  1. thanks for the quick infos.

anyway Essen is my hometown, but some other German told me that even in the Consulates they want to see money now.

    :)

The only thing you will be asked for in Essen is your marriage certificate and your passport :D . It might be a good idea to take a statement from your wife that you are still married and a copy of her ID. However - I havent been asked for this.

  2. Maybe you could get a cheap flight to Frankfurt, drive to Essen and get a MULI Non Immigrant O at the Honorar Consulate. Takes 5 minutes, no hassle, no money neded. I did the same thing back in July, not because of the money in the bank - but because I dont want to deal with the Immigration hassle here. Maybe you could visit your family a few days. :)

A flight can be found for 15,000 - 25,000 THB - much better then finding 400,000 within 2 month :D

  3. 3 K roundtrip ? that doesn't exist.... that's what, for example, Air Asia charges ONE WAY when you book within 14 days of your travelling date.

    Most preferred ?

LUFTHANSA, me thinks. you won't have a better feeling of safety with any other airline.

and the cost for BKK-KUL return-ticket just 50 Baht or 400 Baht (plus Taxes, means, the return-ticket is around 5000 Baht).

I will fly exactly that route with them tomorrow ;-)

Oh, and I have to add: even at that cheap price, you still can earn miles for your MILES AND MORE account :)

    50 Baht ? 400 Baht ? Sorry I just dont understand you.

Another question, where do you book LH here in LOS ? Via Internet or via Travel Shop ?

As a pilot myself, I completly agree with your safety and comfort concerns towards asian low cost carriers.

  4. Hello,

I have to move the outside module of our aircondition. Right now its standing on the ground and I would like to mount in onto the wall. For this the 2 pipes which are connectinc both units ( inside and ouside ) are to long.

Can i simply cut those ? Is there any liquid or vacuum which can not get lost ? Does it have to be filled again ? I hope someone can help, before I start to cut these. :)

  5. Or you simply have kids and the Language rubbish does not apply to you :)

Btw: This is not just German law. This is all over the EU to every country within the EU.

@ Naam: Some Cities call it 'Buergerbuero'. And the 'Aufenthaltskarte' is called 'Aufenhaltserlaubis' which is the same thing :D

  6. I cant guarantee you that. However - there is no need for you to go to the embassy, as you will not be allowed in the interview room.

Go to your local Auslaenderamt and ask them what they require from you for a marriage Visa. The embassy does not have the authority on those. The final say comes from your local Auslaenderamt. Just go there, be friendly and ask them what you need and any recomendations.

  7. Having some problems obtaining a Passport for my Thai G/F to visit me in Germany.

She has been to the German Embassy in BKK twice now in the last 2 weeks and been declined on both occasions. Naturally she is very upset, as am I.

    Circumstances:-

    - I'm 32 she's 26. Been together 3 years.

    - She used to work in her family's boutique but it closed 9 months ago and since then she has been studying English. Doesn't have much in the way of qualifications, she's been to Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore before but never further afield.

    - We have rented an apartment in Phuket for the past 2 and a half years. I used to fly back and forth to Thailand every 6 weeks but changed job and only go there for a few 3 week visits yearly now. Been supporting her financially (paying the rent and household bills plus a little spending money) for the past 2 and a half years.

    - I'm UK National with Dual Irish/UK Citizenship (N.Irish) working in Germany on a 6 month rolling contract for a multinational. Have a leased apartment here in my name and I've registered my residence at the local town hall.

I obtained a "Verpflichtungserklärung" from the local "Foreigner Office" here in Germany. This is an Official Procedure where they checked my work contract, bank account and lease documents, then produced a certificate saying I am capable of providing for her during her stay. This supposedly negates the need for her to have savings or show financial independence.

She has reserved a flight 19th Sept Out - 18th November Back and purchased travel insurance with 2 Million Baht of cover.

I also wrote a letter explaining our relationship, inviting her to stay with me, promising to cover all expenses whilst she visits Germany as well as guaranteeing her return to Thailand at the end of the stay.

First application rejected. They told her she can't demonstrate adequate reason to return to Thailand. She needs to own land or have a hire-purchase agreement for a car or something that ties her to home.

