  1. SICAFLEX, You can get it at marine supply shops in Ocean Marina or the one at the corner Sukhumvit and the road going down to Banglamung. This stuff cures underwater, applies similar to silicone and dries underwater. Not cheap so....Good luck JL.

  2. Power Buy - Central Festival or Near Foodland/Klang >>> They have 2 or 3 universal models for around 300 Baht which work for just about anything. They are programmable for your air-con unit. Bring the old one and model of air-con to be sure.... Try basement Tukom, but I had several fixed there and they gave up again shortly after.JL.thumbsup.gif

  3. Hi there:

Anybody could help me with some info regarding options to invest Euros & CHFR with a Thai Bank, i.e. Kasikorn. I am looking for a conservative bond fund, money market fund or similar. What are cost for a portfolio of about 300'000 Euros. As I plan on spending more time here I would like to transfer a certain amount of my assets to Thailand.

As an option any ideas if an international bank like Citibank, Standard Charter offers this? At what cost?

My location will be Pattaya, if this makes a difference. Thank you all. JL.

  4. I've stayed at the Areca lodge loads of times, great hoteI, I stopped staying there because they hiked the prices about 4 years ago, I've just been looking at Diana Oasis online and it looks really great, which room/studio would you recomend?

I mostly stay in the C-Block studios. Nice, modern and fully equipped. Their lady manager is great, Meow, been there since they opened 4 years ago. Definitely best value in central location. Monthly rate works out at about 6-700 Baht/ night with good breakfast and reliable Free WIFI, which is a rarity for a hotel.

  5. Still my favorite, but often full: diana-oasis, Soi Bouakao (best value for money, friendly staff and great food, too) / Areca Lodge, Soi Diana Inn(also great location, good value in new rooms, not sure about joiner fees?) / LK Metropole, Soi Diana Inn (good rooms, good location, value depends on promotion, staff average last time I stayed there).

  6. Just back from the beach. Opp. Mike Shopping / The Hub of Jet-Ski Scams 2 young Indians getting ripped off right now. One of the guys was made to stop a few meters out in still deeper water. One of the Thai crooks went in the water, swam around the jet-ski and banged on the side and pulled on the rubber seals.

Both skies then were brought up on the sand and immediately very aggressive demands were made. I had watched the 2 Indians having fun and they never even came close to touching/bumping their jets on the water.

Then walked towards TQ1 and already another one in progress with 3 Indians.

    What a shame...

  7. There is a travel agent/office just about opposite the Post office on Soi Post Office, I think the name is *MG Enterprise* with red/black sign. The guy in the back is a translator. He is very good, very fast and very fair priced. About 300/page for difficult text/contracts. Done many jobs for me and have always been very pleased. Have a talk with him and good luck with your case. JL.
