1.
Check out Hard Ware House when in Pantip or other malls. I bought the exact same disc you ask about from them, and they seem a reliable source. I had none of the concerns you mentioned when buying my product from them.
Thank you for your reply.

Hard Ware House is on which floor, and front or back?

Which one did you buy, and how much did you pay?

Did it come in a box or just the plastic?

How much warranty do they give?

  2. Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop HDD to a WD scorpio black 320G or Hitachi travelstar7K320.

When I go to Panthip in BKK, I see components like external HDD or DDR ram nicely packed in a box, but HDD are just stacked up behind the glass counter in an ESD protected plastic bag.

This is a precision part, it doesn't like shocks, so handled carefully.

Maybe already opened and touched on the printboard. How do I know I got a new genuine one, not a refurbished or returned one by another costommer?

I read here on the forum to look out for the distributer sticker, but that is easily faked.

And if I leave the old HDD as it is, can I put it back in when the new one fails, without having to reinstall anything (OS or drivers,..) ?

  3. What puzzles me is that there is no individual parking for rent.

It is all parking with other cars , and I've spent enough time on supermarket parkings

to see how the Thai park! 40 -50 cm between cars. Doors , people, children touching, hitting

other people's cars. My car has been damaged 4 times on car parks.

When I went back to Europe for 3 weeks , I even went to real estate agents in BKK and Pattaya

to find me a parking for 1 car only, lockable like there are millions in Europe. Nobody could help me, there simply aren't any!

Now there is a niche market!

  4. Hey I'm in Chiang Mai and next month I have to do the visarun for my next 3 months non-im-o.icon2.gif

Reading the older threads , they sometimes check if you have enough cash (10.000 to 20.000B), is that still the case now (Jan 09)?

    So I need 3 photo's and photocopy for passport and 10$ or 500 B?

No tea money like the @@sholes at the Laos border?icon7.gif

Still desciding whether to go to Mae Sai or take the leasurly cruise to Sadao, with the low gas price, it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.icon1.gif

Is the town or market far from the border?

Is parking on the Thai side safe for the car?

    Thanks

  5. As far as i know there are 7 vegetarian restaurants in Chiang Mai. Starting from 20B to 35B for rice with 2 different dishes. Typical Thai where you can point out which dish you want. Some of them are quite good and spicy, with sojameat or tofu. They are located far appart and no good parking though. For these prices you can try 4 different dishes/meal and do a trail and error to find what you like the most.

    vegetarians rule!

  6. If you have the time and are staying in Bangkok, it is better to get the 20$ visa at the embassy. I crossed the border end of July in AranyaP and didn't have to pay anything.

Nor did they ask if I returned the same day. It was so muddy from the rain, you couldn't walk. You would expect from all the tourist visa money, they would at least have some concrete road! I happily returned to Thailand after 30 minutes. If Thailand is getting to you, just cross the border, and you 'll be glad to be back!

  7. Hello , I had an account at Pattaya south road , and no interest too. So I went to complain in HQ on Sukumvit in Bangkok , where they said the exact same BullSh.

They gave me a Krung Thai bag, and I took out my money. Siam Com and Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank, no problem, they just want an address. 0,75% like the Thai, but I only keep the minimum amount on it. Fixed accounts and Gov Bonds (no tax) are much better.
