i want to replace existing downlights (e27 led) in my suspended ceiling (with staycool 6 inch).

during a brief test, i noticed that the housing (which will be in the ceiling) gets extremely hot.

is this normal, are there alternatives? do other brands (eg phillips) have the same issue?

    thanks, motdaeng

I just bought 6W spots and LED strips . They all get hot , too hot for my liking. Cheap spotlight are in plastic , not Aluminium , so cooling is even worse.

Like you , I'm about to use the 6 inch Staycool SCG with spots and after reading this here , I start to doubt too.

Sorry for going off topic : How do you like these Stay cool from SCG ? Does it really make a difference in heat and noise ? I bought one to see , and 6 inches ?? They are flattend rolled up to maybe 2 inches. Is it worth the 509B ? If it is too far off topic can you PM me , for replies about the staycool. I'm about to buy 40 rolls of them for 100 m2 .

  2. External SSD's are faster, although with WD passport HD's the first GB goes at 500 MB/s or so then it slows down al lot.

Samsung and other internal and extenal SSD are expensive in Thailand.

    The Samsung Portable SSD T7 2 GB : invadeit : 6990 , in my country , I just checked at 38,5/euro :5775 baht.

I'll buy them there when I go next year. That is another 6990 THB they can't tax , when I bring the money in.

So are you anticipating there will soon be a slowdown / a lockdown / an economic crises / a global deadly virus / a  lack of flights / a  war, etc., etc?

YES , definitely. And I can predict when . I will be when I'm in europe next year so that I can't get back.

Hopefully it will only be on that wacky part of the world , not on this side .

He does not. he just asked if it makes a difference,

This question can be answered , with a Yes there is, and explain, or No there isn't.

A difference not only in price but also the currency they show on their website. I don't want to pay in THB.

whats the destination? what have you been quoted business or economy? "Europe" is too vague

You don't have to look for me. But economy ofcourse , I'm not a millionair , and business is a waste of money.

Ok , my questions have been answered > look at big booking sites > but book at the airline itself.

And nothing has changed with the 3 years of restrictions for covid.

Flying is still a big pain , nearly as bad as going to the dentist , but even more expensive.

    Thanks guys.

Unlike all the <deleted> answers here id  avoid  skyscammers these  sites dont go to all airlines try going direct to www.gulfair.com Ive found them the cheapest at the moment for getting to the UK, ive just booked a Business  class flight with them for 80,000 baht return to the UK thats way cheaper than many others, Air france klm crap service but cheap and Oman Air  crap service but cheap

    www.omanair.com  www.airfrance.com

Gulfair doesn't fly to my destination and indeed KLM and airfrance are not for me.

Nothing through dubai , I take "pills" .

Look on google flights for the dates you wish to travel and they will give a whole lot of flight options and prices.
It’s best to book directly with the airline even though some of booking options are cheaper with some of the other websites. If there are any issues or changes you are able to deal directly with the airlines. If you use one of the other website booking platforms changes can be difficult and costly.

Google flights is a bit disappointing.

So far Etihad seems the best with 40 kg in economy.

I hear 6 month before is the sweet spot , but some are already full.

Since I replaced my aircons with inverter types my monthly electricity bill has dropped 50%. The start and stop of the old compressor uses high electricity. And the old compressor types always run on 100% when on, the new ones only with a percentage of the power (but nonstop), you can barely hear any sound. In fact they are so quiet that sometimes I even forget to swith the units off before leaving my home.

Starting is what , 5-10 seconds of current surge , stopping doesn't cost any power. The relay just cuts off.

Quiet maybe , but it keeps turning , and you forget it is on, or use the timer.

  9. Starts on jan 1st 2024 . So on tax day 2024 , they are going to look at your income of 2023 ?
Or what you brought in the country in tax year 2023.
So bringing in more money before 31 dec 2023 , could bite you in the behind ?

What about living from an inheritance ?
And the cash sniffer dogs at the airport , because I will bring in cash .
One poster  showed that from 150k to 300k = 5% . Worst case for me 15.000 tax a year .
    I wouldn't leave for that .
If they had gone through with the mandatory health insurence , which would cost 40k and up , then I'm out.

You can always update your fixed account bankbook. It just shows as "Bring Forward" transaction. I always updated the book on the day I went for extension. They never asked me to deposit or withdraw. Maybe the rule is different for fixed account. IO seems to prefer fixed account to the standard deposit.

Mine want a deposit or withdraw , not just an update or like you get after the monthly interest.

Probably not going to fly.  You'll have to carefully maintain the 800K/400K immigration required balance in your regular passbook savings account.  Go 1 baht under for an hour and you're going to have to start all over with a new visa (or use agent).

And then you've got your other 800K(?) tied up in a 2.75% 2-year fixed account, when that money could be overseas earning 10%.  Why?

    10 % ?? In russian ruble ? Argentine peso ? turkish lira ?

    Where do you get 10 % ?

Never buy cheap vitamins. They are not pure and contain other chemicals, not only what are listed back of bottles.

Or buy the same vitamins at the farmacy but at a  much higher price ?

Yes I don't trust lazada vitamins , but I have no choice .

I'm vegetarian but some eggs and yoghurt are not enough . Once I get back to europe , I will let them test my blood to see if these lazada B12 and D3 really work.