She visited her folks and they agreed to sign over some of their land to her.

Second application this morning. The Thai staff at the Embassy flicked through her paperwork and told her she still couldn't show adequate reason to return and that she shouldn't even submit the application as it's just a waste of 2900 bht.

Obviously we're both upset. There doesn't seem to be anyway we can get a Visa now.

G/F wants me to go to the Embassy on the 8th September. I'm visiting from the 2nd to the 19th. But I don't think that's going to make a jot of difference as they haven't questioned any of my documentation. The onus is on her to prove she'll return to Thailand before her visa expires.

I don't think there's such a thing as a Fiance Visa for Germany, so that's not an option.

Her folks have suggested going to the Amphur and getting married on paper, no ceremony or parties. But again, will that make any difference. Seems a bit crazy getting married just for a Visa!

    Can anyone offer some advice?

Germany is though. Almost everything you are listing is against getting the Schengen Visa. You might try it again and use a third party on the 'Verpflichtunserklaerung', this is better then doing it with your name.

Also, the fact that you are currently living in Germany and she has no strong ties to Thailand, is a big 'no no'.

The best would be a fiance Visa to get married in Germany. Since you are not German Citizen she does not need to proof German language skills ( A1 test ). The marriage Visa will be valid for 3 month.

  8. This can happen on any airline, one of my bags when flying QANTAS to Europe disappeared, they were very helpful but the bag was never found, my travel insurance from my Citibank Credit card which i used to pay for the flight covered everything,

Considering the amount of luggage handled everyday i am surprised that not more goes missing, my family and myself fly Air Asia alot and we are very happy with the service and especially the pricing.

    GO Air Asia

It surely can happen with any airline - however other airlines have reliable insurance to pay for it. Btw I think even NOK Air only pays up to 500 Baht per lost checked bag. That's the price you pay for flying low cost airlines in SE asia. I am supriced nothing more has happened with them over the years - I guess its luck. :)

  9. I am getting a rhinoplasty done by Dr. Vitawat. I originally wanted Dr, Greechart but he forwarded by case to Dr. Vitawat, who i can't seem to find any reviews on. Can someone please tell me their experience with him. I feel he is too young (36 yrs old) and inexperienced. Can you suggest another experienced surgeon? My rhinplasty will not be easy, i am reducing my nose size, nostrils, and reshaping my nose.

    Thanks in advance.

My wife got a nose job 4 month ago. First we went to to Yanhee hospital as well. However it looks like they do not care what the customer wants. Its more a fast making money factory. If you want a specific surgeon and he sents you off to another one, just leave. YOU are the paying customer. My wife and I have done alot of research. I know Yanhee is cheep. But if you dont mind spending a few bucks more and get a perfect job done and threated as a customer cotact: PAI and ask for Doctor Peecha. He is one of the best and also a very friendly guy with good english.

  10. Go to your home country and visit your family. Get a 1 year, non immigrant O visa with multiple entrees. Takes 5 minutes and you dont have to deal with immigration here. I did the same :) . No need to show anybody 'your' money...

Great Consulates are: Hull ( GB ), Stuttgart ( DE ) as well as Essen in Germany.

  11. I agree that maintenance is a key word in the Airbus problem but also I have done alot of flying and Airbus in my past experiances is a far inferior aircraft compared to the Boeing. You really do not have much of a choice in aircraft when flying depending on your time schedule but If i had a choice it would always be on a Boeing aircraft.

May I ask how many different Airbus and Boeing have you flown with how many hours as PIC ? Or was your experience posted based as a passenger or Troll ? :)

  12. Update !

Just returned from the honorary consulate in Essen. This was one of my fastest VISAs I have ever got. In-n-out in only 8 minutes with a brand new Non Immigrant O , one Year, multiple entries.

    Required Docs:

    • Passport
    • Application form
    • 1 Passport
    • Marriage Certificate
    • 120 Euros

    Nothing else !

The Visa was stamped without any questions within 5 minutes. Excellent Job at the Honorary Consulate in Essen, Germany ! Much better then dealing with Extensions of stay here inside Thailand.
