  1. The long weekend coming up will be a good indicator of how people will react to this. Hopefully Bangkok office workers and students will use their days off to protest at the theft of their futures. A big crowd on the first days may even attract upcountry people to travel to Bangkok to join in. A small turn out, however, would be disappointing to say the least, but could well indicate a fear of the authorities and/or an air of resignation and loss of hope for that future. Personally, I think it will be the best gauge of the feelings of the Bangkok middle classes. I hope they move that gauge off scale.

More sheer hypocrisy from Russia: "Russia said on Monday that drone attacks in central Moscow and annexed Crimea could warrant a harsh response, after Ukraine claimed an attack on the capital. “We regard what happened as yet another use of terrorist methods and intimidation of the civilian population by the military and political leadership of Ukraine,” Russia’s foreign ministry said." Harsh response eh? I hope they don't start targeting civilian residences, schools, hospitals, vital infrastructure and food supplies in retaliation. Oh...   9. They're samlors (meaning three wheels, but specifically human powered). Tuk-tuk are motorised samlors, named after the noise of the engine. Samlors are still used in many upcountry towns and cities:
