  1. I have some questions in regards to the EAA Family Permit. I am German, living abroard for 8 Years (USA and Thailand) married for 5 years to a Thai and we have a 3 year old son. We are now applying for the EAA Family Permit to enter the UK. This should be a straight forward process _ which I hope so:whistling:

I understand a TB testing by the IOM is required, correct?

I understand, job seeker can apply for their spouses a FAmily permit, does this apply to people planing to open a business in the UK as well?

We do have enough funds and my wife owns a few plots of land in Thailand, so I dont think we have to use public funds while in the UK.

Is there anything we should be well aware of during the application, any advice from members who went through this process here in BKK?

From the website I see that the application time for this Visa is pretty fast (2-3days). I am planing to attach a supporting letter about our circumstances as well.

  2. Tuk Tuk's are a shame in Bangkok, too. Don't even waste your time and asking them. Much easier to get a metered Taxi or Motorcycle Taxi (not sure about yuor leg though). Lazy Folks trying to rip anyone off.

  3. Coming from Rangsit, right after the Ding Daeng Toll Gate is a little office on the left side. Make sure to use the outer left booth to pay your toll, or you might dont make it to the office.

Cost is THB1,000 which includes a THB 500 deposit. You get your card within 5-10 minutes. You need a copy of your wife's ID ( they wanted a Thai Citizen #'s)

You can charge the card at a regular toll booth or by visiting any of their offices.

  4. My wife always wanted a beautiful, traditional Thai Dress. Since her birthday is coming up I am looking for a Taylor or Store which others have used and can be recomendet. I am aware there billions of Taylors in and arround Sukhumvit, but from what I know they are more specialized in male and female suits for tourists.

Can anyone point me in the right dierction? Maybe with some pictures if someone's wife has done it, too?

  5. We finally found a nice plot of land. Since we are going back to Europe for a few years will will start construction of a new home in maybe 5-7 Years. A long time still. Now the question how to "leave" the land.

I was thinking about putting up a wall and filling the land. In this case the land has enough time to settle properly. This they didnt do at our current house (mooban development) which we have luckily sold. :whistling: The result, everything is constantly sinking even after 4 years.

What would you do? Do you think these are the right steps to prepare the land for a future home? Or is it wise to wait with the land fill? Any advise is appriciated.

  6. Take the kids to Disneyland, they'll love it.

That depends on the age of the kids.

There were kids from age 4 to 84 there when I went.

That's why I have said it depends on the age of the kids. My son was 2 1/2 when we went to DisneyLand in Tokyo. I wouldnt do it again until he is at least 5 years old. Otherwise its a waste of time and YEN.
