current place.

I binned Windows 14 years ago in favour of Linux; best thing I've ever done.  I tried several distros before settling for Linux Mint, and am still using that now.

As a Windows user, you won't get lost with Mint.  You won't have to learn any coding, unless you want to.

Download the latest Mint ISO, and try it on your computer without installing.

    Excellent system, really.

If you don't mind enormous flatpacks/snaps. If you don't mind loosing functionality of your touchpad and touch screen. If you're not interested in a good taskmanager that shows you a clear picture of what your computer is doing , especially your 1 or 2 GPU's. If you don't mind pulling your SD cards out without a clear signal that you can. If you don't mind renaming files/folders with a right click.

Hard to install with secure boot on , weird grub screens at start up,.... Good windows apps that work differently (worse) or have no good alternative in linux

and I can go on and on.

But great that you are happy with it. I wish I was , so I could ditch windows.

For the "dreaded to death" answer in this thread: NOTICE THE ABSENCE FROM *.JPG in the choice of default programs!!!
You CAN NOT SELECT *.JPG anymore!!!

In the Registrery, you can not change *JPG destination.

I am not computer savvy, so it is taking a bit of time to understand some of the posts, It is, however, interesting to read, and learn what Windows is doing. My main complaint with Windows 11 is the 30 second lag between closing one window on the desktop, and opening another. I have looked online to no avail, as it seems Microsoft is ignoring this problem totally. A small inconvenience, I admit, but still a nuisance when you are sitting waiting for the desktop icon to highlight before you can open it.

    30 seconds ? Or 3 ?

Are you using a HDD ?

  13. ^ I can't find it on that site . You mean running XP on a new computer ?

XP has not been written off. Next year I go to europe where my 2nd hand identical twin computer is and make 1 from the 2. I still have the original XP install cd and all the drivers/progr and MS (wanted) updates.

I still need that computer to access my TrueCrypts.

Truecrypt volumes crash my W11 , in truecrypt , or veracrypt in truecrypt mode.

I hear a lot that W7 was the best. I didn't like it and stayed with XP till begin 2023. Still like it better.

MS-Edge and some other MS software can not be removed since the last Windows update.

You can read that in many Google questions and the MS site itself.

MS-Edge and some other programs are now embedded in the OS and when removed Windows will go on error.

The last Windows update has elevated most programs to WEB programs and are now part of the MS WEB.

Thus paving the road for Windows 12 that will be completely WEB based OS.

Agree, you can chose to run a lower version of windows and "enjoy" it.

But most software packages are upgrading as well and most of them with the same behavior as Win 11.

All software is evolving to web based programs which can only run ONLINE.

Chrome and Google have already jump on the bandwagon.

Good to know , I'll stick with 22621.1928.

Even if I wouldn't use Edge , it is good to have it as a backup if there is a problem with the other browsers you use.

"The last Windows update has elevated most programs to WEB programs and are now part of the MS WEB."

    Wich ones ?

Linux like some posters recommend is very frustrating and disappointing. It is with good reason that after decades and a million distro's, linux is still nowhere on desktop computing for the masses.  Try it  and you'll find out for youself.

  15. Strange what you write about W11, Confuscious. I come from XP and I got used to W11 . You can totally get rid of all the forced Microsoft ads and news . Edge is ok , it is not forced , I like it better than firefox. Photo is not that bad. I haven’t found anything better. Video and audio all open in potplayer or MPE-BE , I deleted all the W11 audio and videoplayers. Much of the bloat and crapware can be uninstalled. You don’t need a Microsoft account either.

W11 updates can be blocked , even in home version with a good firewall.

I’ve tried Linux Mint and Zorin OS ,and as much as I hate Microsoft , I was glad to re-install W11.

If you get annoyed by W11 , you’ll be even more annoyed by linux. If you have a new computer , linux will not fully support all your hardware.
