  1. Thanks for link. Although the HR dept are in Vietnam so may struggle with that, although the translation is clear. Yes, I'm a full time employee for 2 years.
  2. What is nod in the context? Google was no help here.
  3. I am not playing the system, nor did I take 30 days off. I took 7 days throughout the year. No did I take off any Mondays, which might suggest a hangover. Also to note I work for a Health company who actively encourage their employers to look after themselves if they are sick, or stressed by taking time off work when needed. Thanks for your constructive feedback nonetheless.
  4. I found Citi to be the easiest when I was looking for one. I had work permit for 2 years with the same company, 3 year visa and was earning 150k+ a month. Every bang I went into said no, or only offered a deposit based credit card. Citi offered one and it was preety simple to fill in the paperwork. Citi have recently sold their Bangkok business to UOB here, so not sure if the ease if application may have changed now.
  5. Hi, I'm having a bit of a discussion with my employer who is saying I need to take unpaid leave for the sick leave I have taken this year. As I understand by Thai labour Laws: - There is a maximum of 30 days paid sick leave - If you take 3 or more consecutive days off sick, you need a Doctor's note However, my employer is saying it is a total of 3 days on any dates, not 3 days consecutively. So, they are saying you're allowed 3 days off sick on any dates, then any other sick days after that you need a Doctor's note, even if it's a single day. When I google the question I find several results that state it's 3 days consecutively, such as: https://www.globalization-partners.com/globalpedia/thailand-employer-of-record/ However, when I check the English Translation on the Thai Government website, it's a bit more ambiguous: https://www.labour.go.th/attachments/article/47756/The Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541.pdf Now, I'd say this isn't really ambiguous, it's clearly meant to mean consecutive days. However, the way it's written could mean someone could mistake it for 3 days in totality (or take it that way when trying to worm out of paying sick leave!) Lots of other websites also use this ambiguous wording. Does anyone know of any other official documents or websites that make it clear it's 3 or more consecutive days? Thank you
  6. On the Citibank website when clicking the link to login, the page will freeze for a few minutes before I can type in the field. Been like this for a good few months. Tried in 3 different browsers and it the same. Does any one else get this?
  7. Do you have a source for that. I cannot find any information online to suggest that.
  8. I just found some Tiger Lights in a Tops. Have they started selling it here again,or did I just find some old stock?
  9. Is this correct? The same rules about % of foreigner owned properties can apply to houses, not just Condos? And what do you mean by area? A gated Mooban? So that would mean that pretty much any new house in a housing development would be allowed to be owned by foreigner, as its pretty unlikely that more than 49% of houses would already, if ever, be foreigner owned. This seems at odds to what every other bit of info out there states, foreigner can only own condoes, not houses. Do you have sources that give more info? Or are you talking about the way you can do it buy setting up a company to buy it with 51% share holders being Thais?
  10. Thanks the input, but I wasn't clear enough with the premium details, it's per month, not per year. Total Home loan amount: 7,767,000 Total insurance premium amount: 553,865 First 2 years: ฿2,350 per month 3rd year: ฿3,380 per month 4th - 12th years: ฿3,660 per month
  11. Hi, In the process of buying a house and UOB bank have stated that I need home loan insurance. They have given me a quote from themselves which is though Prudential. Here is the premium: Total premium amount: 553,865 First 2 years: ฿2,350 3rd year: ฿3,380 4th - 12th years: ฿3,660 I asked them if this is a requirement to which they said yes. I can understand that as likely based on the risk factor. Foreigner, low down payment, etc. I asked them if I can get my won home loan insurance from a different provider, to which they said no. However I'm wondering if that just sales talk and I'm within my rights to get my own cover? Does anyone have recent experience with this, or know the answer? Had a search though the forums, seen some related posts, but its unclear if I have to get it through the provider, or even need it all.
  12. Yes it is. I'm just wondering what is the process before I ask him.
  13. The townhouse we rent is on an off peak tariff, but I'd like to switch bank to the standard tariff. We are mostly home in the day, so the the off peak works out more expensive than standard. Is it as simple as contacting the electrical company and ask to switch, or is there more involved, such as changing of meters, etc? Thanks
