That would certainly be so for regular health insurance but are you sure it is true for travel insurance?

Most would insure you but exclude anything related to your various pre-exisitng conditions.

A few would also cover "acute exacerbations" of your pre-existing conditions, often for an extra cost.

That was for normal travel insurance. It is true it can be a lot cheaper if pre-existing conditions are not included but I have so many pre-existing that it would mean I would have no cover health cover whatsoever and I am sure they would even try to not pay out on accident causing medical treatment. I have found it is better to pay myself. Spent 4 nights in Queen Sirikit hospital with all the care. Lots of daily tests and X-Rays, medication and private room. The doctors were first class. My heart was checked by one of Thailand's top heart specialists who happened to be at the hospital at the time. The whole cost came to less than the insurance excess which was £500. Always avoid the private hospital rip offs in Thailand.

I am very sorry to hear this story! For myself, I have no personal experience of corruption by the RTP to my disadvantage in 20 years living in Thailand.

    The RTP are our Defenders

    They are our Protectors

They are our Enforcers of the Constitution

The are our Enforcers of the law

    Aren't they?

A high level of disappointment from me to the RTP

    I presume this is sarcasm?

I really cannot believe that you have been here 20 years and never been scammed.

  3. During the Covid times I was in Thailand and Qatar cancelled my flight several times! Each time they cancelled I had to phone and they gave me another flight which was then cancelled a few days before each flight. In the end I bought a return ticket with Emirates. Flew to the UK, 6 months later back to Thailand. I then called Qatar to remind them about the ticket I had bought about 18 months before and they cancelled the return flight. At the time I was not expecting much after such a long gap but they promptly issued me with a free replacement ticket back to the UK! Great service.

  4. When I first started coming to Thailand the bars were open 24 hours! At 9am when Marine Disco was closing it was off to the disco's that were just opening! If I remember right things were much more relaxed, people were not drinking fast to get as many drinks as possible before the bars closed their doors and kicked you out. I also believe there were a lot less road deaths then.

  5. My 50" LG would not turn on after a lightning storm. Called LG Service and an engineer came to my home the next day. Repaired the TV on the spot by replacing one of the panels. Total cost about 3,000 baht.

  6. Stayed there 18 years ago. Had a luxury room next to the pool. Loved watching the ladyboy show at night. I remember at that time there was only 5 atm's in the whole of Pattaya and they all stopped working on Friday night till Monday morning! Great memories

  7. From my understanding all the Thai stations are also on limited licenses. I remember before the coup that FM in Pattaya was filled with radio stations , almost on top of each other, Not so many stations now, hopefully it will be sorted out soon .

My radio must be more sensitive than yours. The Pattaya FM band is once again packed with Thai stations. Perfect condition for an offshore pirate to position itself in the bay. The same as happened in Europe during the 60's. No license needed

  8. I am surprised, well not really!, that the only stations that seem to be having license problems are the Farang ones. After the coup all stations were taken off air. Now the FM band is packed with Thai stations. I can only think of two reasons why this may be. Either all the Thai stations have already been granted their new licenses to broadcast legally and the powers that be are purposely delaying allowing the Farang stations back on air. Or, most of the Thai stations back on the air now are broadcasting illegally with no license but no action is taken against them because they are Thai. Whereas a Farang station would get a quick visit from the police and/or army. Either way it is wrong.
