  1. I know this is an old thread but I would like to get it alive again. I just found out that Fogo Vivo is no longer in business.

Since this thread is almost 2 years old, what are currenly your fine eateries in Bangkok ?

  2. I've had a work permit for more than a decade, I have a reasonable idea what I'm talking about.

Wow, I understand you are a lawyer, or why are you so rude ?

Are you able to provide any laws or police orders for this ? I think more this is a 'greyzone'. Please read his post, he is working for a overseas company, which does not operate in Thailand.

Btw: I am flying for an Hong Kong based airline. This would mean, whenever we fly into Thailand I am braeaking the law, since I do not have a Thai work permit ?! :o

  3. Does it matter to Thai officials that the work is being done for the West from a location in Thailand

You are physically performing the work in Thailand , you need a work permit, otherwise you are breaking the law.

Sorry, but I am not so sure here. That would mean every tourist or business traveller, checking his company emails and replying to them would break the law since they do not have work permit.

  4. Hello,

I had to exchange my full passport today with the German embassy. I am currently on a non immigrant 'o' and im still in my 90 days. Since my VISA in my old Passport is valid until Sep 09 and I have Multiple entries, I am not ready for the etxension yet.

But, do I have to go to Immigration and have my entry stamp transfered into the new passport ? Or is it enough to show the old Passport which has the entry stamp, together with the new passport at the airport, when departing for my next 90 days ?

I also got a letter from the embassy confirm that I had been issued a new passport.

  5. Hi Guys,

can anyone confirm travelling with 2 passports to Thailand is possible ?

    Here the szenario:

My Non Immigrant 'O' Visa is in my old, FULL passport. The Passport was exchanged with the German embassy in Bangkok. Is it possible to travel ( yes it was a Multi entry VISA ) using the VISA in the 'old' passport and using the 'new' Passport for the arrival stamp ?

    Any experiance is welcome.

  6. Hi Guys,

the TM30 reporting seems to be mot really enforced as I read in this forum. But I do have a couple of questions.

How often do you have to do the TM30? Everytime you leave the country and come back ? Even if you go to an neighboring country for one day ? How 'real' do they enforce the 24h time frame ? 24hs is almost impossible after a 16h Flight and jetlag.

Where do you report? Our local police station in Patumtani had no clue about such a form and was not willing to sign it. Instead we were send to the Ampoe :o They also send us away to and asked us to report in Bangkok. Has anyone done this by mail ? Do they have a seperate window for 'fast' reporting in bangkok ?

Do you report the TM30 ? Which advantages and disadvantages do I have when reporting the TM30 ?

  7. Also once you get your 12 month extension you will have to report your address to Immigration every 90 days. Unless you leave the country within 90 days under the conditions Joe pointed out.

Ok, as I said, thank you for all the help. But another question came out.

My passport has just 2 blank pages left. Do I have to get a new VISA in case I receive a new passport or can I carry the 'old' passport with the VISA and the new empty passport together to immigration ? This works in alot of countries, not sure how they handle it here.

  8. Will do.

Last question ( I promiss ) - after reading here all day im forum, I have less clue then before :D Seems like the Thai immigration system is much more complicated then the US.

1.) How often can I apply for a one year extension ? As many times I want to ( trying of course ). Or has the VISA to be valid in order to apply for an extension of stay.

2.) If the last, would it be possible to do 'boarder runs' and apply for an extension of stay ( 1 Year ) within the last week of the validation of the VISA ?

    Thanks for your help guys.

Btw: I am in Bung Yeetho :D anyone else out there ?

You can apply for the extension every year. No need for border runs. No need to get a new visa. :o

    That's what I needed to hear ! :D

    Thank you.

  9. Will do.

  10. Correct.

If you live in BKK that is, if not go to your local immigration office as BKK turns people away if they not live there.

Also call immigration in advance to see what documents they want. Like photo's of you and your wive and house. (requirements are different at each office). They will also want your wive to accompany you to interview her to determine of you are not only married on paper. Normaly you will get a 30 day extension while they consider your application and then give you the rest of the year.

We are living in 'Phatumthani' ( near Future Park ) this should be considered BKK? I cant really find any info on the immigration website ( i.e.: Office location etc ).

Thanks for you help ( I am sure this is the 1,000,000 post in regards to this matter :o ).

  11. Yes, the same goes for that. Unless you qualify for an extension of stay for one year.

(You have an income of 40,000 baht a month or 400,000 on a Thai bankaccount for 60 days prior to applying for the extension).

For you an one time extension for 60 days is also possible.

    Thank you Mario.

Yes I do have the THB 400,000 plus since more then 60 days on a Thai bank account under my name. So I can go to the immigration office in BKK and get a full 1 year in addition to the expired 90 days. Is that correct ?

  12. Here in LOS on a 12 month, multi-entry non-Imm B visa, coming up on my 90 days. This is the longest consecutive period I've been here, so I've never had to do a visa run before. Thanks to the PAD, my next trip out of here won't be until January, a full month after my 90 days is up. With a Non-Imm B, can I sort this out at the immigration office, or must I do a border hop?

No. You must leave Thailand and come back again.

Thank you. Does this also apply to a Non Immi 'O' Visa ( marriage ). I am in the same situation, just comming up on my first 90 days.

    Christian
